So, I was trying really hard to play TsumTsum a Disney game. Thing is, it wouldn't let me play because I had root on my phone. I was running the Optimal ROM. So I decided to try and take out the root from the SuperSU app. When I did that, it put my phone in a permanent bootloop.. Someone please help

Reflash the rom

That's what I tried doing. The thing is I can't get back to Safestrap. I'm going to that other bootloader. The one where you can only wipe cache partition and data/factory reset. And is there a certain way I could reflash it?

Does the safestrap screen popup after the reboot? For a few seconds.

I dont get it

Ok I dont get what I am doing wrong when I flash a custom rom. Its seems the only rom I can flash is the original one toast had with the Super user permission. When i try to flash other roms they just loop on the boot screen. I dont know what I am doing wrong I wipe the cache like it says to do.
Am I missing a step or what someone anyone let me know.
this happens to alot of people. you are not alone!
Wiped cache and user data?
I have tried that I have wiped the first three options on the wipe screen and still loops with every rom but one
Clockwork recovery doesn't wipe dalvik properly from what I hear and that would cause a loo.
I have tried clockwork and and just rebooted my phone into recovery the manual way and that still doesn't do it.
Please put the topic of the thread in the Title. That's what it is for.
Question, you said the Rom that toast first supplied. Have you done nand unlock? Most roms now require the second part to obtain full root. Fresh, damage, etc all require both steps of toasts root.
Wipe cache and data...i use tom manager to get in recovery mode then I wipe everything from there..i don't use rom recovery to wipe...just to get in recovery...

Yeah did all that too. idk what to do maybe blow up and start over.
Starting fresh does work wonders sometimes. Do you have a custom recovery flashed to the partition? And have you also double checked to make sure you can successfully remount the system? (just to ensure your name is unlocked, not entirely sure what the problem could be)
So, how do I start from stratch??
Hmmm. Well you could flash a stock Rom with no root and start back at toast's part 1 of rooting..... but I am quite sure you could just repeat part 2 of toasts rooting method. thats what i'd do. Start at part two and redo all of that. Keep that recovery flashed, then do all the wiping and just drop a Rom on your card and install it through reboot recovery command.
Just an update I did the rootinng over this time i used the Simple Root .2. Thats the 1 2 3 click method and that worked for me so now i can flash roms thanks guys
Congratis if you need Rom help let me know. I'm not a dev but I'm a advance user since mytouch 3g came out

Thanks I am just looking for a good Rom to install. Is there anyway to save apps you download from the market place when switching to a new Rom? Tired of re installing all my apps when I switch roms.
titanium backup
Thanks, do you guys recommend any roms?
thats like asking someone what kind of pants they like
lol. best bet is to go to the dev forum and see which ones you like. Try one try em all
True I am stuck on one for now I really like the Fresh 0.5.3. Its trimmed down and seems fast. There where a couple out there that seemed to bogged down with all the graphics and apps they left on there.

[Q] One Click vs Unlocked Bootloader

Simple question, one i didn't find a quick simple answer too.
I know the main differences between one-click root and unlocking the bootloader, and the biggest for me was the warranty. I used one-click root so just in case, I could revert back. Now my warranty is just about up, and I figure why not? My biggest question is, will it provide any benefits?
For some reason I have never been able to install themes (either update.zip files or through metamorph), I just go into an infinite boot loop. I was hoping this was the only issue. But I don't know enough to know the answer
Benefits are safer radio flashing, and if you ever **** the phone up so bad you can't boot into anything other than the bootloader, you can fastboot flash everything required to get going again.

One more little question; Should i reflash CM7 (im running the nightlies currently) when its done? I read that it will wipe all data (already got everything backed up ready to go) but I was just wondering if I would need to reflash anything right now, like CM7 or the recovery?
Take NANDroid, unlock, restore NANDroid, continue as if nothing happened.

Tons of awesomesauce I guess thats what I will go ahead and do! Thank you so very much for the quick help!
EDIT: Done, restoring the NANDroid backup now I hesitated a little bit when hitting that button though, a year of me holding back doing it because of the warranty was still making my trigger finger nervous
... And back in my rom, everything normal once again And again thanks for the quick help.
Well not so normal; I have lost my setup accounts, and everytime I try restoring a NANDroid the accounts are still gone, and there isn't an option to add in a google account and none of the google apps work. No force closes just closes the second you try to open it.
I have tried reflashing both the rom and gapps, still no good.
Am i going to need to wipe?
Certainly shouldn't do, I unlocked my bootloader in the same way and everything continued as normal.
Bit odd that you can't add your account back though, the option should be there under accounts & sync.
It sounds like what happens when you try and use CM without adding GApps
That's what I thought too. So I tried flashing gapps, nothing.
Went ahead and did a full wipe. Quite amazed so far what all android is restoring for me. Nearly all back

[Q][Root/cwm lost?]

Hi guys,
Recently I updated my i9505 to official 4.3 version XXUEMJ7...then i rooted it successfully, flashed philz cwm, it worked...i did a backup, then flashed a mod (lightning effect on lockscreen), turned on the phone. Suddenly my wifi won't work so I decided to do a restore from the backup that i made 10 minutes before that. While it was restoring i noticed that i didnt had enough storage so it skipped few things. When it was successfully restored, I turned my phone on and here are the problems:
When it has booted up i recieved so many errors and fc's like procedure system has stopped, com.google.process.gapps error and so on...
I taught ok, lets delete some HD games to gain space and restore it again. But now there was no cwm or any recovery. I can't use Google Play and every app that uses Google files (youtube, gmail, stock internet browser and even facebook)
I'm not sure if I lost root and/or cwm. My question is how to get it back? What do i need to flash over Odin? Download mode works.

