And you get nothing when you press the options key? Have you tried installing a different sms app from playstore? If not give that a shot and see if you can get into the new app settings.

So I tried another Text app from playstore and it shows the settings.
But why the default app doesn't show the settings?

I have no idea and I don't recall having that problem. Did you install this version on your phone from a backup? Maybe a system reset would resolve it but then you will have to reinstall everything.

How do you set the LED light for SMS?

I have reverted back to the old messaging app that came standard on the G1 but I can't get it to show a green LED light when I have a text message like it use to. I go to settings and I don't see an option for it. As a matter of fact the options seem rather limited, and I thought there were way more before I went to Handcent SMS. But since that has given me problems I went back to the old messaging app but there is no options at all really . Any help?
You posted in wrong section but open the message app and click menu and notification settings and there you go!
Ah sorry about that. But when I click menu all I see is Notifications, Select Ringtone, and Vibrate. I am running Dwang's ROM if that makes a difference. I can't click Notifications to bring up a new menu, it's just a check box.

Hmm think it had to do with my ROM. I went to the Cyanogen ROM and now the option is there. Thanks.

[Q] Messaging > New Message

I truly love my S4 but this is driving me insane.
When receiving a message instead of telling me who it's from and an idea of what the message is... I get this:
Edit: Apparently I can't post an image of the issue until after 10 posts. In any case, my notification, both on the lock screen and on the notification bar, say Messaging, and underneath says New Message. Normally, or at least with my S3, it would show who the text message is from, and then a small preview of what the message says.
Has anyone else had this issue or know of a fix? I am trying to stay away from rooting my phone, for now. I am using Nova Launcher Prime but I don't see why this would effect anything. A reboot has done nothing so far.
In message app enter menu and after, settings thhan tick the last option before signature, in italian "anteprima messaggio"

Thanks. For some reason I didn't think to go into the settings of the actual messaging screen. I was able to put a check mark beside "Preview Message" and that has solved my issue. Thanks Again!
Why isn't it on ny default?

I guess Samsung left it off to keep the privacy of unexperienced users on Android that have no idea how to change settings by themselves.

I'm almost definitely sure mine was on by default as I turned it off. It showed the message on the lock screen too.

Android wear app missing settings Icon

I'm running the latest version of Android Wear with my Moto 360 but the app has no settings icon at the top right anymore. I tap where the icon used to be and it sends me to Moto Connect app. Anyone else have this issue or know what the problem is?
Stop the app, clear data, uninstall reboot and reinstall.
Just tried that and now I'm left with this and the Moto 360 won't connect via Bluetooth.

Is it possible that the system font is bugging it? I don't have any other ideas, that's the only thing that pops in my head. Sorry if it's not the solution ><
I do believe it was the font. Unfortunately I no longer have a wear device.

Hi, have you checked the settings to make sure it's not silent? Check my screen shot. You'd have to tap where it says silent.

Is there a "Do Not Disturb" setting in Sounds and Notifications? I don't have mine yet, so I can't check for myself. but that has tripped my up a few times on my HTC 10.
If Do Not Disturb is not on, look for a setting called "Smart settings".... it is under General > Smart Functions [Label] > Smart Settings.... if you set the home screen settings to enable the Smart Bulletin Screen you can also get to it from there
Appreciate the replies folks..I just downloaded Textra, but the stock messaging App is still silenced
Same problem

I figured it would be a matter of time before someone else chimed in with the same problem..I still haven't found a solution other than a new app for messaging..
Went to t mobile today. They did a warranty swap for.me. LG told.me.to.send it to them for as service after factory reset did not work.

Maybe I'll do the same cause I'd rather not use textra
This is a feature of android 7.0. When you receive the message, swipe down from the top to show your notifications, press and hold the messaging notification and then you should get an option to select that states Don't silence. It's probably set to Show Notifications silently.
Thank you sir!!

how to remove peeking notification?

how to remove headsup or peeking notifications ? on the LG G6 THANKS.
I don't have any peeking notifications unless you're talking about the phone call popup that shows when you're using the phone
When I get a text or any message the notification comes down on the screen I just want to remove that feature of it showing up on the screen while I'm doing something

Okay no what about other apps? I use Hangouts fpr my texting and it doesn't have this option. Any ideas?
The same question for me. I have peeking with whatsapp also, even if whatsapp has this option and by default has always been disabled. I don't like peek notifications I would like to understand how to remove them by phone options, not by app.

I managed to find that option. It's available in Facebook, or Facebook Messenger or in Facebook Messenger "Lite" too, but it's not available in Whatsapp that is my main interest
Can you check whatsapp?

This was driving me nuts too, for Google Hangouts. Tried "Do No Disturb". Didn't work. Very frustrating when using the phone full screen in landscape mode.
