Augen android tablet

I got mine today and can't install applications for the market?? Also how do I calibrate the screen so it is more sensitive??? Anybody doing and development on the tablet?? Also is there going to be a thread for this???

interesting. im not the only one not able to install from the market. beware of the card slot. almost impossible getting the thing out as it will hang on the case on the screen side.

Oh i've got a couple questions even though it's not getting a good review i'm probably still gonna get one. Can you get into usb debugging? Did you apply the patches? how did that affect the tablet? Can you download a terminal app? if so can "su" Whats the recovery look loke

Hopefully someone gets one with some dev skills or just is able to make a custom recovery. Once that happens it's on. I'm wondering if adw launcher can be installed on this thing

I also got one, there's a patch coming tomorrow for the market problem. I can't install apps with APK's in gmail either without a katcher.
It's a sweet device so far. it's resistive touch, I don't think you can turn up sensitivity but we'll see.
ES File Manager comes Pre Loaded.. you can add any app APK to the SD card. and use ES File Manager to install
Installing Quadrant, and some games right now.. I'll post back

I picked this up and I am going to be creating a dev thread on this. I am not an expert on this by any means but I did get it rooted, got Titanium Backup on it (had to install Download Crutch from my SD card than downloaded TB from an APK I found online), and got ADW on it. Runs OK, I don't like the resistive screen and I agree with others that this is a really rigged build on this device. Market issue for me too, can't wait for the update.

Edit: Quadrant got just below the Moto droid according to there results. it was around 300 or so if i remember right. it was just below the Droid. It got good and smooth FPS during the 3D tests. It has the Mali-200 GPU inside with a texture unit rate of 8 units.
Linpack it scored a 3.962 or something but then i closed it. It's charging right now.. Does anyone know why it says I have Edge service and Roaming? as well as Telelco Loco for the service where my phone says T-Mobile. hjaha

G2 Semi-Perma Root

So the guys over at MoDaCo (specifically the Admin, Paul O'Brien) came up with a handy little app that will temp root the g2 every time you boot up. You can get it in two versions: Manual and Load on Boot.
I was going to post a URL here but it's not letting me because I'm a new user. I'll seperate it up so it's not URL format and you can just backspace through it.

It's not permanent root, but it's damn close. It should at least appease the masses that want wifi tether and simple stuff like that.

Right, the guy over at modaco has a post in the G2 dev section here with his stuff. It worked great for me, but there are some folks that it's not working for.

Tried this and it works great. Make sure you have USB debugging turned on or it will loop forever and need a forceclose. This is good enough for me, for now.

Agree, it's good to see the su screen again.
One thing that I'd like to note that FOR ME the phone seems to stumble a bit upon startup due to the app launching which sometimes causes root only apps not to function correctly. A simple re-launch of VISIONary rectifies this.

Yessir, I'm rooted via Visionary right now as well. Wow superuser had some cool new UI changes over the year and a half while I was with a iPhone. Damn it feels good to be back on Android
Can't wait for the perm root to actually use adblock, overclock, and remove photobucket.

Sorry about that. I searched the forum before I posted but I only searched the G2 General forum. I thought it was a little odd that it hadn't shown up yet. Nevertheless this is a great app. Barnacle WiFi is working perfectly and that's about all I needed for right now.

you can disable the stock apps. its not uninstalling but they become hidden and inactive. theres a thread on it.
in terminal, its
su
pm disable *package name - usually com.*nameofservicehere*.apk

Yup, it's easy as pie. Just look up VISIONary in the Android market, download, install, run, and you are good to go!

Have we obtained root? Can I help?

Do we need help getting root on this phone, or is everything the same as the international version? I have my phone in hand, if anyone needs system dumps or anything like that.

No, because then who are the dumb a$$es going to blame and bug if it does not work, or breaks something.
Not a smart idea for a dev to post something that they are not sure of, and possibly have people lose faith in that developer. I know as a dev I would not post ANYTHING, that I was not sure if it worked or not. Even if I did it on a test unit, and not a retail phone.

The SIII lets you uninstall [disable] almost any stock app you want.
After disabling a ****-load of stock apps, I am getting awesome battery & performance from my S III.
I'd like to see some theming and custom ROM's and overclocking though of course.

Eh, that's debateable. In the end it boils down to what you want to do with the device. For me? I want root so I can reinstall Cerberus to the System folder so even if someone wipes my phone, I can still track it. Can't do that without root.

Awesome battery life? What r u comparison 2? The phone just came out.
Without Root and a custom rom this phone is a SLOW!! ass paper weight! Back to my Galaxy Nexus till we have root for me; )
Yell at me if u want but there's 1000's of us that would take this back to the store if there was no Root; )

Actually most of the AT&T stuff can be disabled. The only thing I really can't disable is AT&T Address Book. Other than that? Every AT&T App (all 5 of them) was able to be disabled.....so I'm not sure what you speak of.

