Battery problem. Charger connects/disconnects - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My Samsung galaxy s4 I9505 charges with specific charger, last night i lost my that charger, now i gotta htc charger by which it charges, The main problem is when i put it on charge it says connected, after 4,5sec when display gets off it disconnects and display gets on and automatically reconnects.
i changed connectors, but the problem persists.
Also how can i get charge by every charger.

It should work with any charger. Unless it's the htc charger causing the problem.

before htc charging, it wasn't working on most of chargers, like 1 was working out of 1000 chargers.
can you pls figure out the problem?

I've charged a friend's S4 with a different charger than the original one and it worked.
A possible workaround would be to activate daydream or to have the screen never turn off while charging.

Also if i get to know what's the problem, why it isn't charging with any charger? it would be really helpful

Is this hardware problem or some other?
coz one of y friend bought new samsung core etc, he was also able to charge with just original charger.

I don't know why it is not charging with any charger

Hardware issue is most likely, especially as it happens regardless of the charger used. What happens when you use a different usb cord?

Problem with my AC charger

Very strange problem , can not charge my Atom with the AC charger, the stupid charger charges my Imate JAMin, and JAMin charger wont charge my Atom,
The funny thing is it charges fine through pc usb
any ideas.
i have exactly the same problem, did u end up figuring it out?? its driving me nuts
I had this issue also, this time with a ghetto charger (that comes with a port for plugging in your USB cables). The ghetto charger works on my Mini, but the Atom stops after 5 seconds. Only the charger that came with the Atom works on it.
Unfortunately, there's no solution for this. Quanta apparently had this safety-locked just like Motorola did their RAZR series.
found out that motorola v3 razor charger could actually charge your atom, thx for your help
LOL... I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT. THE EXACT SAME CHARGER LOCK MECHANISM. >_>
Really? Does it charge as fast as the original charger? Can the original charger be used on a MotoRAZR? This is a very nice hack, tho not quite as useful as some might hope. <_<
im not sure if it would work the other way around, i cant see why not.
charging speed is about the same, but don't quote me on that one
cheers
to cause a short circuit on the plug pins, haha,it will be ok
hi all,
i am encountering another problem... opposite from wats happening to u all. my usb is not charging my atom exec when the battery is 35% or lower...
does anyone encounter the same problem?
I have a tytn and had the same problem, can charge and sync thru usb but no luck with the ac-charger. Thou yesterday i noticed if i leave it on in the ac-charger long enough it actually starts charging. Weird but i've tried and it really worked the cpl of times i tried. It takes about a minute or two before the led turn orange.
Same problem here. It charges on USB but not on my original AC charger. Has anyone already found the reason for this?
We have generic and "öther brand" branded chargers here in the Philippines. I've experienced the same problems both with the AC and Car Chargers here until I used a voltage regulator for the AC charger and a motorola car charger. Those that worked with my xda2 doesn't work with my atom. My advise to those with the same problem is to either buy a motorola AC or Car Charger whichever you need or use a voltage regulator in tandem with your original AC charger. If your PC USB doesn't charge while syncing with your PC, format your PC. Chances are, it's too cluttered already.
Hope this helps
how come it says in the manual that while charging the atom, it will display an amber/orange light?mine is displaying a red light?and i am encountering the same problem when charging. it charges for 5seconds and it will stop. the battery indicator displays a full bar.but it is not actually charged.can someone post the specification of the original charger that came with the package?i just bought a new charger here in singapore since i left my charger in the philippines.and the original charger that i got is for atom stealth. will it be okay?

please help with my MDA Vario..

i have an MDA Vario which doesn't work anymore.
it won't turn on or do anything .
it was working fine before i let the battery run out completely, as i forgot to charge it.
i don't have a proper charger, instead i was using a USB cable for a digital camera which had the same plug that fit in the Vario. it used to charge it when the phone was switched on.
does anyone know how to fix this?
do i have to buy a new charger or a new battery?
thanks.

Search here for the 9volt battery trick. There used to be an issue with older ROMs on like the Cingular 8125 where it wouldn't charge once the battery dropped to a certain point. There was a trick to "jump start" the battery with a 9v battery. Then it would charge again via USB or wall charger.
Once you do get it charged, you probably need to make sure you are on your carrier's latest ROM.
Note that while Razr chargers also use the mini-USB plug, I've heard some of the off brand Razr chargers will not give a good charge to a Wizard.
I used to have a hp pda and left it in the draw for a few months and couldnt charge mine, i had to buy a new battery.
Dont get a Razr charger it wont work.

