A few questions after 3 weeks use.

After almost 3 weeks of using X10 I came up with a list of question that I hope some of you may be able to help me find solutions.
1. Regarding making/receiving calls through car speakerss when there is an auxiliary cable plugged into the phone, I can hear the person who I call/who calls me, but they cannot hear me through the phone. Is this true with everyone's phone? Listening to music and then having someone call me while it is plugged in is very annoying as I have to unplug the cable and wait a few seconds for the mic to start working.
2. Is there a way to make a shortcut on desktop for MMS & Data so I don't have to go to menu, settings, wireless controls, mobile networks to switch off 3G (to save on battery..) or any other solution ?
3. Does anyone know if there's a website where you can watch latest nhl highlights, since the phone doesn't support flash.
4. I would like to find an app similar to yellow pages, which will find whatever I need based on my current location using gps and not on the location that I input in the phone for the reasons such as most of the time I won't know my exact adress.
5. Does anyone know if Wisepilot is worth upgrading after a 30 day trial or is maps.brut should be enough for GPS.
6. Does anyone know how much data app like internet radio uses approx. ?
7. There's a function in mediascape for music called playlist, but I don't seem to be able to create my own playlist. The only one that is listed is recently played. Anyone know how to create your own ?

1- yes it is a commone problem people talked about around here
5- i guess google is doing good with updating the maps so its the same stick to maps(till garmin or something like that gets out )
6- this depends on the staion ur listing from what quality of music is it brodcasting, time of use and so on
7- u can add playlist by using media go, u creat a playlist on windows midea player or any other program or by media go, then u refresh media go to find ur playllist and right click there is transfer, then u find it in ur mediascape playlist that is the only way i guess. its fine with me

1. You need an inline microphone such as http://store.shure.com/store/shure/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.105498400 (I am sure you can find a much cheaper option if you shop around).
2. Yes just long press on the homescreen then choose shortcut and the path that you need.

4. If you allow Google to use your location it should do some of what you require otherwise try something like Superpagesmobile http://www.superpages.com/mobile/android
5. As Google maps now has navigation why pay for an application ?
6. It will depend on the bit rate of the station, but roughly 50Mb per hour for a 128k station
7. You can add playlists by using the built in music player app use the App AnyCut to add a shortcut to your homescreen (choose Activity then Music).

My phone came with Wisepilot installed, but I prefer the new Google maps navigation.

Google Nav is only available in the U.S. and the U.K. right now so you might need a third party GPS solution.
There are plenty of widgets available for turning off/on 3G.

SMS Notification mirroring and other questions re: A-Sure S3OVB Android HU

Hi All,
I recently treat myself to an A-Sure AS-S3OVB (Running android 5.1.1) headunit for my UK Spec Vauxhall Zafira. I am very impressed with the unit and making a few tweaks has made it into a very impressive piece of kit. I don't know if its MTCB or MTCD or even anything to do with those two things, so Im afraid I can't reliably post inside another sub-forum.
However, I now have a few final things that I would like to TRY to make the unit do...
1...
I want my Notifications from my phone (Not ALL notifications, just ones from SMS to appear on the HeadUnit (BIG CENTRAL SCREEN notification would be ideal) and perhaps read the message with TTS?
Is this possible, and does there exist any software to make this happen?
Essentially, i want my HeadUnit to do all the things it normally does, but also behave in a similar fashion to a smart watch for mirroring notifications.
I have looked at things like PUSHBULLET and the such but have had little success...

I would like to set one of my steering wheel control buttons to fire up google voice search, so as I can tap a button and then say "Play <generic song name> on spotify" - and thus said song will play.
Is its possible using the onboard software, or with a 3rd party app?

I would like to change what the external display says when i am using certain apps (its done through an external CANBUS box but I believe controlled by the software in the HU). For example, at the moment when I am running spotify, my external in car display shows "MP5" - Would be much prettier if i could make it say "Spotify" or "Streaming" or something similar.
Is this possible at all?

