Does anyone know if the zmax can turn on without its internal battery installed? And a plus if it turns on automatically without battery once you plug in the usb charge cable? Thanks! Trying to install this phone as more of stationary tablet. I dont want a battery in it, less hassle to deal with if in case it fails as this phone may be sitting in relatively direct sunlight or general higher than normal heat (but not enough to kill it).
Battery isn't meant to be removed. Not sure anyone's tried running it without it in there.

i tried to today with no such luck. trying to find out how to unbrick it. tried running twrp recovery and reboot into recovery mode and it has not came back on since.

This was what happened - my N2T went dead, and I charged it up to 100%. It has previously been rooted with TouchNooter, and since my market wouldn't open, I overrooted it with TouchSalsa. Or so I remember. It may be different. I just remember that I used 2 different roots over each other. Didn't think anything would happen...
Anyways, all was fine and dainty with the N2T till the day the battery's charge was depleted. Charged it to full - Battery Indicator went green - and then proceeded to unlock it.
It was still responding at the lock screen, but once I unlocked it, it went straight to my Android home screen, and it just hanged. It has been showing the Android homescreen for quite a while now (probably due to the static e-ink screen, I believe it has died for a long long time), and nothing I do will make it reboot. I thought about forcing the battery out, but it was not user removable.
n2T-recovery wouldn't work too, as I can't make it reboot.
Any answers as to how I could make it rebott and/or restore the firmware like how I could force an iDevice into DFU mode?
Any help would be appreciated, as I imported this device into my country and it is not possible for me to send it back .
If anyone has encountered this problem before, feel free to shout out here too. My Nook Simple Touch has died for around 2 weeks now. I was hoping that the battery would run out and I could charge it but.... the battery indicator STILL shows green when I plug it in.
Also, whenever I plug it into my computer, the connected sound that happens when you plug in a USB drive just sounds - followed immediately by the disconnect sound. This happens in a loop until I plug out the Nook.
Try disconnecting the battery (by opening the nook) ...

Same issue, i already open the cover and remove battery, the screen still display screensaver. Then I plugged NT into wall charger , then removed (to try make it reboot). Plugged battery into again but , plugged charger . But nothing happened, still the same.
Any other solution?
Just a hint: It appears that the Nook won't boot without the battery in.
I don't know if it's an interlock with the temperature sensor on the battery.
The chip that does the power management is capable of powering a CPU with a dead/shorted/missing battery.
Guess no one had a similar issue?
It is the same with my NST. It was bricked when I root it back to factory restore. The battery light is green, do everything you did to the battery, still no respond. I am not in the US so I can not take my NST to the local B&N store.
I get my NST only 1 week...

Hi folks,
Fortunately I've not had much necessity to post here for help. However, that's now change.
I am looking for suggestions on:
1) What might be the cause of an issue with my N4
2) What I might be able to do about it.
Here's the background:
My N4 was working fine. Stock device, 4.4.2, no rooting, etc.
The other day it spontaneously turned off. I was not able to turn it back on. "Google" would appear on the screen, but a few seconds later would vanish and device was off again.
I did figure out I could turn it on (most of the time) when it was plugged into a power source. But detaching from that power source (whilst it was running) would result in it turning off within a couple of seconds at most.
I managed to back up most of my data, whilst having it plugged in and turned on.
A few days later device tells me there's a 4.4.3 update. I update it.
Issue remains.
I then try to initiate a factory reset.
Device reboots during that process. But fails to restart.
I could no longer restart it whether plugged in or not.
It can sit in bootloader mode without being plugged in, for as long as it takes to run the battery down.
It can't be in recovery mode without ext power.
I load the TWRP recovery image. That is on and working fine.
I can access the device with fastboot command (via Windows 7)... which is how I got the TWRP image on there.
In recovery mode the device is not detected by windows, and adp command can't see the device.
This is about where I have come unstuck. I was attempting to install a clean Android 4.4.3 image onto the device. But I can't get ADB access to it. Tried on a Mac and a Windows 7 PC.
UPDATE: I did manage to complete instructions for installing new Android 4.4.3 image over fastboot mode. But even after completing the steps successfully, device won't start. Just "Google" flashes up, and devices stops after few seconds.
HARDWARE FAILURE?: It's possible this whole issue is hardware related and I'll have to ditch the device. If that likely? I've seen some people mentioning similar issues, which they resolved by replacing the USB port board. Is that likely to cause this kind of issue?
Does some kind person have any suggestions on steps I can from here?
I'd really like to recover this beast... it's my first and only smart phone, and would hate to drop to a cheap replacement cell phone for the foreseeable future.

