I hope that I can properly explain my issue this time and hope to get a response this time. A friend of mine had brought to me his galaxy note 3 that was dropped by his son in water and I have myself the wife's S4 that was also dropped in water. My S4 I put it in the rice and few days later it was back alive but then after few months the phone would start but you cant see anything on the screen. THE SCREEN WAS TOTALLY BLACK. I thought the screen had died but it is flickering when I turn on the phone While my friend's note 3 after he put it in rice we can also hear it turning on but also the screen is black but no screen flickering in the case of note 3. S4 can be read by the phone and can get info and backup. Note 3 undetectable by the PC and cant get info out. does anybody have a diagnosis for both devices. If so what are the remedies that we can use. The S4 might not be that needed since I have extracted all the relevant information and have a new device. But the Note 3 is the main device since my friend also needs the info on the phone and he is welling to forget about the phone if phone is unrepairable
Can I kindly request your assistance with the 2 devices

Tried it but no go
I once dropped my Moto X in water, then switched it off and kept it in Sunlight for a day and turned it on. It was good.
put it in a bag of (uncooked) rice for a week or more... That should absorb any moisture....

Hi,
Forgive the next description. My son lost his phone "Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360" a while back and we found it a few months later buried in his bedroom under his bed LOL
Anyway I plugged it in to charge as could not turn it on and the phone screen lit up with the charge battery picture and the phone went dead. So I phone Samsung and they took it in for repair and they returned it to us and said it could not be repaired due to water damage.
So the phone was a brick, Anyway I have left it is the draw for a while and decided to take it apart to look for water damage and not find anything the only thing I could see was that the water sticker in it was a little pink but the X's were still intact. So I put the phone back together and hey it works. The phone was in a case from the day it was brought.
Well I have charged the battery fully and the phone works but in a strange way I have too Jump Start the phone buy plugging into the mains and then the phone will start and stay on all day, But every time it is turned off it resets the time to 00:00 01/01/2011
And then I have to jump start it all over again
It was returned with just a few weeks left in it first year so now it is out of warranty.. So was it water damaged or what or was it a case of Samsung cutting corners and just returning the phone..
Any Ideas
The resetting of date problem has been with me since the first day..so u guess its normal unless i am too ignorant to that prob. Btw, ur name give me more lolz than the bed incident you mentioned.

Hello everybody
I purchased the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 not too long ago (about few weeks ago). I rooted it, and I installed the needed applications for gaining the superuser access and then the camera mod by kevinrocksman and nothing else.
Then some water was spilt on top of my pocket where the phone was, and some of it got into the pocket. I mean the phone was not soaked wet or anything, it was slightly wet on the surface. Then I noticed some screen flickering, and after that it got worse. It barely responded to the power button, and when it did, the lock screen appeared with green flashes and went away. Then I could randomly start the phone and maybe get to the lock screen, everytime accompanied by this green effect. Then the phone seemed to go down to the Sudden Death Syndrome stage, where while pressing the power on button nothing happens other than an vibration, and blue notification light, and that's it. Is there anything I should try to do with it? Even when connecting the phone through the original USB-cable, it shows no files in there. Do you think it had something to do with the rooting, or was it hardware failure due to the water? It surely seems like a hardware failure, but it's strange that it didn't really get that wet. It was of course stupid risk to take to root warranty-active phone, but I think I should be safe with the warranty since the phone seems to be so destroyed that there is no traces left of the rooting process whatsoever.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Best regards

Sorry for your loss but you should have pulled out your battery immediately & put your phone in rice bag when screen flickering was there. After few days you should have turned it on.Probably the little water damaged the screen?

That is true. Maybe I could change the screen digitizer.
"Suddenly" dying? ?
It's water damage. It doesn't need to be sunk in water to be affected, sometimes all it takes is a few drops. And if that's the case, then you're not covered by warranty, so root is irrelevant.
Having said that, I'd personally pretend to be clueless and send it to Samsung nonetheless, saying "Don't know what happened, it just stopped working". Good luck!
Put in on rice for day or two (without battery) and try again. I had phones submerged in salt water (ocean). I soaked them in destiled water for few hours to flush salt water from inside, dried them on rice for a week and they still working.

Hi guys,
last friday i woke up grabbing my note 3 and felt it was wet. I did not really realized it but it felt strange....I turned the screenlock of and the display stood Black...But the LED was blinking normal...I took out the battery putted it backin and tried it again....Same...few hours later again...same...I bought rice and let it sit in 500g of it til yesterday...as i putted in the headphones it suddenly became flimmering. There were yellow lines everywhere. I putted it in rice again...today i used it for an hour...it's unusable. they will come and go how they want...Sometimes it's 100% fine and mostly not...I'mscared to use it like this....i'm scared that it will stay there with those lines forever...
I dumped my s1 in the toilet. 2 secs under water...thank god that it was before using the toilet...xD i cleaned it let it dry for a while and it was ok...display began flimmering but not yellow it was multiple colours. And then all of the sudden it stood like this. Looked like those old colourdisplays where you can see every pixel...
Knox is triggered. I guess flashing lollipop didn't untriggered knox...i guess!
What should i do now? Open it and try to clean it? Maybe it's corroded...
My S2 Kills me...Please Help...*criesincorner*
thx in advance for your help and patience!
cheers
suggestions anyone?
S2 Knox s1 open fine lines working
Wth are you telling? The question should be easy to READ and Understand to be able to help you.

Weird thread...
Hello,
I dropped my Note 3 which had Tempered Glass, but the drop was severe and the screen cracked inside.
I wonder that something else might have gone bad.
When i turn on the phone - it wont vibrate and the capacitive buttons are not flashing for a sec.
Any help what can be broken?
Cheers
Wait, let me get my crystal ball...

What can be broken,, lots of stuff get an engineer to dismantle .
Well Note 4 fell in the water and now the screen doesn't turn on, just the light goes on and it vibrates on start. What do you think is the problem?

Put it on a bowl of rice for 2~3 days and after that try to power it up again... it will work . or keep it on a dry place for 2 days at least & try to power it up ... let me know
Take the battery out first before putting the phone in a box full of rice
Thanks, I already did all that couple of weeks ago.
I'm guessing the LCD is faulty, maybe motherboard?
