People, we are moving far too many questions into Q&A!
If your question has a [Q] in front of it, it DOESN"T BELONG IN GENERAL!!
Even if there isn't a [Q] there, if it's a question, it DOESN'T BELONG IN GENERAL!!
Please, post in the appropriate forum
Why not redirect threads marked with [Q] automatically to Q&A? People won't stop posting questions in the General section

We've asked for that feature, I don't know if it's possible, but it sure would help.

I see that the people posting in the General section at least mark the thread as question. So redirecting it automatically could reduce something like 60%+ of the questions here.
Do they know what Q&A is?

It's not that they don't know what Q and A is, its just that they think that the question will be solved faster if its in a section where a lot of users visit (more interesting).
But their logic is flawed, since a big flame feast will start the moment they do that lool
I haven't opened a new thread to ask a question in a while, but as far as i know, if you check the box "this is a question" you get an additional warning that posting it in any other section than q&a is a rule violation and one has to confirm to actually post it.
that means that those people clearly violate forum rules after being warned about it. in some devices' sections, threads like that are deleted without further notice, because the moderators don't see themselves as maids for lazy or impudent users.
also, it should be noted, that posting problems, bugs or hardware issues also counts as posting a question.
that means:
- hardware issues should be posted in existing threads of the same issue and for every broken button, the bezel, the display and the battery there already is at least one thread in Q&A.
- hardware issues with accessories should be posted in the accessories section (also in existing threads, where applicable).
- problems with certain apps can be discussed in the themes and apps section, if they are published there, or in Q&A, if not.
- problems that apply to specific roms only should be discussed in the rom's development thread (except for CM), if that helps getting rid of bugs.
If you are a new user that does not yet have the permission to post in development, search if the bug or problem you want to report is already posted, if not, you can either get to the post minimum (without spamming!) to post there yourself or ask in Q&A.
It is so easy and self-explanatory, I don't see, why people keep breaking those rules.
Well the last thing I want to do is warn and/or infract people for posting questions here, but I have to say, this is ridiculous. Dozens and dozens of reports a day (if it weren't for Chef Tony this would be even worse) of questions posted here in General.
Post in the proper forum!!! We have much bigger fish to fry than to constantly have to fix your mistakes! Sorry, but at this point I am thoroughly frustrated. Official warnings and infractions from now on, especially if you've put that [Q] there and ignored the warning.
It's simple why they doesn't follow the rules... they just doesn't read the rules You can just tap I accept and done. Who likes to spend a lot of time reading rules? 90% [i think it's really 90%] here doesn't read it. But most of them just know what they can and cannot do.

I do not envy the jobs of you guys as moderators. I am often thoroughly annoyed by various rule violations to the point where I would admonish the violators, but seeing as how I have no actual power, I tend to just as often get flamed for daring to question their status as a special snowflake.

I can assure you that Moderators appreciate help. Some think they are being a pain when they report but they're really not - we can't be everywhere at once. Instead of engaging on the thread tell us and we'll handle it for you

Obviously people just don't read. Thread closed by suggestion, it was a good one.
Samsung just announced that they will be selling the GS3 with an unlocked boot loader:laugh: for $600 USA.
Let the modding begin.
Do people not look to see if other threads exist before making one? I guess I answered my own question.
dude, this is thread number 7 on this topic alone. Please read before creating a new thread. Not trying to be mean but if you would have just looked, you would see discussion on this in every thread in general section. Even the ones that have nothing to do with it.

I sincerely apologize - I was too quick to post. Won't happen again.
Good lord, every other thread is about this same topic
Hi guys. As you know, there are always some members bringing up posts, repeating it, discussing useless and pointless threads. However , what you can do is to kindly tell them to post what kind of threads and not just discourage them and insult them for the posts they made. Everyone surely have done that when they are new as they are very enthusiastic am I right??? So, if you see members posting useless or pointless threads again , it would be advisable to tell them off nicely or answer their question and clear their doubts . I am saying this as I felt this this was a common sight in the Forum and I experienced this before when I was a newbie. I mean, obviously you would hope that people would respond to your question right? Please kindly spread this post to gain awareness and never be rude to newbies! Teach them, guide them so that they could know more about the i9000

