[Q] no network on i9500 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys..
my brother owns a galaxy s4 i9500 and he updated to 5.0.1 a month ago and he didnt like it as it had too many bugs and made the phone lag so he decided to downgrade .. when he down graded he lost his imei and baseband .. and had no network .. so he asked for my help i tried flashing a few kitkat modems but it was of no use then i rooted and flashed a custom rom then again i flashed a few modems but now it shows some other imei but when sim is inserted it shows that cant register to network .. so any help provided will be great ...
thanks in advance !

Same issue here, can anyone help us?

Flash the modem from a Lollipop ROM to get the signal back.
Attached the latest one from SER (Russia) Extract and then flash through Odin. Use CP or MODEM box depending on Odin version.

[Q] [I9500] Have generic IMEI and not able to connect to network

Hi,
I had installed the CyanogenMod 10.2 available in the original android development section on my I9500. I flashed it in the morning. everything was working fine except camera till afternoon. Suddenly on afternoon i observe that my phone has entered into emergency signals mode and was not connected to my mobile network. First i thought it was signal problem but upon reading found out that it is IMEI getting changed problem. I have installed Stock ROM again to try if it solves the problem but sadly it doesnt .
Anyone out there faced the same issue and can help me?
Thanks

I have an Indian model I9500 . I tried flashing Omega Rom before trying CM. For Omega ROM i flashed XXUBMG9. After that i flashed back the Stock firmware I9500XXUAMDE_I9500ODDAMDC_INU. Then i flashed CM. CM worked fine for half a day. Then it failed connecting to my network.
With the method you are telling i flashed my stock firmware modem first, but it didnt work. Now i flashed XXUBMG9 and it worked.
Can't i go back to my stock firmware modem now? Am I stuck with this modem ?

you still on the first old firmware for India (MDE).
you can take ota update and then the modem will be replaced. or flash latest Indian firmware (MG5) and you will be on full stock.
PS. i guess that modem does not affect warranty.

MEA firmware came with DDUBMEA modem. try to flash this modem alone as "phone" twice http://d-h.st/c9i
any way these are all INS firmwares http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9500&pcode=INS#firmware
I tried flashing MEA modem twice all other Indian Modems twice and nothing worked. It is only working on XXUBMG9 modem. I am really stuck on this modem.
Does anyone has a theory of why this is happening? Omega ROMv14 wanted flashing this modem as a prerequisite. I had flashed this modem before flashing Omega. Then i went back to my stock and flashed CM over my stock ROM. CM wasworking fine till sometime , then it started to drop the signals and later i realized i lost my imei. If i flash back the MG9 modem the i get the proper my phones imei and network connects. But for all other modem of india it just shows the generic imei and doesnt connect to network.
Can anyone help me postmortem this case and tell what went wrong where?
all failed

wat if I flash stock ware and again flash it with stock ware, while doing that I shall interrupt the flashing and take it to service center then is there any possibility of them recovering my imei in stock ware

Baseband Unknown and no IMEI number

Hi All
I have the following error on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Exynos (N900).
My phone was rooted and Ive been running a custom ROM. Now I want to go back to stock but when I load any stock rom I get the Baseband Unknown and no IMEI number problem.
I have tried
* 4 different stock roms - same issue
* flashed separate modem driver - same issue
* restored EFS folder/partition - same issue
The only way I can get it to work again is by loading the custom ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2503206).
Seeing as the custom ROM works and everyone says the problem is with the EFS folder. I backed up the EFS folder with Custom Rom loaded and restored the EFS folder with stock ROM loaded. Still the same issue - Baseband Unknown and no IMEI number.
I know there are a lot of posts regarding this issue and all seem to point to the EFS folder. Mine however doesnt seem to be a EFS folder issue.
Any other ideas?
Just FYI I also ran the KNOX warranty reset (not sure if this is relevant)
Thank you
Morne
Only thing that fixed my phone with that same issue was SPT box. Ask your local repair shop
I had unknown baseband and null imei yesterday on my N9005 after flashing stock rom using Odin. After 5 hours trying to find a solution I almost lost hope but then I tried flashing a other modem and it worked Phone works now and I have been using it all day.
The modem I flashed is CP_N9005XXUFNG2
I flashed it on N9005XXUEND5 (Nordic)
So my tip for you is to try find a different modem for your phone and flash it using Odin
Hope it helps

i am going to try now... i will inform you soon...
I could not select to thick phone bootloader update, during stock rom installation.
We have to find necessary files sperately to correct what we did wrong, and during normal stock installation damaged side does not rewritten that results still imei null and basband unkown (
1-) i try stock rom with pit files 718 and 805 eur open 32GB for N9005 but not fixed..
2-) Tried different modems on different stock or custom roms ...
Now time to find BOOTLOADER FILES TO INSTALL WITH ODIN )
Not sure this would help but have you tried a Factory Reset with clearing all cache's? If it works then try reflashing your stock saved ROM over it to regain all your apps.
Here is what happend.
The rom I was using before I got unknown baseband and null imei was N9005XXUFNF4. Note, this is the latest UK rom. I then flashed a Nordic rom that was available at that time which was N9005XXUEND5. Note, this rom is older and uses an older modem than N9005XXUFNF4. This caused unknown baseband and null imei for me.
The reason why I flashed in the first place was because I'm from Sweden and the new update that N9005XXUFNF4 had was available OTA on N9005XXUEND5 rom.
The latest Nordic rom that I downloaded from sammobile is N9005XXUFNG2. Note, this rom uses N9005XXUFNG2 modem, the same modem I flashed on N9005XXUEND5.
Problem now is that I can't receive OTA because it now thinks that I got the latest update already because I got the latest modem installed.
I flashed latest Nordic rom N9005XXUFNG2 today and everything is working fine now.

