i want to trade my note 4 for a note 3. i miss root that much. i found one online that is still runnning 4.4.2 nc4 but he said he had it unlocked and that why he never took the update. will this prevent towel root from working or cause any other issues before i trade. i dont want to trade and get stuck with a note 3 that i can root.

I am still on 4.4.2 NC4. Towel Root DOES work on this version. I am stock, rooted, with Xposed.
What condition is your Note 4? My Note 3 is in excellent condition.....hint hint(wouldn't mind trading...)

You may already know this......but when I was shopping for a Note 3 on eBay & Swappa, a lot of folks advertising 'unlocked' actually meant carrier unlocked.

There is NO bootloader unlock. Period. The developer's edition came with the bootloader unlocked...but the normal OTA updates don't work with it...so no matter what....you're SOL.
All Verizon Note 3's are carrier (SIM) unlocked.

Well I didn't get that one...or was already rooted but very beat up. I did however buy a devepoler edition on ebay...haven't received it yet. I'm regretting buying it as I've been informed that it's not supported by Samsung and people have had issues. Anyone have any feedback for me if I can't return it I'm stuck.

I have the International Original N7000 Note. It is unlocked and I have used it on ATT since it came out. I'm rooted and have Rocket ROM on it
Since it was always my phone, I never worried about ATT giving me a hard time about it being Rooted.
But I am thinking of upgrading to the new Note 3 from ATT.
I'm sure ROMs will be developed for it.
What are the pitfalls with ATT if I root the phone? Other than they wouldn't support it if I bricked it.
Will they Brick it with an Update?
Will they detect it is rooted and give me a hard time?
Looks pretty sharp and I can sell my Unlocked International note for some pretty good change still. But I know I'll want to root the phone.
The AT&T boot loader is locked. It will need to be cracked before a custom ROM is possible, and the S4 hasn't been cracked since the original vulnerability was "fixed" .
You may be out of luck with AT&T.

Hmmm, so none of the ATT branded notes could be rooted?
I'll have to look into some other LTE version perhaps.

They may sell the international version, but I don't know if that's unlocked/ rooted. Keep in mind, carrier unlocked isn't the same. e as bootloader unlocked

I see on youtube about Custom ROMs being loaded on ATT Note I and II.
So I'm trying to figure out what you guys are talking about here.

Hello all, i have a Verizon note 3 model sm-n900v, im running lollipop v5.0 stock ROM from Verizon update, i have a few questions that i need help with
1. i need root access to use some apps that require root, i know there is no working root method for the v5.0 update right now, i don't care about the Knox counter if i trip it or not, i just want root access,
2. is there any way to flash a rom that has root access ? if so whats a good rom to try ?
3. i want to be able to use my note 3 on straight talk service, i looked at the APN settings and its greyed out, so i cant add any APN's to the list, can this be done with a new rom?
4. how can i tell if my note 3 is locked ? my wife has a galaxy s5 through a different carrier named Appalachian Wireless and i took her sim card out and put it in my phone and made a call to our home phone and
her number was shown on the caller id, so i know i can use sim cards from that company, but what about straight talk?
any help with these questions would be great, thanks in advance

i think ill just get a new phone, and give this note 3 to my wife, she would never use any app that needs root access anyway, thanks, i got the note 3 downgraded to 4.4.4 from 5.0 but thats as far back as i can go, verizon needs to unlock the bootloader on these notes

That's what I'm about to do. My note 3 I'd rooted though. I'm keeping it. I just sold my note 4 edge on swappa. That was the worst Samsung phone I have ever had besides the s4. The worst phone I have ever had period.

Hello! i tried all to root my device! but nothing works! someone knows whats happen?
always odin give my an error ?:
You can't root if you have lollipop installed unril someone finds a vulnerability. Verizon and Samsung locked the bootloader.

I am guessing that development for the Note 3 is all but dead now that they have the Note 5 and the new Nexus phones out, and that really sucks for those of us that love the Note 3 and are stuck with Lollipop. I really hope that some dev out here will still work on the Note 3 and find a way for us to get root.
Yep pretty much the case no root no hope hell note 4 is looking pretty grim too.
Is anyone working on a root for andriod
5 for Verizon?

Because this is the Verizon version. The bootloader is locked and can not be unlocked.
As far as I can find...there is no root method for the Verizon Note 4 or Note 5.

Root is over for this device. If you buy this version of the Note with 4.4.4 & up you will lose any ability to root, permanently. If it's that important to you search on Swappa or Fleabay for a model that has 4.4.2 or lower OS.
There really should be a sticky note with this headline as it seems this question keeps getting asked. I think some hope the more the question gets asked, sooner or later the answer will change.
im on nc4 (4.4.2)
i didnt know there was a android 5 out.
if i want to manually update from 4.4.2 rooted to 4.4.4 where do i get the verizon 4.4.4 tar at?
I am pretty new to rooting a phone but i was just looking around for a way to root my verizon note 4 SM-N910V on Android 5.0.1.
I tried googling and reading up on it but I have never rooted a phone before so I did not know exactly how to do it.
Sorry if this is an unnecessary post, thanks !

Unfortunately, there is really no root for it. I wouldn't even attempt a temporary on this phone.

sorry friend, you picked one of the worst development phones. nothing yet. Im hoping someday but its not looking great. My advice, find someone to trade their Tmobile note 4 for your VZW one. Thats what Im trying to do
ebay rooted ones?
I thought Tmobile note 4 wouldn't work on VZW? with custom ROM?
Saw some rooted Verizon Note 4 on eBay. I wonder if those were rooted before VZW locked the bootloader.
Would I be stuck with 4.4.4 if I get those?

The bootloader has always been locked, since day one. If they're rooted, they are development edition phones. There never has been root for this phone, and the bootloader has been locked down since day one.
C'mon folks... search the forum!!!