Not needed to spread anything from this thread.
Any member should know the Forum Rules (sticky):

Hi there, all you guys and moderators.
I can't help my self from posting this...being frustrated and a wee bit disappointed!
I can't for the life of me see, nor understand, the "rule" for a new member of this forum, being prohibited to comment and/or post anything elsewhere then to the "approved" threads before making any post anywhere else! And mind you, you've got to produce ten (10) posts before being able to share your experiences and/or thoughts to anyone, such as the ROM-provider or a noob searching a answer...
And yes, I'm a noob..to you. Being a freshman at this forum doesn't necessarily mean I'm a noob at what I'm doing
With this post I want to share my thoughts around the posting rules here...and it triggers a flashback memory from when I worked as a consultant programmer at a BIG Swedish company and one of the other consultants asks me why they never saw me at the hours of extended hours at work, since the wast majority of consultants were there...well...my reply was: Why should I do extended working hours when I'm capable of finishing my work on a daily basis, working 9 to 5? I did not ever got an answer! My answer was to show that overtime hours didn't necessarily equals efficiency...
Get the drift don't you ? What I'm getting at is that it seems to me that quantity matters more than quality within this forum...and that conclusion doesn't feel nice at all!
I once upon a lullaby joined MS beta tester program...no one ever at MS had questioned the number of feedback experiences from the software/OS's that they have sent me...I'm living in the belief that MS actually took a look at the feedback provided and discovered that this guy probably got some experience, skills and interests for us to learn from...this said, not to express myself as a number one person to listen to, but as a noob within this forum, frustrated and PO'd.
Question that still lingers on: Why does quantity matters more than quality?
The minimum of 10 posts is before you can post in development fora.
You shouldn't be posting in development fora unless you're releasing something you developed anyways... Unless you're trying to offer feedback in a thread that already exists there.
The idea about not letting you post there before your get to 10 posts is so that maybe you figure this out, or someone tells you this. It's an imperfect system, but it's what the moderator committee has to work with.
Also, there is a HUGE difference between being a n00b, and being a new member. N00bs don't learn, or at least, they don't learn very easily.
Rules are there to limit the off topic, wrongfully posted threads in dev forums. That being said this thread has nothing to do with the device and because of which shouldn't have been made here. @OP go to Q&A and help other members to get your post .
Please understand, this is not aimed at all moderators here... Just a couple that are taking the fun out it, or are just bored. You have the power, and most often are right! But I am seeing a few over using their powers here.
I see the Verizon note 4 forums dying very quickly. Someone starts a thread about getting a new Note 4 and it gets locked because it's irrelevant..? I see someone start a thread about sprint getting lollipop, showing its coming, and it gets locked because there is a dead lollipop thread from 2 months ago that already has mentioned. But the mod is wrong... The newest lollipop thread is about sprint getting it first in the states and obviously trying to get the Vzw Note forums going again. No harm in that at all.
I am seeing these type of actions a lot in this forum by mods.
Instead the mods allow threads that state goodbye Note 4 hello Nexus 6 and others that are negative and not useful to this forum.
Give it to me guys. I bet this thread gets locked and deleted immediately. I am sorry for this, I'm just upset at the over moderating...
Although sometimes I question, taking a step back and looking at the entire pictures does make some sense as to why they are doing this.
Watching many of the posts that have been coming through, end up getting garbled into nothing but arguing, off-topic or such. They have countlessly had to re-direct and delete topics/posts due to this. Doing so makes it hard to allow other posts that have similar topic meaning as another that they do not want to have to moderate yet again. Keeping the threads down to a more centralized, easier flow of topics is what they are more likely aiming for.
This is coming from a staff member of another forums, Good day to you.
Hi Leroy, My name is Josh.
I appreciate you voicing your concern publicly on the forums.
I closed your previous seemingly duplicate thread on this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...e-4-moderators-to-chill-t3057547#post59513029
To your post. I completely respect your opinion and I want to suggest that you get in touch with the moderators if you have concerns instead of opening a thread on it. My doors are always open. As i'm sure other mods are! Shoot me a pm! We're just here doing our best to help.
Gonna close the thread since it will probably turn into a flame war.