Yea, this is actually the first AT&T Smartphone where I haven't cursed them out for the amount of bloatware installed. Granted I did immediately load Apex Launcher to tide me over until I can install CM9. I hate how touchwiz looks, but that's not AT&T, that's Samsung. This thing honestly speeds along, especially with websites. I'm also apparently in an LTE test area.....with a piss poor signal I was pulling about a 20mbit download and 13 mbit upload. I have to say, it's faster and more responsive than my GSII with CM9. That's impressive considering it is running TW.
Also from looking at his posts he did order it....so he could be using the GNex until he can. Though this pretty much is the GNex....just not running stock Android.

Are you forgetting Titanium Backup oh and some Juice Defender stuff needs root. Root is the only way to go.

New Update on my Sprint S7 3/29

So I got a notification that there is an update as of today 3/29 and I wanted to know if anyone here has received it as well and went ahead and updated. If so does your hotspot still work? I have done the MSL/DUN trick to get hotspot and want to make sure that installing this update won't break my ability to use the DUN trick. I do realize I will probably have to re-add dun to get the hotspot working again after the update.

I always look back to my iOS days, don't take updates unless they shove it down your throat. Yeah, I think this is what breaks the dun trick. I see I have an update available as well. I won't take it unless they force it. My hotspot is working fine using the dun trick.

My gig bucket plan includes free Hotspot, so updating now

Yeah I got the update also. Will wait until others install before I pull the trigger.

For me, the update broke the free hotspot trick that involved modifying the APN settings. They're completely locked down now.

Now my hope is LG G5... If same, I stay on S5 for a while.

So Mike you tried using your MSL to go back in to the APN settings to re-add dun to the string and it's not letting you?

That's correct.

I don't know if its just me but the battery is much better and there's less ram usage. Don't know about the hot spot because I have it on my plan and the APN settings are grayed out

Can't APN info be edited thru a program like CDMAtool? Even if it is disabled in the ##data# with MSL? I haven't needed tethering yet since I've had the S7, but it is nice to have for those times when my ISP decides to break.
Nonetheless, I am withholding performing the OTA even though most of the new stuff sounds good. I tried to capture the OTA's URL thru a logcat but it seems that Samsung/Sprint are too smart for stuff like that, or I'm too dumb or lazy lol. I wanted to get the zip from the server since you can't read /cache without root permissions. If someone can get a .zip of the OTA pulled, that would be great. An unlocked bootloader would be better. I don't really regret keeping the S7 (yet), but probably will get the HTC 10 if it doesn't have crap like the S7.

How long does it take to know if phones are rootable?

Couple days. If bootloader is locked, then we are out of luck more likely.

S7 took a day

It's already been confirmed that the T-Mobile G5 will have bootloader locked, I'm guessing this will apply to all us carrier versions

I can also confirm Hotspot broken. APN Settings greyed out. I hardly used it. But it was nice in an emergency. So if you need your free hotspot, do not update. I'm experiencing better battery life. But others have complained about bad life. I've remove and disabled all the apps I do not use as well as use power saving mode on most apps.

Possibly way to unroot using the Drammer process?

I was reading about drammer and how they have tested multiple phones on unrooting them? could someone possibly get this to work on the S7? i know it wont lead to roms, and i have no clue if this is really helpful but i just wanted to ask. and to also inform them about the this new threat.
I tried posting the web link but im "new" (what i get for not posting as much) you can just google Drammer and it should come out it is also named Rowhammer bitflips

Drammer roots phones, it doesn't unroot phones from what i've read....
I downloaded the apk to test if you are vulnerable and i didn't see any flips, so we may not be vulnerable. It's still too early to tell at this point...

and dylan that stress app is not used for unrooting it was simply a field test where they can see which phones can be compromised. but what i meant was in the same way they did can someone possibly look into developing a way. because if you scroll down they released the templating code. which they also mention they have not released it as a exploit but maybe they will and maybe from that code someone can compile a root maybe?

I'm not sure you know what you're talking about... you keep saying "unroot" that would be to remove root... the exploit roots phones and allows us to gain root not remove it....
And That is exactly what i said.... "I downloaded the apk to test if you are vulnerable and i didn't see any flips, so we may not be vulnerable."

sorry I am meaning root, just getting things mixed up, and yeah but they also stated not all device may be ticked at the same time, it can be when device is on low battery.. stuff like that. or simply we might be vulnerable, but we wont know till someone actually tries it out

Curious... How long did it run with you? I'm running it atm (its been over 45 mins) on aggresive and its still running... ..

I didn't run on aggressive I left it at default and it didn't run for more than 2 minutes...
Is your device still responsive? Is the word flip or flips in any of the output on the screen?

It's not even a sure bet with the Samsung phones two generations ago. So I doubt that it'll work.