If its happening even after a full reset and flashing of the factory image, that most likely means it is a hardware issue, maybe the battery. You can try changing it yourself or getting someone else to do it. This is what I think the issue is.

Regarding the battery... I had considered that. Although the battery was working fine right up to the time the N4 started having issues. Even during the issues... I could charge and discharge the battery as per normal. I tested this by discharging it by leaving the N4 in bootloader mode, and unplugged. After about 12 hours it would discharge completely. I was then able to charge it up, as per normal.
So that had me thinking it was not likely the battery at fault. What are your thoughts?
Very strange situation here. It seems somehow that booting into android causes some sort of power delivery issue and that results in the phone shutting down. I don't understand how that power delivery issue can exist within the android os but not within the bootloader if it was a hardware issue, especially after flashing the full factory image. I'm not sure, but I would still bet it a hardware issue, although perhaps not the battery.

It sounds like the battery to me, running in bootloader mode requires nowhere near the current that the full OS does.

I apologise for taking so long to respond. I don't seem to be getting notifications. Will check into that.
With regard to the battery... When the phone is fully charged (and it was just like normal... prior to me toasting the OS in an attempt to refresh the device, AND it charges normally by plugging it in when turned off or in BL mode), it takes perhaps 12 hours or more to discharge, with the screen on permanently, whilst I leave it in BL mode. So if the battery is the issue, it's certainly got nothing to do with the battery being able to receive and take a charge. That happens absolutely per normal.
What I am wondering, however, if perhaps the USB board could be faulty? I actually replaced the USB board a month or two ago, as the connector on the original one died and Google refused to repair it on warranty because there was a crack on the back glass. The replacement is an LG part. I am wondering if there might be something in that logic of that board that is screwing up... such that when the cable is unplugged the device somehow "thinks" it is plugged in and thus in charge mode, rather than drawing from the battery. I am not sure where the logic for the device to determine whether to draw current from battery or USB resides. But is it feasible that this might be going on?
I'd love to revive this little brick back to smart-phone status.

I've flashed my s5 with popwizh and everything went well. But after a full battery discharge the phone won't turn back on.
Battery is good and charger.
volUp+home+power doesn't do anything
volDown+home+power doesn't start download recovery
tried to boot from sdcard with a debrick img but no luck.
What more can I do? I don't want a paperweight please.

If you can't get it to even turn on or enter download mode, there's not a lot you can do
Try removing everything like SIM and SDCard, remove the battery too and only connect the charger, see if you can get any signs of life at all
If not, it sounds like a hardware problem
Its to much of a coincidence to be a hardware problem, I refuse to give up just yet.
So far all the posts that resemble to my situation go on an on about flashing a debrick.img to the sdcard and boot from there. Dead boots and stuff.

I'm not saying 100% this is the problem, but most devices die when they are powered on, as that is when they are put under the highest stress
For example, I put away my treadmill in the corner of the room about 6 months ago, working - came to use it a few weeks ago, dead
Looks like pixies killed it, but actually it was when it was powered up again, just looks like it died when it was off

If you at least had a sign of life, we could go from there, but without any power at all, I have no clue

From what I understand the phone won't turn on because the boot partition is gone, so if I manage to boot from the sd card to the download recovery, I can then use odin to flash it back to stock android.
Am i wrong?
Are you even getting the logo on screen when you turn it on?

