Issue with S5 Active SM-G870A - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Attached is the screenshot after an Odin Flash of Stock (G870AUCU1ANE4_G870AATT1ANE4_G870AUCU1ANE4_HOME.tar.md5) Rom with
(SM-G870A_pit.pit) PIT file... Having an issue with this phone not booting up, won't directly go into Download mode and seems like the luck of the draw when it does go into download mode. Anyone else have this issue or is the flash memory fried?
I've tried just flashing the PIT file alone and that didn't work either.

Also, phone has never been rooted... when i hit power, it gives a short vibrate and black screen.

[Q] Bricked S4

I'm not sure what type of "bricked" this would be but, I tried to flash my Canadian Fido S4 I337m with a MF3 modem. I did this through Odin Mobile Pro. At first it was all good, it started to restart with a blue android figure. It started to take a really long time and nothing was happening so I decided to turn the phone off. Now the phone won't turn back on and it won't connect to the PC. I have my backup saved on my sd card but I can't get the phone to load at all.
It's currently stuck the battery charging power up screen. I can't post a picture since I haven't posted 10 times apparently... So it's the grey battery icon, the circle in the middle isn't moving whatsoever.
Did a battery pull, tried starting it in safe mode, and tried to restart it in the download mode. All of which have failed.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

The blue android figure is back. Does anyone have any information on how long this little android guy is supposed to be around for?

Download Odin 3.07 for the PC.... you flashed the wrong mode... I believe you flashed a US modem not a Canadian on... suggest NC1 can be found in the forum...
With the phone unplugged, press volume down +home+power if you get a warning, release buttons and press voulme up to go to download mode...
Start Odin.... important... take off auto reboot....
there are instructions on how to properly flash the modem... likely in the same thread you found the file.....
Flash only the modem.bin file inside the folder... do not flash the nonhalos file....
Most instructions sau flash once... reboot to download mode.. flash again....
Basically let me know if you can get to download mode... I tried to google blue android on screen but didn't find anything yet... first I have heard of blue... I have seen green dead ones though....

No, I can't seem to get into download mode. It just keeps heading on to the the blue android. I purchased a dongle jig to get it to download mode on ebay hoping that would work.
Method 1 Odin Mobile
Extract TAR and place modem.bin on Internal or External SD Card
Open mobile Odin (free version works but pro is awesome)
Select modem 2 and find extracted bin file
Press flash firmware button
System will boot to download
Hold power button for 10 seconds if download mode in green comes up.( should be blue)
Odin will install modem files
Done
This is what I was following. It said if it comes up as a blue android it's good.

If you put the modem file on an external sd card.... maybe you could pull the card, put it in a usb reader and put the proper modem.bin file on the card and put it back in the phone and power it up.... see what happens. I am guessing it couldn't finish the process because you have the wrong modem file...... Okay so now I realize you are stuck on the mobile odin logo... (blue guy) search google for how to get out of that or go to the mobile odin thread and ask chainfire... it is his app....
I've got the problem fixed. I re-flashed my whole firmware and managed to get the phone into download mode using a USB Jig. This is for reference if anyone encounters the same problem in the near future.
Thanks for the help and advice though.

[Q] Stuck at boot screen - Odin gives "complete(write) operation failed

Ok so this is my first post, hope I'm in the right section. This will be a long post as I've tried everything I could find to fix my problem.
So I bought a Fido Samsung Galaxy S4, I9505 SGH-I337M from an online auction site (not ebay). The phone is completely stock, its not rooted, no customer recovery, nothing. Phone was in wayyyyy better shape than I expected, I would say near mint with original box, charger, cable etc. Everything worked great except the wifi, as other people have reported it would not turn on, toggle switch would move over and attempt to turn on, but after 15 seconds or so it would switch back to off. I also tried 3rd party apps to manage wifi connections without any luck. It was running the firmware ending in NE1 so I thought updating it to the newer firmware, NI2, might have this fix. Since I couldn't connect to wifi I figured I should do it manually following the instructions I found on sammobile.com. So I downloaded Odin 3.07 and the new firmware that IS the right one for my phone. I shut off the phone, pulled the battery, put it back in, and put it into download mode. I connected the phone, Odin detected it, I selected the firmware and press start. It took a few minutes and then failed (this was a few days ago, I don't remember the exact error I received). So, I tried again but it kept failing, so I shut off the phone, pulled the battery and turned it on. It booted to the screen with the exclamation mark that says a firmware error occurred and to use Kies to recovery it. I tried using Kies but it wouldn't detect the phone. I ended up using a fix I found that had me flash some file that started with philz_touch something like that. It was from a youtube video called "firmware upgrade encountered an issue for s4 fix".
And that fixed that part, as I could now get back into download/odin mode. When I turn the phone on it just sits at the "Samsung Galaxy S4" screen, no blue light or flashy graphic. It will just sit there forever. Obviously there is a problem so here is what I've tried so far to get Odin to work.
Using Odin 3.07 I tried flashing the firmware ending in NE1. Odin confirmed MD5, but after pressing start only a few seconds later I get "There is no PIT partition"
So I tried to find a PIT file and did. So I shut off the phone, unplugged it, pulled the battery, and put it back into download mode. I closed and reopened Odin 3.07 and used the PIT file I found and the NE1 firmware. This time it failed again within seconds with the error saying "complete(write) operation failed". I have tried 3 different firmwares, with 3 different USB ports, with and without the PIT file, and with both Odin 3.07 and Odin 3.10. I've also tried doing it with my antivirus deactivated. Samsung Kies still won't detect my phone when its connected, but Odin detects it every time.
When I try going into recovery mode I get
"Recovery booting.....
Recovery is not Seandroid enforcing
Set warranty bit : recovery"
It just sits there and nothing happens. Pressing any button does nothing except power as I can shut it off.
So I'm at a complete loss of what to try next. I've tried every solution I could find so I'm hoping someone has a suggestion of what I could try. PLEASE HELP ME!!

