N910C with Baseband of UAE in PAK - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I ordered N910C from Dubai which has the Baseband version N910CXXU1BOC5 which is for UAE . Now after some searching I have found a version for my country, Pakistan which is N910CXXU1BOE1.
My question is, should I flash my local version of firmware? Will that really improve anything, i.e. the battery timing, and communication etc? Or should I continue using the phone like this? I am getting average SOT i.e. 4 hrs but the signal reception is bad indoors.
Thanks!

@Xeeshu
Yes you can Flash....IF you are Not Rooted Yet Than Flash This Note 4 N910C Lollipop 5.0.1 N910CXXU1BOG1/N910CXXU1BOE3 .
Your Knox will remain 0x0 ...It'll not Harm your Device..
Regard Battery SOT it depends on Your Usage....& For Reception Mostly Different Baseband Not impact on Reception just Some Baseband Give Bad Receptions Because MODEm & Bootloader Drivers are Included in Each Baseband in Case of Samsung...So that's why Modem can impact on reception...
Check if your Signal's Reception is Good outdoors than its okay ...otherwise try Some Different Baseband...
Did you Try Signal Reception for Other Mobiles Than Note 4 ,How they Perform in Your Area?
It Maybe the Issue with Your Carrier ,Telenor Has Bad Reception in Mostly Area of Pak...So you should Check it...
I've SM-N910F came from Germany-UK...I'm not on original Baseband ...I Flashed many Others I've not seen any Strange/Bad behavior about Signals/Reception...
But when I used Deodexed version that was Not Stable Although Signal Reception is All the Time remain good...

Thanks for you reply but I am asking this because a friend of mine was getting less SOT i.e. the battery would drain quickly. He asked about my baseband version and when flashed he said it's very improved. He lives in UAE.

[Q] Galaxy Note 3 modem version - improves signal strength?

Hi,
I have had the note 3 since release here in the UK. I have a unlocked version from car phone warehouse on the three network. However I have poor signal at my desk at work if I hold my phone in the right spot I have H+, but the right 'spot' moves around unfortunately. According to their coverage map I should have LTE signal indoors and out. I do have 4g signal if I leave the building. (I am in the center of London)
So as it appears my signal is close but not quite good enough, I was wondering if there is a good modem firmware out there that people have found helps? I am running the latest software updates (the last 1 I installed was the KitKat upgrade).
Thanks in advance
I am on Giffgaff, they use O2. Currently using the NC2 Modem with no issues and great data speed.

Short off topic, but i dont want to create a new thread: You can only upgrade modem in odin of you have "official status", is that correct? How about a TWRP backup of the modem partition? If s.o passes me TWRP backup of the modem partition, can i upgrade/downgrade modems?

Thanks for the info
my current baseband version is N9005XXUENB1
so the NC2 is slightly newer isn't it? am I right in my understanding that the version number is the last 3 characters of the baseband version?
Is there a good resource where I can get the latest modem version from?

My status is not official. I powered off the phone, waited a few seconds and did the button combo for download mode, and it flashed fine
I have a backup of my current rom/modem in TWRP, i havent had to restore it yet so i couldnt tell you.

Yes it is slightly newer by about a month. If you go over to the alexndr Rom thread in the android development section, in the first post he has just the odin package, its about 50mb.

Katkat modems don't seem to be any different btw, seems they've just rebundled and named the original one - Carrier modem *may* (I say may because I seen no difference) be tweaked slightly different but ultimately it's just a placeholder for APN settings really.
Indoors, always tricky.
It could be related to the frequency band your provider is using. The 800Mhz band penetrates solid concrete with ease, but the higher bands can't.
Any metal in the walls? Killer for any digital signal.
Does anyone else experience the same issues with other phones on the same provider in the same spot?
3G is always weaker than 2G, and 4G is even less powerful than 3G. (Because of the higher required frequency). Have you tried enforcing GSM mode? It'll kill your data speed, but at least you're more likely to get a signal.
Thanks for the help guys.
Yes other people have signal issues too, so I am just looking to get every ounce of signal strength I can.
I had a chat with my network last week and apparently before the end of the month they are rolling out a new spectrum but the support guy didn't know which frequency it was. he was confident it would fix my signal issues. (how true this is or not guess I will see!)
I have tried restricting to gsm and it is still unstable unfortunately
According to the coverage map, 4g signal in my post code is very strong, DC-HSPA i'm on the edge of a strong section. but right on the edge so I can understand dodgy signal. Ive just got my fingers crossed over the next few weeks
Silly suggestion, but... Have you tried opening a window? it could add just enough strength for the signal to stabilize.

Flashing baseband

I have a SM-N910H, I got it due to fact I didn't want my phone locked down. I currently use AT&T but there is no LTE does anyone know if hardware will support flashing a different baseband?
Got same problem mate , i got SM-910K from korea and i live in uk , phone work fine but i got battery drain , i can go with 3 hours of screen on time, with is very bad,i think we got different baseband radios we got phones from another country and they keep searching for that radios ,

Note 4 SM-910C horrible LTE

So I picked up a Note 4 model SM-N910C which is the exynos octacore WITH LTE. I am using it with Tmobile USA in Chicago. I get horrible horrible LTE signal. At my apartment I get .53 dl and 3-4 Upld.
When I first got it I went to about phone and it had arab emirates firmware lollipop. Ive tried at least 2 others and still get crap signal. i had a similar issue with a phone before and I fixed the issue by getting into a secret menu and messing with the lte and prl settings. This phone will not let me do that though. Do I need to flash a different radio? What can I do? I am doing the KIES recovery/reset as I type.
I'm facing the same problem here. I have a SM-N910C from mexico but the original carrier, Telcel, didn't provide android 5.1.1 so I flashed a rom from another country. The problem is that now my signal is really bad, when I'm lucky I get two bars but most of the time is just one or none. I can still receive and make calls outdoors but I loose service as well as data almost inside any building. I was wondering if I can solve that with some configuration or reflashing the radio but I'm not sure.
Could please anyone provide some help and guidance?
Thanks!!

Poor reception is it just me? Cricket and at&t

I got the us version x727. Currently running lineage was on .21 I believe when I unlocked and flashed. ( flashing didn't make reception better or worse)
I seem to drop calls way more frequently compared to nexus 6 , nexus 5 and samsung note 3 all on at&t / cricket.
changing preferred network settings seem to not effect my dropping. I am using the stock case and screen protector.
Its very frustrating as I am a truck driver and rely on this device to be used as an actual phone.
I would have returned this but I bought on amazon and changed there cell phone policy to only exchange.
Thanks for everyone's help
I also have poor reception with AT&T in Mexico, currently running Android 7 AICP rom but I remember stock rom was better in the reception
