Hello to everyone!
I have one simple question: do I risk something if I charge the Note with another charger than the original one?
I don-t know, but I think no.
I charged many time my note with htc charger and gs2 charger.
Ciao

I almosr never use the original charger. I use the charger that came with the bluetooth headset and everything is fine
It doesn't matter what kind of charger you have. The only thing you must look at is the voltage of the source (5V DC) and it must be a micro usb plug

im using my old htc hd2 charger as the samsung one seems to have packed up and isnt charging properly
The easiest way to charge your Note is of course via a USB>Micro USB cord plugged into a laptop or PC (where you are guaranteed the voltage is correct), however if you are using a generic or knock off wall wart charger than provides a micro USB connector there is some small chance that it will not charge your Note.. look for the charging icon and if its not charging, toss the charger and get another.
There is no specific risk to the device, provided that it (the charger) has a micro-usb intended for charging generic devices..its just that some modern portable devices have a stricter requirement (tighter tolerance) for charging voltage and simply will not charge outside that voltage range.. my BB9930 does exactly this..

Since all micro/mini usb chargers have the same voltage, and vary only in the power output - the only problem you could face is slow charging, or no charging at all if the charger doesn't have enough juice. But it certainly won't harm the phone.
I'm using my old Nokia N900 charger without problems
I'm using an old HTC mains-to-USB and a Nokia microUSB cable...
My stock charger has a slight squeal, so I usually use the charger for my BB Curve 9300. Does totally fine.
My Note was purchased from expansys UK but shipped in from mainland Europe. As it was to be sold in the UK, expansys had to supply a UK adapter rather than an EU one ...I received an HTC adapter with my phone. At first, I was worried, but discovered that it works beautifully with my Note. Charges faster than generic Samsung chargers too! You should be fine using another standard charger

For the first 3 weeks I was using a blackberry (original) Bold II charger.
I noticed charge time was too long. And maybe even battery life was shorter.
Im not 100% sure about the second statement but the first is confirmed.
When I started using the Note charger it was faster. Not super fast compared to iPhone or iPad but faster than using the Bold charger.
I never use my samy charger..Im using my DHD charger..no problem at all..

Tested three microusb from my "old" htc hd2, two original nokia microusb, and a sony ericsson original microusb.

(the nokia cable also cant work with hd2!!)
microusb is an standard???
HTC minijack stereo earphone dont work with samsung, also dont work the nokia earphone...
minijack stereo is an standard???

Most modern USB chargers should be fine (I use my old iPhone charger for the Note, for example.) Watch the power output though - some tablet chargers are rated at 2A+ and that could overdrive your charging circuit and cause damage. If you make sure your charger is about 1A (and 5V, obviously) then you should be fine.

Make sure it gives you 1A of output and you are fine!

Well emuX said it all!
1A of output and 5V and you are fine!
Actually the charging current is limited by internal resistance of the battery, so the battery effectively "accepts" charge. Charging current is not "pushed" in by the charger...
obviously a charger from say a BB is likely to be current limited and so longer charging times would be expected, but an iPad charger will work fine.

I wouldnt worry too much, I charge my note with my iPhone charger purely because the USB port faces a different way so I can actually fit it on my plug extensions without loseing 2 sockets.
Pretty much anything with an output of 5Vdc and a minimum of 1A will do just fine.
So I am coming from a Galaxy Nexus and was trying to use the little 1amp Samsung chargers from that. Noticed the bundled charger provides a bit more output at 1.8 amps?
Anyways, switched to the bundled charger but the phone complains at me unless I use the bundled cable. Any ideas?

I don't think that's true, I had my charger and cable from my Note 2 which is a 2 amp charger, and that didn't allow my G2 to charge at full speed either.

This is frustrating to me. I also had one of those monster monoprice cables. I used it for my Galaxy Nexus and then for my Galaxy S3.
Does anyone have a long USB cable that will charge this phone? If so, where did you get it? What kind is it?

Emailed monoprice support, will see what they say.
I'm having the same issues. All of my microUSB cables give me the error. Anybody know of rated cables that will work? Seems crazy that I get the error with every single one of my cables, but not with LG's bundled cable. I've used these cables to charge a DNA, GS4, HTC One, Nexus 7, etc. with no issues at all.
Might be a long shot but could vzw/att have a setting in the build somewhere that causes this? I know it's a long shot but we all know how greedy they are.