You said there is no power at all, that's not a boot partition problem
Man if it's not turning on and there's no reaction when you press the power button then there's two things I can suggest : the power button is not working; or when the battery went completely dead its safety system thing could have turned on, which means you have to put it to charge as long as it takes for it to turn on again. Plus if your phone was exposed to water which I doubt its power controller could have gotten burnt
Have you plugged it into a pc? See if it registers with that and if it dies but still doesn't boot just try to leave it on the charger for a few hours even if it's fully charged. Then battery out for 10 secs wait... wait... wait... and turn it on plugged into the wall. Or at least try. If that still won't work samsung repair Centre for you

Try to plug the phone to adb and see if it recognize it , if it's not i don't know maybe try another battery to see if its battery related or other hardware composant
Stock .21 firmware. Never tried any other ROMs. Battery went down to 1% last night, charged it on stock charger to 30% then moved it to a different charger. An hour after that I got a call, I hanged up and about 1 hour later I heard the phone buzzing every 30 sec or so, I looked at it and realized it's in bootloop. If I press Vol- and Power I can get it in fastboot and with Vol+ and Power in Recovery. Can't figure out what to do from there though.
Update: Pressed -+ and left it the whole day in that mode. Came home, and it booted up and looked fine for about 3 minutes then it shut down by itself. It seems to me that there's some sort of memory/storage corruption. Any suggestions on how to proceed from here?
Phone booted normally and I was able to use it for about 12 hours. I was doing a Whatsapp backup this morning when it shut down and got into the bootloop again.

If you are using stock, immediately get rid of your usb c cable and buy a new one. There could be an issue with the cable that is causing problems with your battery.
Try to keep the charge percentage between 20% and 80%
Finally, your battery stats may be off. To resolve a battery stats issue you will need to reset the phone. Which again, if you are using stock and have never used a custom rom. You should definitely do a factory reset.
Same issue on 2 different chargers with 2 different cables that used to work well until now. None of the cables are stock. One of the chargers is stock, the other one aftermarket. My wife's S3 doesn't have any issues using the same cables and chargers. Issue seems to be happening when battery is full or almost full. Phone gets into a soft reset bootloop. I let it drain yesterday and was able to get in and do a factory reset. I then added my account and left it installing and updating apps overnight, while connected to the charger. Woke up with the phone off and after pressing power for 12 sec it got into the bootloop again. As you can imagine, it's impossible to keep the battery under 80%. Would it help if I try a custom rom? Maybe a new battery? I'm open to any suggestions as I really like this phone and can't find anything similar at a reasonable price.
So phone still reboots when battery is high. I can however get into Fastboot Mode and Tool All-In-One detects it. Tried to unlock the bootloader in the tool but it failed. I'm willing to try anything to get the phone back up and running but not sure where to start. Would really appreciate some guidance.
It really sounds like the battery is bad. You can buy a new battery for $8 .
If you replace the battery : Do NOT use a hairdryer to remove the screen. You will need a heat gun, they cost 7 dollars at harbor freight.
With a heat gun the lcd screen will practically fall off into your gloved hand.
I was going to offer to connect remotely and help with unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP, Root and a Rom. But I sincerely believe that you need to get a new battery first.

Error system ui stop working came and I decided to reboot it by normal way. However the display goes off and now no LED, no charging and not even opening into download mode or recovery.
Is my phone dead?

If I want to recover data out of it, is it possible to send it to manufacturer and recover it somehow? or alternate way?

According to me your network ic or capacitor is shorted. you should go to samsung but they will ask you lot of money. so go to a nearby phone repair shop.
It would have been great if my phone gave me time until Note20 comes up, now I will stick with my old spare phone until then.
I was curious if it can revive, because my phone was getting 0 care from me, I had my screen wet and lost the display two time however it revive after drying it for few day. Now it had enough of me I think. RIP now.
