I read a poster online saying t-mobile took the note 4 off their list of available devices and for the hell of it I checked Sprint and it's not there either? Note 5 is though.

When I spoke to a sprint rep in the store, he said they only do it through special order, at least for now. Wonder if they will get rid of the Note Edge too.

They probably did cause with the specs of the new Note 5 and obvious price drop of the Note 4 who in their right mind would be willing to pay more for the Note 5??
Yes it does have a newer processor, Yes it has one more GB of Ram and a little upgrade on the front facing camera
BUT
Our Notes have Removable battery, a microSD card slot and an IR blasterand a bigger capacity battery.. BAAAMM!!
Is it really an upgrade?? Me doesn't thinks so!!
SO maybe, just maybe it's and strategy so they don't have to drop the price so much on the Note 4.
From today, I consider my Note 4 an Authentic Gem!

So much for my plan of "buy up the Note 4 so it vastly outsells the Note 5 and Samsung gets the hint"!
Interestingly enough, Sprint still offers the Note Edge, which is pretty close if you don't mind the shape and lack of Gear VR support.

Think of it this way. If it's essentially a downgrade, then you should be able to get a premium price for your Note 4. And if you can't get a premium price for your Note 4, then maybe it's not such a downgrade after all.
Just bought a note 4 from best buy 20 mins ago
I looked around for a while and had to drive to a different best buy because most stores dont have them in stock. They even increased the price to 299!! The manager was reduced it to 199 after i complained for a minute.

Hadn't thought of that. If something happened to my Note 4 and it had to be replaced by a Note 5 I would be seriously disappointed. How many times have you felt that way about a product where you would NOT want to replace your older model with a newer one?
Found the reason why the note 4 is not there anymore, just talked to a guy at sprint. He said that Samsung was requiring Sprint to pull the Note 4 and Note edge from stores. The Note Edge is still for sale online, but it probably won't be sold much longer. In other words, the Note 5 and S6 Edge+ are the NEW Note 4 and Note Edge. Also found out all accessories were pulled from sprint too.
Sent from my SM-N910P using XDA Premium HD app
I guess they know their "new" product isn't up to par and rather then give their loyal fanbase the device they asked for they are going to force the note 5 down users throat. To the average consumer they won't notice and will likely get it because its in stock but to those with a little know how and the will to put a grade school level puzzle together we will realize whats going on.

Yep, I am predicting something will happen with the S7/Note 6, but that's quite a wait for now. Seeing as if they pulled any note 4/edge phones, my next phone will either be the G4 or M9. I loved it when they say in their unpacked video "Samsung is listening to the community." They aren't listening at all. It's all just another way to get money.

More like a lesser plan, as they are about to realize. I bought a used one. Samsung didn't get any money and neither did Sprint. No contract renewal, bad will for both companies, etc. Thinking, after decades with Sprint, of moving my service to another carrier - one that actually has coverage.

I'm looking for a Note 4 right now on CL or maybe eBay. I was hoping to upgrade from my Note 3 to the Note 5. Not. No microSD, no removable battery, smaller battery capacity. I actually talked to Sprint CS to ask about getting a Note 4. They said best chance was to check the stores. I guess they can order one, maybe, if the stores don't have any. I, too, am reluctant to give Sprint and Samsung money for a new Note 4. Maybe we'll take all five of us and go to a different carrier. I just hate the idea of giving up unlimited data.

It's a penta-band HSPA+ phone, so it should work on T-Mo (and most HSPA network around the world). T-Mo doesn't really have a true 4G network; in their marketing terms, HSPA+ = 4G.

HTC One X was a reason, thus it dropped from ~500+
Next reason is SGS III
which may not be around the market for another 2months..
But then one may want SGS III...
you can wait 2months and then decide... or compromise $30-50 price difference now and enjoy this nexus for next two months
On a different topic,
my recent device history is:
Vibrant -> Atrix -> SGS II -> Nexus S
I had SGS II and Nexus S simultaneously and I kept Nexus for its stability and curved display(feels much better than flat one). It is as snappy as sgsII and only part where I have to wait for the phone to process is when it is processing panaroma.
I really do not require an upgrade but still i'm going for gnexus as im excited to try what google has on platter with this one.
Considering I kept SGS based Nexus S over SGSII, it is highly likely that I will still stick to Gnexus despite of sgsIII launch.

This is the best online deal I have come across so far.
As far xda market trend, hardly anyone is willing to sell one below 450-480 despite of this deal being in place (an many other deals below 450 for quite a long)
PS: Members will be grateful if someone can purchase them locally for ~350 and sale on xda at that price; unfortunately nothing of that sort has happened yet..
I'm here in the US using an AT&T sim. I am so sick of the terrible carriers putting their little fingers and logos into all these devices.
My least favorite of these new things is the carrier logo in the top left of the notification shade.
This is a gross mis-use of the notification bar and AT&T and Verizon and the rest need to knock it off.
I'm happy (really really really happy) to report that the N7100 does NOT do this. Love it!

