Hi everyone,
Is there anything we can do against the stagefright exploit on a stock moto G?
Using Google Messenger app for texting/MMS, not rooted, not blunlocked, full 5.1 Stock.
(Any solution OTHER than flashing CM12.1 would be appreciated )
Edit: Has Motorola said anything about it?

Disable auto-retrieve option for mms messages if there is any in your SMS/MMS app, use firefox (latest build 38), don't download any media files like mp4, etc. and wait for a patch/update.
And to answer your second question, yes they did. For more info and concerns look here:

I'm using Textra as my default SMS app and they have provided an update that fixes the bug from the app side.
OK say the official Motorola response is:
"All of our newly launched products (Moto X Style, Moto X Play, and Moto G 3rd Gen) will have the patch integrated in the software. We'll include it in the remaining planned Lollipop upgrades as soon as possible. We’re working with our partners to update phones that have already received the Lollipop upgrade.*We are still working through the feasibility to support older devices that are not getting Lollipop"
Am I correct in thinking we are in the 3rd group? The ones that have Lollipop? Therefore a true patch is coming?

They must have screwed something in 4.4.3 which they are fixing in 4.4.4 I guess
Its a major vulnerability in the kernel that is all 4.4.4 is a kernel tweak.

its to fix more open ssl vulnerabilities that were just exposed in the last few weeks. It was a 2.4 MB update for the Nexus 4.

I have never had a battery drain issue with my Moto X which I bought soon after its release. Any update to 4.4.4 from 4.4.3 for the Moto X will only be a small update to fix the security issue and nothing else. If you haven't gotten the 4.4.3 update yet, since it is a larger update with a new kernel, that might be the fix for your battery issues. For a lot of Moto X users the 4.4.3 update will be rolled into 4.4.4 but for those of us who got 4.4.3 weeks ago it will only be a small update the same as the nexus devices..
Can anyone that had gotten the 4.4.3 update for the moto x pull the new phone dialer for the people that is still waiting for the update? Please

Dear you are right that this is the latest update of Android 4.4.4. The main reason behind this update is that recently after the launch of Kitkat, a security virus named "Heartbleed" bug Google managed to remove that issue with this update.
Along with the security issue, many more improvements are also done in Android. The UI improvement is given for more better interface, Also the issue of fast battery draining while using the camera is also resolved with this update. But unfortunately, this update is only offered in Nexus series. No other product is having this update currently.

The AOSP changelog for 4.4.4 contains only security fixes there are no fixes for camera or battery issues. Since it is only available for nexus devices no one knows yet what other fixes a manufacturer might put into it for their individual devices. This update also isn't about heartbleed it is another vulnerability in open ssl that was just discovered after heartbleed was already patched.

I just got a message from MFN saying that I can get into the soak tests. Attached a pic as proof. If you need the OTA zip captured, sign up for the Motorola Feedback Network at their forums. I don't have access to my phone right now. That's to it.
For the benifit of the community, I request anyone who's got their XT1022 at the moment to capture the OTA zip. Ask questions here, don't worry of Motorola. They can't do much.
Noobs: A soak test is an initial update given to users to test whether it works. It won't harm your phone. (Yes, I know what you're thinking. You'll get the lollipop update. Yay!)
After you sign up on the forums, sign up for MFN. Instructions are given there. Then use this link. You'll get an updated version of the Update services. Download it, wait for it to download the update, then post it here. No excuses. If the link expires, (it will) just swap the G in w7oUG%3d with some other alphabet, except B.

Hi
Per the instructions you are supposed to keep MFN communications confidential. Furthermore, it is not an Android update/upgrade Feedback Opportunity. Start time for Motorola Feedback Network opportunities are always fluid. Rarely after we send out invites do selected users get an email that an opportunity is starting. The sharing of mis-information really hurts the masses.

How to install it on rooted + TWRP device
Even I got the update. As mine is rooted, after installing the update my phone was stuck in recovery boot loop. Clearing the Dalvik + cache in TWRP saved me.
How to install this update manually on a rooted device??
Captured the OTA
I've captured the OTA from the root/cache folder..
XDA isn't allowing me to post the link.
However, It's name is 23.26.2 instead of 23.26.8(don't know why? )
Cannot anyone guide me how to install the update.
Should i unroot and then flash it via TWRP?

Do NOT update to Lollipop on Moto E if you haven't yet. Moto E was super smooth and lag free on Kitkat. This phone is not meant to run Lollipop.

I too received this update. A problem that I have with my Moto E is the very limited internal storage - which became even less after migrating to lollipop. With app updates coming frequently, the space gets less after each update. Is there anyway I can increase it? Can't I use a 32GB memory card and make it a part of internal storage or complement it either? What are the steps, if any? I'm a noob as far as rooting and all such stuff are concerned. I'm otherwise happy with the phone, but this low internal storage...
Thanks.
How to update?
Can anyone tell me how can I install the updates manually.

Lollipop is FAR smoother than kitkat, come on, and that is because of ART, the same that makes the apps takes more storage.
How many of you have gotten the upgrade?
The Motorola website says that it will be released "pending partner support" but there have been reports of the update rolling out since July

it won't be direct update for sure, It will get 6.0 but we will have to wait a long time
Its a recently released device. Its highly unlikely not to get a direct ota update on android 6.0
At this rate we might get a stable custom ROM of marshmallow before we get the official update
Official M is likely to come, because device is rather new, And Surnia device already has the 5.1 update (at least in some countries) or only US?
or are Motorola Europe waiting for android M instead of continuing pushing 5.1 release

I've been thinking about this. I wonder if they're just getting done variants first because it become their priority and their new business model. It doesn't necessarily mean they're going to leave us all in the dark on the carriers. They also did have the disclaimer on the web page that its all subject to change. I'm going to hold off on my rage a little bit and see what happens.
To be honest the only thing I'm interested in in marshmallow is Google on tap.

Well we're not on Motos list...devices that weren't on the list for 5.X never received it. Source was pushed to AOSP on the 5th...I think its a entry level/disposable device in their eyes and they're looking to the next gen already.
