Hi!
First of all, I just bought my new Z3 Compact
I want to use the PS4 Remote Play when I'm not in my house but I know that is only by WiFi network. I saw the xposed FakeWiFi app, but to install it I need the ROOT access in my device.
The thing is that I dont get the update yet and I still waiting in 5.0.2 from Spain (I use the phone in Argentina) and I want to know if I root my device, when the Lollipop update finally comes to me, I going to have any issue with the update?
I come from an Moto G that if you haven't 100% stock, the OTA fails and sometime hardbricks the phones.
One last thing. Anybody know when the OTA its arrive in my phone?
Thanks You!
Try updateing with Sony PC compangion

[Q] Rogers Xperia Play R800aAT&T in US; How to update to 2.3.3 without losing Root?
Can anyone please help me update my Rogers sim unlocked gingerbreak rooted Xperia Play in the United States to 2.3.3 without losing my root access? I heard OTA update was the only way but since I'm in America using AT&T it just says that it can't connect to the network. If I use the PC Companion software then I beleive I will lose my root. Any help out there?
You need to follow the instructions in the Working Root thread. The 2.3.2 ROM you flash is a world version, not a carrier version, so you'll get the 2.3.3 update OTA no problems.

Even if you have an AT&T sim you can still update over the air. You can also use the desktop software.
Rumor is the update is coming out tomorrow over the air. I can see it on the desktop program already but I haven't updated yet.
Have you tried putting your xperia play on wifi then checking for an update?
Hey guys. First off, I'm new (this is my first post) so if I say/ do something wrong, please be considerate.
So I read somewhere that the new version of Android, Android L, might be coming out as early as December for the Samsung Galaxy S5. Earlier this year I got a Galaxy S5 and as it is my first Android, I wanted it to be the best it could. After a while I decided that it would be a good idea to root it, but as it is a Verizon model, it didn't look like I was going to be able to since the bootloader is locked. Luckily once towelroot came out I was able to root it, thankfully.
A month or two later, an OTA update came out, for Kitkat 4.4.3, and after several tries at installing it, I figured out the hard way that once you root your phone, OTA updates don't work anymore.
With all this being said, I'm a little concerned that I wont be able to get the next version of android on my phone. Even if it does come out in an OTA update, I know I wont be able to install it and since the bootloader is locked, I wont be able to flash it onto my phone.
Is there any hope that I'll be able to get Android L, or am I going to be stuck with Kitkat 4.4.2?

I don't know anything about L coming out but you can get all the updates you want. All the info you need is in threads here and in the general forum. You can always odin back to stock and take OTA updates. Or you can install which ever version you want via odin and then root from there.
Edit: In reading an article a while ago over @ techradar, I think we'll be seeing L sooner than you think. The thinking seems to go that when the Note 4 drops with L on it, Sammy will push it to their top tier phones right away after that...
Hello all developers, I have question, I worked the root on 4.4.2, and then returned with the latest 4.4.4, using Flash tool, add D6503_23.0.1.A.0.167_Vodafone DE. Will I receive notification of updates from Sony? When come Lolipop i got notification in Sony update center?
Thanks!
Yes but if your system is modified it will fail verifacation when you try updating
If you only have root on a stock rom and want to update to Lollipop later you just have to unroot then If u have a custom rom never do ota updates for android,do only sony app updates like walkman, gallery etc.
Thank developers . I checked, and my software is not root, when I go to update sony center, and got "Your device is up to date!" That is okay? I only tried to root I managed 4.4.2. but I decided to go back to 4.4.4, I did it over the flash tool. I should now get updates from Sony. If not root, mobile need give updates and notification from sony, i think... ? ...

Heyo everybody! I just got this ota update message: "Essential system updates for google android - .7924"
Not sure what to do. I've had this tablet rooted for a while and I'm worried that updating will wipe out the root. Also, is it safe and/or possible to update the slate 7 extreme to lollipop and root it successfully?
Anyone?
Same here... I crash each time on reboot and have to reflash twrp and restore...
OTA...Update .. OK
I dont really care much for this tablet anymore until Lollipop arrives, like nVidia promised.
I updated in hoping to see Lollipop, but alas only for KIT KAT.
Update worked fine, and since I am on STOCK/NON-ROOTED, no issues whats so ever.
Fixed

I finally managed to install the (kitkat) auto update and retain root status. As with previous updates (which I had forgotten about), I had to extract and modify the update header first, then flash it with TWRP.
Not attempted Lollipop yet.
Hello everyone, i was wondering why my Nova Plus didn't get so far the update for EMUI 5.0. I saw in many other posts that other users received Nougat since Q1 2017, OTA. Since the phone doesn't seems to be widespread, i couldn't find info from other possessors about their firmwares anywhere on the net.. so here i am asking .
My phone is stock, never rooted nor unlocked, and i didn't found any recovery/ROM compatible with it here on XDA.. not to mention the warranty, which i wouldn't void until some cool Oreo firmware comes out (i wonder if it will ever happen..why such a great device comes with such few custom firmwares? ).
I even tried via HiSuite, but no updates at all. Should I try with a factory reset, or should I simply wait for an incoming OTA?
I apologize for the repeatitive thread, but you guys are great and I'm sure you'll have some good advices
Thank you
Gert
Solved through firmware finder app on the play store, updated via proxy.