For me LTE is huge as AT&T is extremely fast around here. Faster than my Fios connection. That plus I'm due for an upgrade so I'll pay the greatly reduced price for the device.
I dunno about you... but that's not true on my HTC Sensation... also it might be from the manufacturer (at least you know who's network you are on if you're roaming).
I don't think I've ever seen that... Then again, I don't usually buy Samsung phones
I really really despise carrier branding..... Are US carriers the only ones that do this?
I'm just not sure what I should do? I've always had TMO and Sprint, but lately they've been horribly slow.
So I'm also curious, IS LTE/4G the only positive for the US Note II?
LTE is nice but if it's going to make the note battery act like the battery on my gnex then I'd be willing to go without

I wonder if threads like the OPs are just people trying to make themselves feel better for dropping $700 on a phone that can be had in 9 days for $299 (or less).
I mean, I have ATT and am ready to drop the cash on an international version, but I just can't seem to do it. I use Netflix a lot (don't worry, I pay a healthy amont for data) and it sucks mostly on my GSM GNEX. Stuttering and buffering. I just want a fast connection, and the LTE note is worth waiting 9 days on, IMO...
The 2500mAh battery on the AT&T LTE Note lasts all day.
The 3100mAh will be better. Food for thought.

But you still need service of some kind, which isn't free. I pay $48/month for seemingly unlimited rollover minutes (like 3000+) and 5gig of tethering data (200 texts) and free M2M on ATT. I have a company discount.
I know many readers are't in the US and don't have an add a line, but it's very cheap for me to keep ATT, contract or not. The monthly fee is higher every where else for me.
I mean I get the "well you are paying $2,000 for that phone!" arguments, but really you need to add in the cost of any service unless you are using it 100% on wifi (which nobody does). Add that in with a full non-contract price phone and then post.

Well, I'm on T-Mobile's Value plan which is a 2 year plan w/o any subsidies but you save enough for 1.5 phones... although your plan sounds pretty decent... either it's grandfathered or you've got some sick company discount, but in either case, the phone wouldn't be $300 for you... that would require a 2 year commitment (not sure how they handle grandfathered plans)

Yep, the only reason. I can understand why it's a great thing for people to use LTE, but personally I have wifi everywhere I go and I barely use my monthly data. Even though in some cases LTE can be faster than wifi, wifi is plenty fast for anything you wanna do. So I prefer the international version for development support. But the development for the LTE versions shouldn't be too bad either since they're using the same SoC.
For me HSPA+ is plenty......haven't been on a contract in 4 years. Straight Talk service is LEGIT everywhere i go.....so besides getting the phone early, that is the reason i buy unlocked. Could really care less about carrier branding.

Which phone are you talking about? I think the Note II should be safe as the only thing they added between the models was just a different LTE chip (or not even if it was just a matter of flashing a new radio). I mean everything's pretty much the same in terms of specs so they didn't do any radical re-engineering, also the flip covers also replace the back cover, so if you get one of those that should remove the branding (at least on the T-Mo and AT&T ones, who knows what the Verizon one will look like). Just don't buy a fake as the NFC chip is in the back.

Support does not equal produce.
The Nexus 5 stock they are getting in now are from unsold stock from retailers that are being forced to return unsold stock in place for the new Nexus devices. All Best Buy Locations have done this, Sprint is doing this, and T-Mobile is not too far behind either. Google is just reselling the returned stock direct on Google Play to burn away the remaining stock to those desperate enough that would not upgrade to the N6. That is it.
Nexus 5 will get Software Support for another year, but production has halted for some time now. Google is just trying to burn away stock directly (Hell they did this when they offered to swap out broken screened N5's in the US for new ones for free.) Just accept that the N5 is on its way out already.

Why would Google create this page: http://www.google.com/nexus/5/.
They stopped producing the Nexus 7 and there is no product page for that. There is for the Nexus 5 though.

My point exactly. And to the guy above @Dr Faustus, source?

Oh and my best guess is that they are getting rid of stock with KitKat on the Nexus 5s and loading the next batches with 5.0.

First things mentioned on the page "Nexus 9, 6, and Player" Not really advertising the 5 much huh?
Also tablet stock is not remotely the same resale market as phones. Google is selling the returned stock of N5's because they know there will be people out there crying the blues over the N6's size at launch. Its padding, padding to soothe the size whiners and if Google can still profit from it why not dissolve the stock in the best way?

Hmmm you have a point there. Love my n5. Hate this feeling of replacing it with the n6 so soon. But the ff speakers, Wi-Fi calling , more memory to start and bigger screen scream buy me.

