Windows 10 is coming real soon.
Has anyone been testing it?
Is it good for stuff like ADB, ODIN, LG Diagnostics Software and drivers etc..?
Since Microsoft made it s free upgrade I wonder if I should update my Windows 7 laptop which is my go to machine for all things Android hacky.
no problem for drivers etc , use windows 10 from the first preview build and ADB etc seems to work ( drivers from windows 8.1 seems to be compatible )
It works fine.
Visual Studio 2015 has Android emulator work's great
No issues at all. Android Studio works fine, drivers work, emulators work.. So far so good.

Has anyone successfully installed eclipse and ADT on Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium? I installed Eclipse (Galileo SR2 32bit) and attempted to install the ADT and DDMS plugins. Eclipse lists ADT and DDMS as installed software but they do not show up in the plugin list. As a result, I can't create an Android project since it does not show up in the new projects . I am not sure if I am missing something simple or if there is a basic incompatibility with Windows 7. I have successfully set up the ADT on XP but am new to Windows 7 (and I don't much experience with Eclipse). Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.
PS. I have also downloaded JDK and Android SDK and modified my Path envirnoment for each.
I never could get things working in win7 (I have win 7 pro 64bit) so I built a VMWare virtual machine with linux and set it all up there and run the VM under win7.
I'll probably end up something similar. Thanks for the info.

It's been a few months but as I remember I had no issues installing on win7 64x Pro
Sent from my Nexus One
No issues here too
I installed eclipse, the plugin and the sdk just yesterday without any problems.
Although I tried on an older windows 7 system a few months ago, and had issues with Eclipse giving some random errors.
I read version 3.6 had issues, so this time I installed 3.5, all is working fine so far.
Thanks everyone for the commnets. I couldn't get eclipse to recognize the ADT properly so I assumed it was a Windows 7 compatibility issue. After hearing of your success, I ended up reinstalling eclipse, ADT SDK and JDK. That seamed to do the trick so I am up and running in Windows 7. I aslo installed VMWare/Ubuntu/Eclipse so I now can develop in Windows or Linux.
Have you tried to run the executables in Windows XP compatibilty mode?
Right click on the exe, go to properties, compatibility tab and check the box and select windows XP service pack 3.
Most of the programs which are compatible with XP and not with Win 7 can be ru this way...
I have recently formatted my laptop and re-installed everything from scratch. I now am unable to install xap files to my phone. every error i get seems to be something related to the connection or not detecting the phone. I have tried Toms xap installer and winco wxap assistant and neither work. I have zune 4.8 installed, as well as the windows phone 7 sdk and the windows phone 7 developer tools. I have the HTC HD2 running xboxmod/yuki mango rom, which has been updated to wp7.1. zune detects the phone and i am able to sync through zune, so i know that the device is installed and working correctly. I am thinking there may be an error in my install of either the wp7 sdk or the wp7 dev tools, but i am not sure how to check this.
The laptop has been updated from 2gb ram to 4gb, so i now have windows 7 professional 64 bit (i did have windows 7 pro 32bit before). hopefully one of the good people on xda will know how to fix this problem!
Hey there,
I found a solution for the MTP-Driver issue under Windows 7 N Edition.
A few days ago I bought a new SSD Drive for my Desktop.
So i decided to install a fully new Windows on it, cause my windows 7 x64 was about 4 years in use now and doesnt worked reliable.
I decided to give Windows 7 N Version a try, cause it comes without some futures i thought i would not need.
ATM I use this KF First Aide with my KFHD 7
Installation of the ADB Driver worked without a problem, but i still got the yellow triangle on MTP Driver.
Tried then to install the driver manually using windows update. it didnt find a driver for MTP.
Tried to install the MTP device manualy selecting MTP Device in the "all devices" list (Standard MTP Device).
But this didnt work either.
After hours of searching i found a thread that led me to this :
As promised by Microsoft the N Version comes WITHOUT the Windows Media Player.
But as it seams the Windows Media Player contains the MTP Driver.
For god sake microsoft provides a pack to install it manually Media Feature Pack für Windows 7 N
This works of course only with original Windows as u have to pass a Genuine Verification to download it.
After installing the pack. The windows update found 2 other updates. i got them too and restarted my system. Now the triangle is gone. And my KFHD is recognised as Portable Device and everything works fine.
Dunno weather it will work with other Windows 7 Versions.

