[Q] "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." with with external keyboard/touchpad.
The error itself can be seen attached below (I apologize for the cellphone potato quality pic, but I really don't think I can take a picture any other way). I've tried this with two different keyboard/touchpad devices. One is a Logitech K400r, and the other is one a "FosmonĀ® Portable Lightweight Mini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard Controller" (search for it on Amazon. Can't link. Thanks a lot, not-enough-post-spam-filter.) The former uses a dongle, and the other one is Bluetooth.
As soon as they connect that error kicks in, and when I hit "OK" it pops up again. I'm using the latest CyanogenMod nightly build. The search function only returned questions about phones, and none of those seemed to be related to input devices of any kind. Does anyone have any ideas...?
i think its the keyboard that you using.
im not l100% sure.
i have the same issue and i use Rii keyboard.
what kind you use?

I have a nook color hacked running Cyanogen Mod 7.1.0-encore, Android version 2.3.7, kernel version 2.6.32.9.
I bought the Logitech tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0+ about a month ago. I got it to work fine then.
Took it out this morning and it connects fine - I see the "connected to hid device" on the bluetooth settings screen and the bluetooth light on the keyboard is on like it should be. Then after about 10 seconds, the bluetooth light on the keyboard goes out and it won't work. I tried changing the batteries in the keyboard, doesn't affect it. (tested old batteries with a tester, they were fine)
Any ideas? Please keep your answer simple, I'm new to the mobile device world!

The bluetooth light should be off after connection during normal operation. Try turning the keyboard off and then on and press the connect button.
I find that pressing the menu button is the easist way to quickly see if the keyboard is connected.
I have a HID Bluetooth Keyboard (IRXON, just an humble one). It works fine on my computer and I'd like to use it with my Defy too. However everytime I try to pair and connect it, something goes wrong.
I just see a message of "Paired, Not Connected". And I can't use the keyboard.
Some people said to me that is the lack of a HID protocol in the Defy and its system that causes this error. So, doubts:
1) I am using WakjIUI 2.2.17 GB (stable, not beta). As WakjIUI have several drivers, modules and protocols from CM7, it really doesn't have HID protocol? Or it have and I am just doing something wrong?
2) If the WakjIUI really doesn't have the HID yet, does the solution I found into a HTC Desire forum here at XDA-Developers can solve my problem?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22771644#post22771644
Or only a solution adapted for Defy would work? (and a solution for WakjIUI, not plain MIUI?)
Sorry if is a silly question, but I really would like to know if is possible to use my little HID bluetooth in my Defy...
Hi,
I am trying to get a bluetooth mouse working on my Defy (running CM7 on a recent nightly), but have only had limited success.
I have a Hama Bluetooth m2140 mouse. It works fine on my laptop and I have had this mouse running well on a couple of Android Tablets.
Am able to pair and connect the mouse with my defy. The first time I try, I even see a small mouse pointer appear on the screen, but it freezes after only a second or so. Very frustrating- so close and yet so far...
Has anyone had any success here? Is this a known bug or are others not using a mouse with their Defy?
I would be grateful if someone could give me some tips on enabling debugging or on what logs I could check for errors.
I would really like to get this working as this would allow me to remotely service my systems when traveling, without needing to take a laptop with me.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Best Regards, Richard
Hi folks,
ok, I have finally worked out how to pull logs with logcat. (For those of you who are not familiar with accessing logs, check out the "Log Viewer (logcat)" app in the Market.)
I have attached an excerpt of the logs, filtered on "CachedBluetoothDevice", "BluetoothService" and "BluetoothHidService" entries.
I hope this helps in spotting the problem.
The last line looks pretty interesting:
2012-03-02 11:14:04.976 E 2261/BluetoothHidService.cpp: onConnectHidDeviceResult: D-Bus error: org.bluez.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed (Function not implemented (38))
One thing I have noticed is that the mouse sometimes gets a Mouse Icon during bluetooth discovery, but, after pairing, the icon is always of a keyboard. I don't know if this plays any role...
Anyway, I hope that someone out there can help...
Best Regards, Richard
PS Just spotted 2 other posts that describe the problem as well...

So I bought a EC tech Bluetooth on Amazon (I'd post a link but I can't) to use with my K1. I'm running krook's CM10 v6.1. The keyboard pairs and says it is connected, but it never shows up as an input device. I can work around the issue by using BlueKeyboard JP to connect. However, this seems clunky as a solution and doesn't work for Ctrl or Tab.
From hunting around, others have this issue with other BT keyboards, but I haven't found any solutions. It works fine with my Galaxy Nexus that is running stock 4.2.2.
Anyone have helpful thoughts? I tried copying the keyboard layouts from my phone, but that didn't help.
Hey everyone! I bought an Onn. Streaming Box at Walmart a couple of days ago, intending to run Torque Pro on my car's preexisting Backup Screen w/ a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle (a tiny $25 self-contained Android box seemed to make a lot of sense for that application). I sideloaded the Torque apk onto the box and used a remote app w/ mouse cursor to set up the layout, but when I went to finally pair the OBD2 dongle, it wouldn't pick it up. Since the screen just says "Accessories", I'm guessing you can only pair things like headphones, controllers, keyboards, etc.
I also tried sideloading "Bluetooth Direct", and forcibly connecting to my phone's Bluetooth address (just to test), and it couldn't connect (it seems like that app doesn't work for a lot of people though).
Is there any way around this?
I'm waiting for a powered OTG cable to be delivered today, so I can root and hopefully figure something out that way. It seems weird if it's really a limitation built into the OS, since regular android is buried underneath there somewhere, and it isn't like the box has some special Bluetooth hardware that limits it to certain devices.
If all else fails, maybe I could just get an OBD2 to USB cord and plug into an OTG, but idk if that would work either (it should on other Android devices).
And for anyone wondering, yes, the Android TV UI optimized for giant 4k TV's does not work well on a 5" 480p HDMI -> RCA screen, LOL.
Figured this out if anybody wants to do something similar, I just sideloaded the app "Bluetooth Scanner - Bluetooth finder - pairing" (com.pzolee.bluetoothscanner), and was able to pair it right away. I am running LineageOS and rooted with Magisk, but I'd think this should work on stock too.