Australian play store still has all 6 variants of n5 in stock. Just sayin.
It should not be, because you will be able to get it with 5.0 preinstalled

I had dust behind my camera lens of my Black 32gb and they could not replace with Black or White only Red.
They did offer me a full refund, so I took that now awaiting the elusive Nexus 6 in the UK!
i dont know about that the nexus website has a page dedicated to the 5
.google.com/nexus/5/
I somehow doubt they'll drop the N5. But taking this info into consideration, then maybe they'll just drop the 32GB on the N5 and have it exclusive to the N6. Not that that makes much sense either.

Here is the email:
I've removed my name and the senders name except for the first letter since I'm still trying to get a replacement and don't want anything to go wrong.
So.. If this is true.. for anyone thinking about not getting the Nexus 6 because its too big and getting a Nexus 5 instead.. looks like you have to hunt it down in retail shops since its not going to be produced anymore.

Maybe they stopped production so that they can offer the Nexus 6 mini, which is a Droid Turbo in Nexus form.

Never thought I'd make this upgrade.... My Verizon Note 4 is being traded in for a ... T-Mobile Note 4.
10 years and 5 lines on Verizon. I don't see a phone I can actually upgrade to from the Note 4- so it makes sense to get a rootable, rom-able Note 4. I'd be perfectly happy with that. I don't think that trade is for everybody, but I see nothing coming in 2015 that's any advancement I want to live with.
Just to let you know how it turned out moving out of my Verizon Note 4 and taking my family with me (I think that's relevant for this forum- mods, if it's not, you can delete my post), here's how it worked (unlimited talk and text):
Traded my VZW Note 4 (6 gigs data Plan) --------> TMO New Note 4 (10 gigs).
Porting over a VZW Note 3, 2 gig plan -------->10 gig plan
Trading a Note 2 in for a New Note 3, unlimited data --> 10 gigs
Changing one flip phone to Galaxy core Prime -----------10 gigs
Porting over one flip phone -----------no data
VZW: 233/month. T-Mobile: 168/Month. Fortunately, In my area Tmobile actually has better data/voice coverage than VZW.
I think I'll take the extra dollars and get a nice big battery. I have no problem living with that for a year or two.
Are you doing their 4 lines/10gb special that they have going on? I saw it on their site the other day and was considering it. Not because of root, but because Verizon is becoming my least favorite company lately.
Are all the phones new? When I built the plan and added in new phones, I was only saving like 30 bucks difference from what we pay on Verizon for the same data and phones.
I am seriously considering doing the same thing. I'm looking into coverage maps now. Does anyone know some good, up to date (and unbiased) places to find coverage map comparisons for a particular area?
Sent from my SM-P905V using Tapatalk
2 out of 3 are new. Note 4 new, note 3 certified, core prime (El cheapo, but ok android) new.
Hands down t-mobile wins speed tests here.
Vzw tried to save me. Told me their new plan would be awesome. I would go from 1 unlimited, 1 6gig and 1 2gig to 3 total gigs for the whole family. I said "that sounds crazy... ". They said... "no really, you can use wifi!!!"
I'm stupid.... but not THAT stupid.
And yes, it's the 10 gig/4 phones plan on tmo.
Just a quick follow up note on how my changeover (after 10 years with Verizon, with 5 household lines) turned out.
I'm sitting here with a brand new, rooted note 4 with a killer custom rom, set up exactly how I want it
-- on a much improved 5.1.1. Battery and lag issues: *Poof*
It gets better. I have an extra smartphone line in my 5 phone household... and I'm saving 50 dollars a month.
It gets EVEN better.
My employer can hear me now when I call into work. I wont miss them telling me my voice was "dropping out".
Oh, but it gets **MUCH MUCH** better.
In 10 years, I never saw over 20 Mbps from VZW, and most of the time at home, my Verizon wireless could have been beaten by an average Fischer-Price Modem(sic).
Fired up my new T-Mobile Note 4, turned off the home WIFI and ran the Ookla speed test. I almost fainted.

Same here. If ever they touch my data, my wife and I are out. I would not mind being able to have Root again. But for now, unlimited data is king. If only someone could find a way to turn all relevant radios for the Verizon network on one of the other networks phones. Then I would most definitely be getting another Note4. But it seems, even though there is a thread out there which proves it is possible, no one has tried. Oh well, it will happen eventually. Regardless, I still have Unlimited. To the OP, very happy you got more for less and better for that matter. I like to hear when those who can, do stick it to EVilrizon.

I was so done with Verizon screwing us over in terms of price, service, and locking down our phones that I threw away that unlimited line with all the others. Just look what it did to the character of this forum... it's a pretty dead place. 3000 posts in development here, 85000 posts in development at the T-mobile Note 4 forum. Verizon will lock down every significant phone into the future as quick as it can. I refuse to "moo".

