Hi, i am on stock android 5.0 ROOTED. Before rooting, i ran into a problem and had to reset my phone to Factory default (Did remove Ext SD card before doing this). I always store my pictures/videos on my external SD card. I had added some of these files to Private Mode. But after factory reset and flashing to new Firmware, my Private mode is not showing my old Pictures/Videos which i sotred in my External SD card.
Is there any way to recover them ? or re-enable them in Private mode ?
Please help.

...does it restore the provided SD card to the factory settings (i.e. all contents as shipped from factory)?
What happens if I format the SD then do a factory reset - is the SD repopulated with the original contents?
Thanks,
Rodolphe
No, it's not, unfortunately. S'why I made a backup of the original SD contents.
Yeah it's a good idea to backup your SD card to your PC. e.g. for your maps, but for anything else you might want to keep too.
Hi everyone,
I've updated my firmware through Odin & I didn't realise I have to decrypt my SD card before flashing. Now my phone are able to read the SD card but unable to open the files. Images & songs/sounds wouldn't open. What should I do? I didn't do a recovery or anything.
Please help.
Thanks.
Hi,
I think a few things have changed in Kitkat and my S5 cannot lock files on SD card.
i tried a few apps but it did not work. The private mode also shifts all files to phone memory.
is there any app where i can put files on SD card and lock them ?
thanks
Hi All,
I have an S5 - G900F running Android 5.0 stock and I would like to encrypt the SD card. As I am often forced to factory reset, sometimes because the phone boot loops I am not always in the position to decrypt the SD card first.
I would like to know: can I access and backup the encryption key for the SD card so I can access the data after a reset. Or failing that, some encryption software that can secure the whole card and works with fingerprint log in.
Thanks
John
Hello, i own Xiaomi Mi A1 with rooted Android 8.1.0 and i got 32GB Samsung SD Card.
I was using it as internal storage, i wanted to get rid of it to make space for another SIM.
I made sure that there are no apps - Moved everything to internal space.
I checked usage of SD card and there were only system and apps, a said fine, i am ok with deleting and reisntall some apps.
So i formatted the SD card ("Use as external storage")
And then i noticed all my pictures are gone. If i am right, when you use SD card as internal storage, device encrypts the card, then it was formatted.
I immediately took card out of phone. I am still own this device, so is there any way to recover encryption key or something?
Now i am tryin recover files with app PhotoRec, but it doesn't seems to get any files.
Any idea how to get photos back? I don't have updated backup of Google Photos.
Sorry but you have no hope, did they not backup to google photos or did you not have that turned on.
So there is no way to recover content of card and then decrypte?
I did not turn that on intentionally, i thought i am smart enough not to do such a stupid stepwithout backup, lol.
EDL Mode
I had the same problem. I only managed to solve via EDL Mode. On youtube there are several videos teaching how to do it.