Another possibility since the battery is completely dead is to plug in a charger (really should be a wall charger and not USB from a computer) and just let it sit for about 5 mins. Then press the on button (with it still connected to the charger) to see if it will turn on. If so it should then charge on up. If it doesn't I'd suspect the battery may be damaged.
thanks for the replies, i'll try the things you said

[Q]Defy Charging Problem

Hi I've got a problem with my phone. If I connect it to the PC using orginal USB cable it charging, transfering data and so. But if I connect the phone to the wall charger it don't charge only screen wake up but no charging on battery icon. The wall charger is orginal too. I've tried changing ROMs.
This problem is really anoying so if You can, please help me.
You write you use the original charger, but do you also use the original USB cable? It matters, cheap USB cables do not work on the Defy :-(
seems some problem in wall socket adaptor

Got to check that out, cause I've been wondering why I can charge my Defy+ in some wall chargers, some computers, and so far no car chargers. Would be great if the cables are the cause. Thanks
I use the orginal usb cable too

There's nothing wrong with your phone, ROM, or USB cable, but your wall charger is broken.
Just get your charger replaced. That's what warranties are for.
The Defy doesn't really care about USB cables. If it's switched off it will charge anyway, so the ROM doesn't matter either. But it's very picky about the current and voltage stability of the charger. That's why many 3rd party chargers don't work no matter what cable you plug into it.
I was in non-official phones service and they check charging on another adaptors but i think they were not original. Anyway as i remember when lastly phone was charging it was a storm and on the next day it wasn't working but i'm not sure.
I know this thread is old but i didn't find solution to this problem, soooo:
The answer is = turn off debugging over USB

What's debugging got to do with wall charger??
Doesn't matter from where I send it, what matters is written above
So why when I turn it on i have problems with charging?
Bug?
if u use External charger u must charge ur phone with mcgyver for 10 min.
after that use the External charger.
becaz ur battery so low.
Charging Issue
I got the same problem from the day i bought the mobile... The service center people told its charger issue and need to replace the charger. So Changed the wall charger under warranty. It took around 2 months to get my charger back. But the things are same. It sometime charge. Sometimes the screen will on and didnt charge. I tried changing different Versions. Same thing. Even the service center people have no idea about it....
Could you check if the micro-usb connector of the phone or that of the cable is clean, dirt and dust reduces or prevents transfer rate of electricity.

Weird charging issue

I usually charge my phone using USB while in the office. At home, I'll use the supplied wall AC adapter.
I've noticed that even though I'm using the AC charger, the stock battery display will show Charging (USB), which is not the case. Power cycling the AC charger usually fixes it to show Charging (AC).
Have also noticed that in some instances when it's plugged into the AC charger, the charging status would switch between "charging" and "not charging". Very obvious in the notification battery icon, where I would see the lightning symbol appear and disappear, about every half second.
I think there's an issue with the AC charger, or maybe it's the charging circuit in the phone?
Anyone experienced something like this before?
Cheers

Sounds like a hardware issue. If you want to run the test yourself, you can try swapping the charger with another OEM Nexus 4 charger (don't try to get around this). But I'd contact Google about this if I were you.
Might be the stock charger if thats what your using i had the same prob and sometimes but battery would either stay on the same percent for a while or go down so chanhed the charger and its been working fine ever since i still use the stock box charger i just changed the cord

i had similar issue..when plugged it shows charging/discharging..if charging it will be slow as hell..swap cable all good..
throw away the original cable try a different one..
Thanks. Will give it a shot and see how it goes.
Do you guys think this is a charging issue? Temp is very high but still continues to charge at AC level. I have switched out my power bricks and cable but still have the same result.

It is due to temperature I believe. I have observed this behavior closely for a long time, so I'm almost certain this is the cause. I've seen it on the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 7. I can't tell you offhand the exact temperature they stop charging at, but I can tell you it's most likely between 50°-60° Celsius. You've got to let your devices cool off. It may be a pain, but it protects your hardware, so when it stops charging, your phone is saying "Hey partner, you think you could let me cool down for just a second? Is that too much for you or what? What's your problem, you dingdong?"..
... Or something like that. If that's not exactly what it says, it's very close.

Ah I see. Anyways, I have used my cousins nexus 4 and every time the temp goes over 38 degrees, the charge rate drops down to USB. Mainly why I asked haha. Yah its a pain from time to time LOl

Same here. Worked out for me it was a dodgy cable. Using the supplied cable through a laptop, I will also from time to time get the plugged/unplugged notification on the computer, which being audible made me realize how often it was happening.
The supplied charger brick now seems to work flawlessly with a different cable (ie, always says AC, no odd charging/not charging behaviour, etc).
Try that and see how you go.
I guess it's the cable. I've tried using a generic ebay cable and it appears to be working fine now.
What sort of mA values are you getting when using the stock AC charger?
Battery Monitor widget says that the phone's only getting around 500mA when I believe it should be getting more than that. I've enabled the USB fastcharge in the options. and have left everything at default. This is after waking up the phone from standby. Keeping the screen on drops the charge rate to 200mA thereabouts.
No music playing, 3G and connected to a wifi access point.

Question Problem with charge

Hi, I have one question, do you have problem with charging? When I charge my phone, it charges well but every 5 minutes it shows me as if the phone has just been plugged in. Do you know the reason of this think?

never had this problem. Did you try the original USB-C cable and another charger? Cleaned the USB-C port of dust?
When it still persists I would suggest to contact the Nothing Service for repair