You're welcome
My N9005 32GB story little bit unkown.
It is Stupid Story but i did not check original rom was 4.3 or 4.4.2 ??? Because i got 2 new phones from my friends to make root and install custom ROM. One of them was 4.4.2 rom that i was sucessfully root and install omega20 ROM. I suppose both phone was same and did not checked second one then when i was installing 4.4.2 CWM KK files with ODIN phone was freeze and fail !!!
I tried many stock roms and custom roms some recovery fix scripts etc. etc. Finally i start to use Mirek's method till adb commands... Last thing that i could not success to check Mirek's method is good for my phone... Last step was writing serial number IMEI no to dev block but i could not do it...Because of my adb knowledge nothing. I did many things blindly ) let me do try and see the results...
Let's forget about past. Please advice me what should i do now to try to fix the phone.
Final status is ROM installed stock SEE ROM and my CSC now EUR but still imei null and unknown baseband... AP:N9005XXUFNG2 , CSC:N9005OXXFNG2
I am sure that the phone info shows original CSC EUR, this phone was XSI. During the custom rom installation CSC was changed. ( sweet rom can change CSC code, during aroma installation asking to select CSC ).
Any advice ?
Thanks and Regards.

I have 6 different N9005 LTE modems 5 of them failed. now i am trying last one.
installing with odin two times with unthicked autobootloader as mentioned read one of the xda forum tread.
A question how can i know modem installed succsesfully because of unkown baseband phone info shows nothing !!!
is there another way to understand installed modem ?
i plan to install last E3 modem which was latest. i started from oldest to newest. on XXuFNG2 rom and csc EUR. if last one fail then i plan to follow mireks methods with adb commands. i was reading adb commands on android.com and viewed many videos on youtube about adb..
i am still working reading trying but still imei null and unknown baseband.
Same boat
I'm in the same boat as you guys!
No network, baseband, imei, nothing
I was on 4.3 MK2 XSI and flashed KK netherlands PHN stock ND3.
On first flashing, I got error "invalid ext4" on odin 3.09
Then I flashed the same ND3 with pit file and it passed.
Then this happened. no network, imei.
BTW I have EFS backup in .IMG backup which has that mc11.something file. But replacing that is of no use.
What do you guys suggest ? Can I flash NG2 stock on this XSI region stock ?
Will I require to use PIT file ?
Thanks

Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 IMEI / Baseband NULL / NULL
Hello every body, and thank you at advance for multiple sharing , and help solving android problems.
Am facing the same problem of NULL imei and base band as well, i endured this issu after a month of experiencing a new official update from kitkat 4.4.4 to lollipop 5.0.1 it worked fine at first but with use i had heat issu, and loss of network 2G intermittently ..
i tried to root the device, but it gave no solution, the re-install of lollipop non-official leads me to the loss of IMEI numbre.
i triyed to downgrade to kitkat, i didnot found the 4.4.4 version in samsung stock, i've downloaded 4.4.2 , reinstall, the lollipop is still persisting.
back to hard samsung wipe data , also gave nothing.
please advise.
thank you
PS : i have no ESF backup

i followed a youtube tutorial for the basic of modem flashing just follow his video for the odin version and he advise to flash the modem twice i did exactly that and it went fine and now i am albe to recive and make calls
this is what i did
downloaded the odin version 3.04
downloaded the modem file that op provided
unzip it to desk top
run odin as administrator
un checked "reboot"
turn the phone into download mode and connected to the pc
selected "phone" in Odinn and navigated to the bin file
hit start
onec it is over i did re flashed it once again
and it will do the work
i will also post the video which i followed

You need to descripe what you did. There are many ways that can result in imei null.
A couple of days back I updated my s4 and then I dropped it. It rebooted and ola my imei is gone for ever

If it was working before you dropped it, then you have hardware damage and the above method will not fix it. Bring it to a service center.

Signal problems

Hi
I've had the i9505 for more than a year now, within the week of buying it I installed wanamlite rom with no problems, maybe a little weak on the signal, but nothing major, but a couple of days ago y wanted to try the latest one from wanamlite, but after installing it the signal was horrible, no signal for the most part, I read it could be the modem or something, so I changed the rom to goldeneye, now I have signal but no internet (I have 3g), does someone know what could be the problem and how to solve it?
I have a GT-I9505 4.4.2
baseband I9505VJUAMDE
kernl imperium 1.8
And I live in santiago Chile
Greetings and thanks

Hi mate
the modem you have is kind of old try a different one to see if your signal improves ( no need to change the rom) , check this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025
To fix your wifi look in the thread for the wifi fix
Odin flashable NON-HLOS.bin (called WiFi FIX) for Samsung Galaxy S4 - GT-I9505
Use it with care!!!
Open in Odin as PHONE!!
WiFi FIX Collection: XXUAMDE - XXUFNC9 - Download: <<<Dev-Host >>>
Thanks for the answer.
But which of all those modems should I install?

well all that depends in what bootloader you have , if you were 4.4.2 before you installed wanamlite you could flash any of the newer ones or
update all modem / bootloader as your knox has been tripped already