I hear you on the being screwed part. Out of this world pricing. But, I just can not shake the unlimited data thing. $30 for unlimited? That is a good deal by pricing standards. But voice pricing? That is where I get screwed.

I am going to try TMO I think, especially since I'm not getting the Note 5. I have gotten the new release every year, but Sammy really screwed the pooch on this one.
Here is a question. Is there anyone here willing to try and unlock the appropriate radios on their TMobile Note4 to see if it works with a Verizon sim? I am getting fed up with this Verizon Note4. This lock down is unreasonable on so many levels.

Here is my dilmemma. The Note 7 was my very first note and I absolutely love it? But with the nail in the coffin on it by Samsung, I'll reluctantly give it up. I have my S6 still as I bought the Note 7 outright to avoid using my upgrade. So what would you do? Get a refund, go back to the S6 and wait for the Note 8 (if there will be one), or go exchange for the S7 edge.
If I refund or go back to the S6
- I'll miss the AOD
- I'll miss the stylus for writing myself notes will screen off
- People edge
If I go with the S7 Edge
- downgrade to 32 GB (my S6 is 64 gb)
- has been out for a while now, so will be replaced in Feb 2017.
- no loss of Samsung Pay, Gear Fit 2 (same for the S6)
My 256 GB SD is on it's way from the last exchange. What would you do? Please not negative comments. It is what it is with the recall.
I refunded and when back to the Note 4. My opinion the Best Note in the series now that the 7 is dead. 2 year old tech I know but I wanted nothing to do with S7/7Edge or any other device. I have no problem waiting til S8 time
I have to wait until I can talk to sprint because I am in a crappy situation with all of this (I am sure others share the same issue) but I gave my old phone back in, don't have any other sprint phones, and I really think taking the S7 or S7E is a mistake at this point since they will be replaced so soon. The LG V20 looks promising, but I was thinking I'd just pick up a used Note 4 and use that, had a Note 4 with TMO and it was awesome and i could settle for it for now and await the new "S8 S8E" I am sure is to come or longer for the return of the Note line. Maybe we'd see an earlier release of the new Note since this one got botched.
Honestly if they just would "fix" the problem with the Note 7, even if it took until early next year, I'd happily own one again.

Go back to the S6. S7 is nice, but Note 7 was...way better. It is not worth paying money for the S7 after having the Note 7. Save your cash for now and enjoy your free $250--256gb mircosd card.
Same dilemma, no other option but LG V20 and or Google Pixel XL. I hope Samsung will let us keep our note 7!

As much as I want to keep it, it doesn't make any logical sense. Accessories will disappear, support on here will die, will be no software fixes for anything along with updates, if your phone breaks, can't get a replacement. If you end up having any kind of signal problems you will be auto blamed for your phone. If your phone does catch fire (personally I think any reports post replacement are false hype to kill samsungs hold on the cell market) you are going to be held 100% responsible for any damages.
I still think they are going to get black listed. Don't forget the carriers forced this second recall, not Samsung. If you've paid for a phone they can't really make it inoperable, but they can black list it off their network.

You hit the nail right on its head with your post. I was thinking of keeping my replacement since I've had no issues but concerned more about support. This has been my favorite phone from any device I've owned. However I couldn't purchase a Zerolemon for it because of the issue, (received an email directly), no root support since mine updated out the box, updates and everything else is an issue. Back to my Note 3 I will go with Talk and surf with Moars Rom, exposed and etc.
On another note, (no pun), I went to Best Buy and was checking out S7 Edge. It's a lil smaller but it's does have the option to root, lemon charger cases available, the support and most of the features the Note 7 had..
Has ANYONE went to the S7 Edge and have no regrets?
I just picked up the S7edge earlier today. It is a tad bit smaller but, I don't really notice too much. I stuck an otterbox defender on it so it feels a little bigger now. Speedwise it runs as fast as my note 7 did. Has most of the features of the note 7 except the s pen of course. I like the spen but honestly I didn't use it that often anyways. I think in time Ill get used to it. I got my upgrade back some how in the whole process of all the exchanges Ive done so whenever a new one comes out Ill upgrade again. lol.

I have no idea what they did. The guy at sprint store was having a hard time with my sero plan so he got on the phone with sprint. Ten minutes later he gave me the receipt and I walked out the door with upgrade reset and the s7edge exchange. Will see if they figure it out later but I'm not saying anything. It remains to be seen how good the radio is in this thing. It works about the same for me in all the areas Ive been today. Good luck with your exchange tonight at BB.

Could have gone back to my old phone and gotten my upgrade back, but upgrades are really crap now. They stick you with the $25 subsidized phone charge on the bill, comes out to $600 for the life of the contract.