Galaxy s4 Recovery mode issue Urgent

I need help and have no idea where to go. My phone restarted randomly like it usually does but It got stuck on this screen
http://forums.androidcentral.com/at...says-no-command-photo-27-04-2014-23-39-34.png
Sadly I had no backup for the device and am wondering if it's bricked. I can access the phone when I hold the power/ down volume/home button from time to time. I formatted the device hoping it would fix the issue. I managed to set up the device but I have to hold those specific buttons for it to work. Here are the device specs. I don't know what to do. I tried factory resetting it but with no luck. Every time i turn on the device I have to use that button order. I just have no idea what to do. I installed a stock rom via odin using this tutorial.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeYwhL1iS6k
Device: Samsung Galaxy s4 SGH-I337
Android : 4.4.4 kit kat
Edit: I have to hold volume down/home button/ power to turn it on which is quite annoying. I've never had this issue before. Is there a way to completely restore it to factory without having to do all this stuff? I tried doing it via recovery mode and in the phone itself. I get this screen https://cdn-images.xda-developers.com/direct/3/0/1/9/2/9/4/20120813002112.jpg
Which I usually get but then it goes straight to the odd recovery mode screen and not to the phone.
I found out something huge that might help! My volume up key isn't working so I'm assuming it's booting it straight into recovery mode for that reason. I read on a few sites saying I need the device repaired! I'm almost 100% sure thats the issue but correct me if im wrong. The volume up wont work at all.

The youtube video you mentioned was about how to root the i337. The video did not mentioned anything about stock rom installation via odin.
The video shows to install the nc1 kernel, then use the towel root to root and then install the NJ4 kernel back to work with system.
It appears that your system messed-up in installing the kernel.
You need to install the full firmware via odin. There is only one full firmware available for kit-kat. It is NB1 firmware with NC1 kernel cooked by muniz_ri. You can download the firmware from here.
Unrar the firmware and you will get .md5 file. Put your phone to download mode, load the .md5 file to AP slot of the odin and flash it.
If you have problem in flashing odin show the screen shot of odin error.
Once your phone is running fine, you can use towel root to root the phone. If you want to upgrade to NJ4 I will show you the direction then.

Screen turns off after the first Samsung splash screen

I got a refurbished Verizon S5 today. It was running the latest Verizon software (PF4?). After using Odin to flash stock tars, the phone's screen now stays off after the first Samsung splash screen. After the normal amount of boot up time, I can hear the normal keyboard sound effects when I tap on the screen but the screen stays off. Sometimes I can get the phone into recovery but most of the time, the phone says "recovery booting..." and then restarts. I can almost always get the phone into download mode. When the phone is plugged into a charger, the grey battery icon shows up and then the phone restarts.
Here's a chronology:
I got the refurbished phone in the mail. I turned it on and checked the cid. 11
I used Odin to flash G900VVRU2BPB1...tar.md5. It hung on the red Verizon screen for over 30 minutes so I pulled the battery and let it boot again. Still hung. I used Odin to flash PD1. Went into recovery mode and cleared cache and factory reset. Tried PF4 and PD1. It was around this time that the screen started to go black during and after boot. Tried the debrick image on a SD card. Tried PB1.
My next step was to use Kies to reinstall the firmware but I can't find the S/N. The S/N is not under the battery. The imea does not work as the s/n. I'm downloading adb to see if I can pull the s/n through it.
Any other suggestions or ideas? Is this my first brick? Could this be a hardware issue or did I screw up the firmware/boot image somehow?
Try downloading 7 zip file manager Google it
and the bok 3 firmware from Sammobile.Com
Use 7 zip file manager extract and make a tar out of all the Files individually and flash them individually in odin or heimdall
IT's worth a shot I've had to do this sometimes

Thanks for the suggestions. I've downloaded BOK3 and I have created the individual tar files.
I haven't flashed individual files before. Does order matter? Do certain files get flashed in BL instead of AP?
For example,
BL: aboot, boot
AP: everything else?
It looks like my phone is from one of the earlier manufacturing runs. Could it have been a hardware issue? Google showed some people having the same problem with the screen turning off. Do you think my warranty is void because I've flashed a stock rom?
Boot into Odin and look at the number s1 t1 etc if any are two you warranty is void

No order doesn't matter

Unbootable sm-t535, broken?

Hi there,
I'm pretty certain I've destroyed my tablet and will not be able to resurrect it, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Tab 4 10.1, sm-t535.
I was trying to update to stock 5.0.2 using Heimdall. I got the devices pit file, loaded it and using the download from sammobile I started the flash process of the twelve partitions in the download.
Suddenly Heimdall stops with an error. Reboot the tablet and now it just vibrates, screen flashes and the loops again. Only way to stop it was to physically disconnect the battery from the board. I'm guessing it's an issue with the boot or aboot partitions but my knowledge is limited.
Anyone had a similar issue or know of someway I can access the laptops data? Anyway otherway to connect to the device to install a repair?
I can't get it to boot into recovery or download mode.
try to use a jumper is not expensive and it can maybe work ... And may be you can use odin on your computer same if you are not on the download mod just after have put the right bottom
Force reboot by Poweer+volume up and down simultaneously until powered off, and quickly switch to power+volume down+home to boot into odin mode, find your stock firmware in sammobile or in this xda forum, flash it and maybe start over again?