Hello.
I have same problem. Nothing works. I think it's a protected bootloader that will rewrite every custom rom/recovery. I had rom for ~20 days, and was just doing my daily routine, rebooted and lost root and CWM. After this same symptoms occured.
I downloaded XXUEMJ7 prerooted now, and it was only rom that I could flash. Have no custom recovery by now and root works... But probably not for long. What's most important - wifi works. This is partial solution for using your phone while someone smarter will explain us what's going on.

Thank you. I'll try that.
EDIT: can you give me a link, and you flashed it via Odin?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
In this thread, use "ctrl+f" and write "PDA: XXUEMJ7" There will be prerooted odin flashable link.
By the way, flashing this new knox bootloader with 4.3 was worst thing that I done do my phone. And I'm really pissed off on samsung. Hope some smart devs will solve this someday and we will be able to downgrade or bypass this.
Well, I still get those errors all the time... :crying:
I taught this would remove them, but unfotunately didn't..

[Q] safe crashing!!!

hi this might be the first time you guys see this kind of post...
i have a nexus 10 32gb... which i use a lot..
my exams are nearing... and have a lot to study...
i would like to safe crash my nexus 10 until my exams get over(cant resist my temptation to play games on it )
so any safe way to remove the os and install the stock rom after my exams get over...
right now im on stock 4.3 rooted
helloo some help please
Not sure if it's enough for you but can't you just ask someone else to set a password on the device until exams are over? That way you won't have to reset everything and what-not.
edit: the alternative that you seem to be asking for is to flash a recovery and then format everything and once exams are over flash the stock ROM back. This will naturally wipe everything.

HELP!! I am stuck inside of TWRP and cannot boot into the system

Hey everyone, I have a really frustrating problem, I am currently able to boot into TWRP via hardware method and ADB can see my device as well. However I have tried to install a stock system image through TWRP and I have also tried to install another TWRP backup that a user had posted in the Q&A forum. At one time I was able to successfully boot into the system but my device said encryption unsuccessful. After wiping the system partition and trying to install these images through TWRP I am still unable to boot into the system. Whenever I install them my phone will reboot into TWRP. I am at a loss as to what to do. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would appreciate it.

I saw your other post in the other thread, but couldn't reply for some reason.. did you wipe the internal storage before restore?
Yes I did wipe the internal storage, I actually wiped everything the first time I tried to get everything in order and that was my original problem by wiping the system. I didn't realize that wiping internal storage would cause issues but that could have been one of the culprits. I think what finally solved my issue is I installed a deodexed rom and then powered down my device instead of rebooting and it booted up the rom. I had to flash SuperSU from a zip because for some reason the one that was preinstalled with that rom didn't install properly. So I installed the SuperSU zip and I am now officially rooted. Lesson learned DON'T WIPE SYSTEM OR INTERNAL STORAGE lol. I should have known better I have been rooting for awhile now, I just wasn't paying attention it happens to the best of us sometimes. Thanks for your help.

I used the deodexed ROM that is in the development forum. If I can upload it here I will if not just download it put it on your SD card and flash it. It may take a couple tries though I would suggest powering down your phone instead of rebooting it. Then turn it on and it should boot into the new rom. It's basically the same stock rom that our phone comes with. You may have to flash Chainfires SUPERSU zip that's in one of the threads. These steps should get you up and running again. Also if you can see your internal storage you're not encrypted. Hopefully that works for you. Let me know how it goes.
I wasnt able to upload the file from my phone. Just download it from here.

Flashing the rom helped me out. It's a system image file. It's basically the stock rom for our device just deodexed. What exactly happened what did you wipe after your phone booted into
TWRP? If you still have TWRP you're not bricked. If you can flash that image from the thread I copied above then you should be good. You may have to flash SUPERSU to get root back. Also after you flash make sure you're not encrypted if you can see your internal storage partition then you're not encrypted.

when I flashed the rom from your link above it just booted me into twrp again . I don't know what exactly I'm suppose to wipe. I can see internal storage tho so I guess that's a good sign but what's not good is that I can't use my phone :/ I've been rooting for years and can't seem to figure this one out.

When you flashed the rom did you power the phone down and then try to boot into the rom? That's what I did and it worked for me. So don't select reboot into system, I'm not sure why it doesn't work that way. I had to power my device down and then boot into the room. Also if you can see your internal partition in TWRP then you should be good and encryption is not enabled. I know how frustrating this is. Just keep trying eventually that rom should stick.

There a stock rom that I posted a link to a few posts back when I trying to help someone else. Download it put it on your SD card and install it. You don't need to wipe anything it will format things for you. After it installs don't reboot, power down the device and then turn it back on it should boot into the rom. That's what worked for me. I believe there was another way then what I just described it's in the same thread that I linked a few posts back. Good luck!!

Same. Though I am on US996. Not sure what I did, was exploring some behind the scenes stuff using 'hidden codes' but didn't change any values as I didn't know what they meant in most cases. I rebooted my phone and it went straight to TWRP (3.0.2-1) and it will not boot past TWRP. Occasionally after I've flashed something, it will boot into TWRP and the screen will be unresponsive to touch so I have to pull the battery, but then it will be fine again.
I was in your position not to long ago, I'm currently working on getting a .kdz recovery file for the H918. My progress will continue on it later when finals are over.