This is just ridiculous..
I have Windows 8.1 N Pro installed and can't use either, because it is missing the MTP driver. The fact that i have to install the Media Feature Pack to use a fundamental feature of my PC is just F***** UP! It is just Microsoft's way of giving the finger to the EU, and it makes the N-version completely useless.
But i refuse to install Windows Media Player and all that other crap just to use my Nexus 5 with my new laptop. If i have to write to the EU to try and make them force Microsoft to make the driver available as a standalone install, i will. This is just principally wrong of Microsoft, but really not surprising.
If people would just boycot Microsoft they might learn. But that will never happen, unfortunately..
When i bought my laptop it did have Windows 7 on it. But i did have a option to bye Windows 8 cheap with a promotioncode. Sow i buyed Windows 8. But only this year i found out its a upgrade disk... Bummer. Well never likked Windows 8 much after trying testversion and seeing the final product. It made me think of Viste. (Not finnist) Never mind... I did not like the sow called Metro menu at that time. I dont like the way the settings work. Its not like i used to.
But i wanted to do somthing with this useless Windows 8 update disk. Windows 8.1 is a free update to Windows 8 users/byers. Sow i looked into some options to get Windows 8.1 with updates.. But no option i really liked. (Dont like putting in a ligit code after install. Ore running updates) What i did not want is install the Windows 8 upgrade on my Windows 7 laptop. Windows 7 works just fine. I could have made some image *.wim from the finall install.
Sow let me finally tell now what to do with the upgrade disk image. Dont use it. Its that simple! Get a Windows 8.1 with update from here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media The image will take a Windows 8 key. Thats what i wanted!!! Normally you would have to install Windows 8.1 with some default key form MS and put in the bought key after install (When using the key from the Windows 8 upgrade disk). That suck.
Well happy installing Windows 8.1 with update1 using you're Windows 8 key. That's my point haha.
Well thats not all for me. I wanted to install Windows 8.1 for a usb stick and with out to many clicks. Sow i did look into some programs like Nlite (XP) Vlite and sow on. Than i found https://www.ntlite.com/ from the same maker of Nlite and Vlite! The program Ntlite works great. Not like Nlite but still great. The build image can be tested with a program like wm player.
Sow in the and i put my Windows 8.1 on my minipc. (Conected to the tv) Windows 8.1 is just great for playing some music and movies. (I hope i can reinstall sometime with some Windows 8 driverpack by the way)
Original i found the information here: http://www.howtogeek.com/187525/how-to-perform-a-clean-install-of-windows-8.1-with-a-windows-8-key/

no driver worked......i try clean install of windows 7 and use my driver cd but,,there is no sound
So you formatted again and did another install of Windows 7, and it still doesn't show up? Is it onboard audio? Check the BIOS to ensure it's enabled.
Google brings up a lot of results, have you tried looking at them? What does Device Manager show?
If it still doesn't work, the sound card/motherboard if onboard might be dead.
I can't count on two hands how many people, including myself had this upgrade problem. Always audio or video.
Firstly, I'd check to see on the notebook/pc manufacturer website if they have Windows 10 drivers for your model. That's the best place to start.
Some older drivers are getting automatically updated through Windows Update. It seems Microsoft has encouraged some key driver updates. E.g. Intel integrated graphics.
Lastly, uninstall the driver, reboot your computer, now, install the driver again under compatibility mode for the version of Windows you have.
For audio, compatibility mode worked. Get this. My notebook came with Windows 7. The Windows 7 driver works (after about 20 attempts) but the Windows 8 driver doesn't. My understanding is that Windows 8 drivers are a bit more compatible with 10 than 7. But the 7 driver actually worked better.
Let us know how you get on.
