Now that root is available, is it possible to increase the brightness level with auto brightness enabled? Thanks
P. S. I don't want to use lux or any other overlaying apps!

Oh ok thanks ?
You can't make the brightness higher than what the hardware allows....
You can use LUX from the Play store, it overrides the auto brightness of the device.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vito.lux&hl=en
There is also free lite version.

He probably doesn't intend to go above 100% but what he wants is to get more brightness in lower lightning conditions. You can manually calibrate those settings on CM based ROMs and some others.

@op - you're talking about what the g2 use to be able to do right? You could have auto selected but still move the slider? Wish we could do that.

I've always remember the G2 being able to slide the slider but it never really affected the auto brightness.

Some models can. With the Verizon G4, there is Auto, but you can still move the slider, to bias Auto to be brighter or dimmer. Auto stays enabled when you do this.

Wonder where the option is if it's in the build prop?

I remember recently that there was an alternative to LightFlow being featured somewhere (forget if it was XDA or Reddit or somewhere else).
Does anyone remember it? I believe it was a bit more lightweight than LF.
EDIT: Decided to make this the general Nexus 5 LightFlow thread since that's what it pretty much became.

I could find and try this one only.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
But eventually I moved back to light flow because it works better for me in KitKat.
I prefer light flow. I like being able to set it to dismiss the light as soon as I turn my screen on. Quickest way to get the light to stop blinking.

I know that 4.3 brought in persistent notifications like with apps like LF. Still no work around with hiding it?

Thanks for the update! Still not seeing notification light for Hangouts - specifically for SMS. Anyone else experience this?

Uncheck the foreground option in settings. I always uncheck that and I've never seen any difference, except the persistent notification goes away.

How about getting the led to be always on?
I've always liked it better than pulsing, and set it up like that in the Galaxy Nexus, but can't get it to work on the N5 yet.
is it worth having root mode on as well ?

I see the very first app i ever purchased on the android market for my old N1 is still getting updates (sept 2013).... TrackBall Alert Pro... also Trackball Alert..
updates say it will work with any trackball (hah i miss that thing) and RGB LED.. from what i remember it was a pretty minimal app that let you choose colours/flash rate/etc...

There's an option in each notification under the "light" tab for "LED flash rate" for "always on / very slow pulse". I have it that way for when my phone is charging.

It works on mine for charging indication. What kind of app are you trying to get it to work on?
Edit: I tested in on gmail, and you are correct sir. It doesn't work.
This is where I used to go first after every daily flash, to look for new tasker or device options. High screen sensitivity was back for a few days. Now the settings app disappeared. Or did I break it?

I'm not sure if this is what you have in mind, but this app lets you adjust the watch's brightness using either your phone or the app on the watch.

Cool man. The developer has an XDA thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-wear/development/app-swapp-true-dark-wear-t2977161
He would probably appreciate any feedback.
I have auto-brightness and battery saving disabled, but for some reason Always On Display just gets really dark either immediately after locking the device, or after few seconds. This hasn't been the case for over a month I've owned the phone, so wondering if this is a new version of AOD issue (1.1.22)?
Anyone has a fix or more information on the subject?
Can you uninstall the update and see if it goes back to the way it was. Samsung may be trying to reduce battery use by AOD.

Is there a way to roll back the Always On Display to an earlier version? How can I do that?
Yes, it's the latest version of AOD that does this. Now that the reviews of the S7/Edge are all done, Samsung can finally update their phones to their intended versions

If you go into the Application manager, and find AOD, you should be able to uninstall it, which will revert to the original version.

OMG, I had the same thought. Bait customers with glowing reviews then **** up the software & battery life with subsequent "updates." Is Samsung getting paid by Apple to gimp their phones? Samsung really sucks at software.

How do you stop this auto updating? There is no option under auto update Samsung Galaxy apps to disable it. Only under auto update apps is there an option to turn it off.

I think the first one only applies if the second one is set to on.

One updates the Galaxy Apps app itself, the second - all other apps downloaded through the Galaxy Apps. So turning off the second one is enough to disable the auto update for AoD.
@optimummind I'm really happy with the new update. The previous versions where way to light to actually use for me. This was also a complaint of a lot of people. So instead of what you say they actually listen..

Rbedell! Okayyy figured it out!! You have to update "always on display" the new version gives a few more options. Pick the very last one (attached a screenshot) and it will let you add whatever image you want.

Yeah I agree.. But.. With it being displayed on the AOD it's probably dialed down a bit so it doesn't cause battery drain..