Isn't this phone equipped with some type of different usb that allows for faster charging? I think I read that somewhere. The other cables may not have the proper viber/wires to handle the current...

When I used the LG charger & cable my phone charges the fastest I've ever seen any phone charge before.
Anybody know where to buy certified Quick Charge 2.0 chargers/cables? I know my DNA had Quick Charge 1.0 and I loved it, but I could never find more chargers or cables that supported it.
Same here. 50% to 100% in an hour and a half.
Keep in mind that there is a benefit to battery longevity when charging at lower currents.

So heres what they said.
Thank you for contacting Monoprice.com. In regards to your inquiry, the USB specification limits the length of a cable between USB 2.0 devices to 5 meters (or about 16 feet) and for USB 1.0 the limit is 3 meters (which is about 10 feet.) The longer the cable the more power it would require to charge devices and sync. You might need a active USB cable since the LG phone would require more power. At this particular length the power would charge slower. What is the the length of the OEM cable from LG that you're using? With the 1.8A charger with the 15ft cable still slower compared to the shorter USB cables?

Hey guys,
I just plugged my note 4 into my car charger (anker charger, oem note 4 cable) and couldn't get it to charge. It charges my note 3 no problem.
I also have no problems charging my note 4 with wall chargers.
Any help?
I've got the "Anker® 18W / 3.6A Car Charger with Built-in Micro USB Cord for Android" and it's actually CHARGING my Note 4 when using GPS navigation and playing music! My Note 2 wouldn't charge, but it would hold charge under the same conditions.
What model charger are you using?

I actually can't find it on the charger itself or even Amazon. It's relatively new, I thought it was a 2.0/2.1 amp charger (2x USB). Definitely Anker though.

Are you using both usb's at the same time? If so, it's splitting the power, so you'll get a slow charge.

Sorry, I should have specified - the only thing plugged into the charger is my Note 4.
Shoot, maybe I just need to grab another charger. Thought I made a good decision with that Anker.
Thanks for your reply by the way

Hmm.. this mentions rapid charging, I wonder if it's as fast as the wall charger
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECA-U21CBEBXAR
The only chargers that work with the new fast charging technology are ones that are purpose built and have the ability to switch between 9V and 5V,they are quite uncommon.
I have this charger http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D82O68Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and it charges my note 4 while running Waze and tethering my Radar Detector via Bluetooth (which also uses GPS)....and it charges my wife's S5 at the same time
Using an afer market 2.1a charger and an S3 cable, charges just fine.

I believe Samsung has stated it's a 9v charger instead of the conventional 5v charger.
Did some more research and found this:
http://www.incipio.com/chargers/car-chargers/quick-charge-2-0-single-port-usb-charger.html#
From the Engadget review, "I clarified with Samsung that it chose a proprietary solution instead of licensing Qualcomm's QuickCharge tech, but it insisted that you could still use QuickCharge 2.0-compatible chargers to achieve the same results."
Also from http://www.samsung.com/sa_en/support/skp/faq/1063730?CID=AFL-hq-mul-0813-11000170
[FAQs] Smart Phone : Galaxy Note 4- To use fast charging, what kind of charger should be used?
Fast charging uses battery charging technology that charges the
battery faster by increasing the charging power. The Galaxy Note 4
device supports Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charging feature and
Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.
To use Fast charging on your device, connect it to a battery charger
that supports Adaptive Fast Charging or Quick Charge 2.0.
Hope that helps someone, credit goes to the users over at http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...-charger-supports-fast-charging-note-4-a.html

Thank you sir.
Mine works with variety of QC2.0 chargers
Note 7 one (with retail package)
Anker
Tronsmart.
I have charged mine with my brothers stock nexus 6p charger and it charges pretty fast. Havent timed them or anything but its definitely as fast as the stock v20 one. Only problem is if its safe or not since there is that whole debate about Qualcomm's QC 3 not being compliant with the USB Type-C charging standard.
Hello,
can someone confirm with which 3rd party chargers Adaptive Fast Charging is working on the Galaxy A5 (2017). And with which cable?
I've buyed an Anker charger from Amazon a few months back and a cable, but fast charging didn't work. But a friend of mine has a LG charger and surprisingly my phone stated that it was fast charging back when I used it.
I'm planning to buy a new charger and more importantly a new cable (the original from Samsung is crap), but I like to know if they support fast charging or not.
Best regards

You just need the adapter to have fast charging. Any cable can do the rest.