Finally, is there any way to get Google TTS to work with my mapping sortware? I use Co-Pilot Live which works 100% in every other way, just it doesnt work output and voice instructions when set to Google TTS. I have a feeling this is more to do with thge funky version of android thats installed as standard on the HU, less so than co-pilot itself.
Can anyone advise? Thanks in advance - I know someone will have an answer as this is seemingly the greatest forum on the whole of the interwebs!!!

1) try automate or Android auto to bring your phone notifications onto headunit
2) enable "ok Google" on every screen
3) not easy. you have to decompile the app used by mcu and modify it.
4) I don't know if copilot could use Google tts voices (or you have to install own copilot advanced voices). Sygic can use Google tts

1) I dont use Android Auto, can it be used via Bluetooth, or Wifi, or does it HAVE to be connected by USB cable?
2) I dont have the options to enable "ok Google" on every screen, I know the options SHOULD be there, and I know where they should be... But they are absent!
3) Sounds like a challenge for a project in the future
4) Copilot can use Google TTS as it works just like that on my phone - it just behaves a little differently on the HU, which is why I was wondering if they had left some part of the TTS system out of their build of android or something?

2) Google now works for me.in my unit. The developer should have to remove it.

10.25 Android/ with knob for Audi

Hey guys I recently had a android 10.25 unit installed in a Audi Q5 with has a knob with a back button and nav that replaces one of the side vents by the shifter, the unit works fine the only thing that bugs the hell out of me is 1 the brightness is to high at night I use some opacity app but it’s not convenient as it auto runs so during the day I have to change it back to brighter, the other thing is I can’t change anything on the menu, as I use Spotify I have no use for fixed apps on the menu like media, screen mirroring etc, I would like to find out if it’s possible to change some of the menu or tweak it in any way?!

Been also looking for a Bluetooth app even as basic as skipping songs pause play so I can use on launchers as it’s a pain to use Spotify offline installed on the unit ( deletes playlist) can’t even creat an activity for my headunit bt/dial player

Google maps driving mode

Hi there,
Is there, or can somebody make, an app that opens the shortcut to Google maps driving mode? The shortcut made by maps doesn't show up on my HU and in this way i hope i can start GM in driving mode.

Google Maps doesn't create the shortcut. The Launcher does.
You are probably using CarWebGuru. That doesn't show additional intents/activities by default.
Long tab the icon, select explore and you get all available launch intents.
It should be very simple to create such a kick-start app. I already created several. I will have a look tonight.
Edit: It seems that this is only possible by specifying a destination. In that case you can't start it directly in Drive mode.

I'm indeed using CWG, my favourite because of its many customization options and it's the best looking. Too bad Google maps and cover art don't work in the main widget.
Tried the long press before but that didn't work. I hope you can make that app. That would make me, and probably other people also, very happy.

There is indeed no icon for Drive mode as Google itself does not support that.
I created an app that starts Google Maps in Drive mode, but that is actually not possible without a destination. So it will not go any farther than this.

- apk (only a starter so only 18 Kb)
- launch icon (so you know how to find it) and it is called "StartapsInDriveMode" in the launcher

It briefly shows the full application and then switches to driving mode. This is the same behavior with the shortcut created by maps, so this is normal.
Nice job.
And btw: Google maps note also works in the main widget of CarWebGuru... I hope this stays like this.

Here WeGo beta

Does anyone of you tried the new Here WeGo Beta on there Android head unit? Does it function fine? On my side I have those bugs:
- Voice instructions always cut after some seconds.
- Search engine really slow. Very often it stop searching without having fond anything. The stable version has a search engine that is fast and efficient.
- When I miss an exit on the highway, it failed to recalculate my itinerary and move the destination cursor near the next exit.
- The app can not restart a map download that has been interrupted. The result is a corrupt map that can not be deleted or re-downloaded via the app.
- Gives only one possible itinerary.
Tested on a PX5. The stable version function really well.

I use IGO navigation which uses HERE. Works fine on PX5 and 6
