Hi
one week age, I used galaxy note3 adapter for my s5.
from that day, it seems my battery life became shorter (before that i charged my phone every 2days and now i charge it 1.5 day)
was that adapter harmful for my phone? how can I fix it?
What are the output specs of the NOTE 3 charger?
Check them against the S5 charger and you'll have your answer

Unfortunately I don't know the specs.
you mean any difference between them will be harmful??

Well... yea, if the NOTE3 charger is the wrong voltage, you could damage your phone
That's why you have specific chargers for specific devices...

Okay so other than the charger that comes with this phone, can I use any other charger? Like a samsung galaxy charger? Don't want wireless charger.

There's a whole world of chargers that you can use but, yes, you can use the any Samsung Galaxy S or Galaxy Nexus charger. Anything Micro (not Mini) USB will do the job

Cheers. Just thought there was some difference in the ratings of the chargers and didn't want to spoil this phone. So double checked.
Thanks!

Galaxy S and Galaxy Nexus chargers supply 1A but the Nexus 4 uses up to 1.2A so it may charge slightly slower but shouldn't damage the battery.
Hi
Can anyone tell me with total certainty if the S3 and S4 mains chargers are interchangeable with either device without long term damage? My S3 charger delivers 0.7A and my S4 charger delivers 2.0A
Obviously I have loads of S3 chargers and don't want to fork out for more for the S4 - would the S3 charger just charge the S4 slower? Would using the S4 charger damage the S3? I still need to use both phones (work/home)
Thanks!
Paul
Yes, the S3 charger will just charge the S4 at about 1/3 the speed of the S4 charger. Otherwise, it's fine.

Thanks, I would expect that really but how about the other way around? Does anyone know what the max charge rate is for the S3? If I plug the S4 charger in it provides 2A is this too much for the S3? I have looked around and can't find any max charge rates :s

Well you should test it out, have a battery app or widget on the S3 and charge it with the S4 charger. If it gets too hot, then its best to stick with the S3 charger.

No, I think stuartv is making joke. With different currency, I think you can not use S3 charger to charge S4.

No, it's not a different current, it's just different power with the same voltage. Therefore, both chargers are interchangeable and it won't break any phone, no worries. If the S3 can't drain 2W (I don't know if it can), it'll just drain less.

ah you mean the phone draws the power rather than the adapter pushing the power through the circuit?
Charging any battery at a higher current will shorten the life of the battery, only sightly at those levels though, and vise versa charging at lowers currents will increase the life of the battery

damned physics!
But do the sake of fast charging, I'd just buy anoher battery 2 years later for £10

Hey ,
i have lost my s2 charger and charging the phone by the laptop takes a lot of time , so i was wondering is it okay to use the s4 charger on the s2 ? thanks .
I wouldn't do it but I'm no expert.
My gf used her Galaxy tab charger on her Galaxy phone and after a while it destroyed the battery

NO RISK at all, maximum current charge value is fixed by internal HW/SW phone.
Charge may be quicker.
I have many different chargers charging many different devices without issue. only the charging time may vary (like using computer USB port).

I use my S2 charger, or maybe its my Gtab charger or possibly my Note or Note 10.1 charger to charge any and all... No problems here. Samsung just uses a generic, but branded, charger on all their phones. The only difference I have really seen is the connections for different countries, and that is usually just the different adaptor that slots into the charger....
My adapter is getting warm while charging. I'm on my 2nd note 3 because the other one stopped charging. That could have been the cord as well, but I was still under warranty and got a new device. I have a LG travel adpter that is probably for a G2 and that adapter seems to handle more power based on the numbers. I'm not an expert though.
It's normal for chargers to get warm, particularly modern ones. Lots of charge goong through it.
What are the numbers for the g2's charger?

Samsung: Input/100-240v - 50-60Hz 0.35A
output/5.3v
LG: Input/ 100-240 60-90Hz
output: 5.0v
small writing, but thats what it looks like. I thought the LG said 6.0v at first. Seems like the samsung outputs more

.3v isn't a lot, since you lose about .3v in transfer (so 5.0 is actually 4.7). Not enough to make a difference in heat, anyway.
Is there an ampere value listed after the output voltage? I know it should be 2.0 or 2.1 for the Samsung one. The ampere value determines charging rate on equal voltages, and so a 2.0A charger puts out twice the charge as a 1.0A charger. That's generally why one overheats when another doesn't.

Using chargers and batteries that are not specifically for Note 3 can void your warranty (and basically all the horror stories with S4 battery problems so far were from either a non-Samsung battery or a non-Samsung charger).
The Samsung USB3 cable has the extra thing with the extra pins for USB3 - I would suggest using that cable only with the Samsung charger OR with a PC when you need a USB3 connection. For everything else you can use a good USB2 cable (those are like 1-3 EUR, maybe cheaper in other parts of the world).
All that being said - the battery will last longer is you recharge it slower and if kept cooler.
Hey guys,
I just plugged my note 4 into my car charger (anker charger, oem note 4 cable) and couldn't get it to charge. It charges my note 3 no problem.
I also have no problems charging my note 4 with wall chargers.
Any help?
I've got the "Anker® 18W / 3.6A Car Charger with Built-in Micro USB Cord for Android" and it's actually CHARGING my Note 4 when using GPS navigation and playing music! My Note 2 wouldn't charge, but it would hold charge under the same conditions.
What model charger are you using?

I actually can't find it on the charger itself or even Amazon. It's relatively new, I thought it was a 2.0/2.1 amp charger (2x USB). Definitely Anker though.

Are you using both usb's at the same time? If so, it's splitting the power, so you'll get a slow charge.

Sorry, I should have specified - the only thing plugged into the charger is my Note 4.
Shoot, maybe I just need to grab another charger. Thought I made a good decision with that Anker.
Thanks for your reply by the way

If you get the one I listed, it works for sure. Great charger and it's been the only one my wife hasn't been able to destroy.
Will the car charger also do the 50% in 30min charging ?

Hmm.. this mentions rapid charging, I wonder if it's as fast as the wall charger
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECA-U21CBEBXAR
The only chargers that work with the new fast charging technology are ones that are purpose built and have the ability to switch between 9V and 5V,they are quite uncommon.
I have this charger http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D82O68Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and it charges my note 4 while running Waze and tethering my Radar Detector via Bluetooth (which also uses GPS)....and it charges my wife's S5 at the same time
Using an afer market 2.1a charger and an S3 cable, charges just fine.

I believe Samsung has stated it's a 9v charger instead of the conventional 5v charger.
Did some more research and found this:
http://www.incipio.com/chargers/car-chargers/quick-charge-2-0-single-port-usb-charger.html#
From the Engadget review, "I clarified with Samsung that it chose a proprietary solution instead of licensing Qualcomm's QuickCharge tech, but it insisted that you could still use QuickCharge 2.0-compatible chargers to achieve the same results."

[FAQs] Smart Phone : Galaxy Note 4- To use fast charging, what kind of charger should be used?
Fast charging uses battery charging technology that charges the
battery faster by increasing the charging power. The Galaxy Note 4
device supports Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charging feature and
Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.
To use Fast charging on your device, connect it to a battery charger
that supports Adaptive Fast Charging or Quick Charge 2.0.
