Good morning , yesterday I was doing a bit of cleaning dust and removed the cover, I noticed over the battery to the left a small window ( as a fast access ) I opened it and there was a connector . Curiosity has , as usual, got the better and to see what it was ... I unplugged the connector. It was obviously the LCD. Ok I promptly hung it up but the screen remains black ( everything works , the phone turns on, there is the jingle , unlock the touch screen , etc. ) .
Obviously all this with battery inserted and phone on (The Genius ) .
My question is : Is it possible that I have burned the ' LCD ? Should be enough to buy another LCD and touch ( since I'm stuck and it seems difficult to replace old touch panel) ?

Just a quick word of warning to anyone remotely thinking of dismantling their trinity.
BE VERY , VERY CAREFUL.
For a couple of weeks there I was getting a weird rattle from the topside of my spv m700 ( up near speaker housing ) and as it wasn't affecting the phone I disregarded it . ( fool ! ) Anyhoo , after doing some quick research I found out that it could be the small screw next to the vibrator unit that had come loose - so I took the plunge and opened the case up , using plastic tweezers ( ouch ) and the correct torx driver , sure enough the culprit was the small screw - lying down next to sim card housing now , which had come from near to the vibrator unit , so I stuck it back in , tightened it up ( not too tight- i thought ) and reassembled.
Nothing , phone buttons all lit up at bottom , nothing on display , all sounds seemed to be ok.
A week later on and , now after a disastrous re-assemble my power button has fell off the mainboard , and still no display.
Be very very careful , even though the phone seems to be fine except for no display , I now have no power switch due to the fiddling around trying various methods to narrow down the fault.
I probably tightened the screw up too much.
E-bay beckons........
Good luck.
I am so glad that you have POSTed your problem because in the last few days mine has started this rattle in the exact same way (definutly sounds like a small screw come completly loose).
I was thinking of cracking the lil'sucker open and sorting it out but now I think I can live with it untill my upgrade.
Has this problem happened to alot of people or just a select few?
Thank you
It's a common fault in trinitys as far as I know.
The fix is very ,very , easy , just be careful which way you 'split' the casing, as this is where I feel I may have maybe 'pinched' the display flex ribbon....best to use something plastic and blunt
If you feel you can live with it then thats fine , it seems likely that it doesn't really have much room to go anywhere , although as I said , mines ended up down near the sim card housing.
All the best.
OK guys , Newly registered , but been looking over this place for the last few weeks. Im undoubtebly in a pickle at the minute , and hopefully somebody will be able to shed some light on probably the ONLY problem ive had with my Leo.
Well lets get straight to the point. As usual when i arrived home last night , I put my phone onto charge onto a USB port of my PC , The PC was off , but that doesnt seem to bother the HTC Leo as it charges anyway. Went to bed and got up this morning and grabbed it off charge. As i unlocked the screen i noticed the Blueish blobs on the theme looked VERY dark and kind of raised from the rest of the theme. Putting this down to being still tired , I went into my menu and opened new message.
Now at the very top of the now white screen is an Orangey * Tea stain looking * Quarter inch thick line across the top. Everything is still viewable it just looks like a tea stain. Panic sets in , So i procede with a Hard Reset.
Now the hard reset has done NOTHING , In fact im guessing its made the problem worse. Basically :
1: Home screen including HTC Sense Loadup , seems to have Blue Blocks from one side to the other , And about an inch thick , These flicker slighty. But everything is still viewable behind it.
2. Anything white screened , shows a small * tea stain looking * Block across the screen at around half the size of the blue blocks from the rest of the phone.
3. Using the back button is incredibly slow. for example Pressing 'Start' is its usual speedy self , But pressing <-- back seems like its taking a few seconds to respond. Using the X in the top corner is a rapid as it used to be.
What im wondering , IS this a problem with the LCD? has my charger ruined a wire? Or the charging jack? Cause when i pump the charger back in usually the screen problems stop for upto an hour , then randomly come back :S
If anyone knows how to take a screenshot on the phone would be much obliged , if not ill have to wait until the missus gets back from work to try and take a decent enough picture.

hello everyone , i have a mytouch 4G that had the good chip and good display , so that has nothing to do with the problem . my actual problem is that i attempted to do a digitizer repair on my own , and it went successfully , i put the phone back together and i turn it on , the phone vibrated and made boot sound but the screen did not light up, it remained black , i opened the phone like litterily more than 6 times to try disconnecting and connecting the lcd connector and nothing.
to this day it still doesnt light up at all, and now after trying at it one more time the phone doesnt even boot anymore , i cannot turn it on by power button , and when i connect the charger the light is orange , phone vibrates once , then turns green . this is the most i can get out of my phone .
when i was repairing my phone i used a hair dryer to soften up te adhesive , which is the correct way to do it right ? i put the hair dryer directly to the lcd if that probally done anything . and there is a chance i probally scraped a ribbon thats above the lcd on the front when i tried to pry it out
should i just give up on my phone ? or should i try to get professional help and get ready to chuck up 100 bucks for a repair , i am asking if there is nothing i can do.
p.s. i would realllllly like to avoid buying a lcd , cus it would suck if i spend 20-something bucks on a lcd and just to have find out its something else (since the phone currently wont even boot)
the phone probably won't boot b/c you may have ripped out the flex cable for the power button. i made this mistake myself a couple month ago and it cost me like $20 to get a new one. as for the lcd, i'm not sure. you may have to get a new one
Im a nexus 4 user. Used it since 3-4 months hardly. Not an Excessive mobile user.
My Phone rang Alarm as usually in the morning. And Suddenly few lines(Vertical Lines) imerged on the phone !!
Verify the Images !! .. Then immediately i checked battery Temp.. (it was 35 C). Booted to recovery and done a through wipe.
Which did not solve the issue... then i Flashed Stock image. Even then the issue was not resolved.
I then concluded myself that it is a " Hardware Issue " !!
I'm a resident of India and bought the phone from USA... So no warranty to Claim !!
Any Solution to this Problem is highly appreciated .!!
(Except screen Replacement, Anymore investment on this device is useless)
hmm , this is a serious problem .. however u may try this ..
1- sometime ago my phone with a lcd screen had many dead pixels , so i wrapped my phone with a plastic sheet , polythene .and keep it into deep freezer for 1 full night ( take care its tightly packed , as no water should enter phone). the next morning the screen was just like new , this method surely works for LCD screens .. but cant say bout IPS screen , but since ips screens are also a kind of lcd's so it may work ....
and if you try the above solution and run into some other problem , i am no way responsible for it..
......................................................AND BEFORE KEEPING IT INTO FREEZER U HAVE TO MANUALLY REMOVE THE BATTERY. DONT KEEP IT IN FREEZER WITH BATTERY STILL INSIDE.................
2-u may try to squeeze the screen from edges tightly and see if there is any pattern change of the lines coming , if yes the above method will most probably work .. if no its less probable..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659250&page=7 heres d proof that it works ...
Are these lines also visible once you boot into recovery or into the bootloader? Or do they appear only on fully loaded OS?
do they affect the digitizer?, I had this problem once, 5mins later it went away, it was a screen burn in when it crashed on twrp
Hello !
The bottom of my screen is completly black but the touchscreen is still working.
I went running with my phone in my hand and the weather was vert cold. At first the bottom half of my screen was flickering/grey and then it went completly black
What I already try to solve the issue :
- install TWRP and wipe everything
- disconnect the battery from the phone
Any thoughts ? How could I know if it comes from the motherboard or the screen?
Water droplets must of have got into the motherboard. Unfortunately you can't fix a hardware issue through twrp. I would recommend replacing the motherboard. Good luck
