I used the LG Suite to upgrade my LG G2 from Kitkat to Lollipop. The whole upgrade process went fine but when I started using it, the touchscreen became unusable. I have to tap on a different area of the screen for every action, and I am using it by taping the whole screen until one of the taps eventually gets me what I want. When I have to unlock the phone, swiping does not work and it registers taps at different spots on the screen when I make the swipe gesture.
The other problem is that the phone is showing only 10.6 GB as the total storage, out of which 8.9GB is available when I connect it to my PC. My phone has 32GB storage and phone's Settings Menu shows that 21.67 GB have been taken by "Misc" data. All of my previous apps and all of the data is gone. I think the upgrade process might have moved it somewhere else and that's why it is still taking space on the internal storage but I can't seem to be able to access it. I want some way to fix both issues.
The phone is unrooted and stock. I am currently using it by connecting a USB mouse. I have attached some screenshots as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will be very thankful if anyone can help me through this problem. Thanks in advance.

Hello, my sgs often disables the touch screen while typing or simply using the phone. For instance, while you are typing a sms a whole part of the soft keyboard gets unclickable, sometimes the whole screen is unclickable. This happens on every application, every rom I tried. To fix this (for a couple of seconds) I need to push the power btn to make it sleep and then wake up again, and the touch software magically wakes up as well.
Sometimes it works well for days. Sometimes a poltergeist clicks randomly wherever in the screen, and you got to battle to quickly exit every application is starting or configuration being changed by random clicks.
While at first sight this may look like a hardware fail, this can't be because just sleeping it and waking it up solves temporarily the problem. Furthermore, happens that works very nice and smooth for days and days.
Anyone else faced and perhaps solved this issue? Maybe another keyboard program? some kind of replacement? I tried one click lag fix (rooted) but looks to me it has nothing to do with that (in fact does not solve it)
Thanks for any support, this is really the best phone in the market now and it's a pity to have this kinda virus-like behaviour.
hmm not me. normally a re-flash will solve all problems.
like, you reformat your SD cards (both internal and external (if any)), flash (with re-partition ticked). after booting up, reformat SD cards again. go recovery menu and wipe data/factory reset and cache.
lol that should solve everything since you're at the default of defaults?
reccomend you not to restore apps/settings via anything. start everything afresh.
that's just me.
with original firmware (unbranded 2.1 from mediaworld - mediamarkt) I only got stuck lotsa times, with JP3 and now with JP2 I get less often stuck but got this random clicks... more often when the battery is low. For instance when the phone is totally dained and I plug and poweron, it's ghost haunted! Need an exorcist Happens randomly, then you leave it for an hour in your pocket and will behave flawlessly for dozen of hours. Don't have a clue.
P.S. formatting internal sd card won't erase everything, including OS? Or just os-settings?
formatting your sd cards will just delete whatever documents you've put onto your device. system stuff are intact.

May I conclude that the problem is worse when you use your phone while charging it? If so, maybe your phone is haunted by a cousin of the famous shaky screen (while on charger) ghost. See this thread.
Good luck with finding the GhostBusters for this one
I've noticed that the touch screen is less responsive when plugged into a charger. Maybe because of the electrical current running through the phone.
But your situation just seems like lag to me. Next time it happens, open up the task manager and check how much free ram you have. A solution to lag would be to use a lag fix and install AutoKiller. You'll need root for both though.
Some background...
I am using a stock unlocked Samsung Galaxy S purchased in the UK in June this year. The phone died about a month ago (just stopped completely dead in the middle of charging) and was returned to Samsung for repair. They returned it with the newer Update 1 (2.1/Eclair) firmware which was noticeably faster and smoother than my previous firmware.
Installing Froyo has been an absolute nightmare. It took several attempts with two different Windows XP machines just to get the Kies (total crapfest) software working. The first PC was nearly killed by all of the rubbish that Kies installs on the PC. Connecting the phone to the PC just caused total lockups and eventually caused some kind of CMOS data corruption which resulted in a non functioning PC (this required several hours to put right).
Finally got Kies running on my second XP laptop after a lot of phone connection issues surrounding the lack of correct Samsung Phone drivers (which I had to hunt down on the web).
Froyo itself seemed to work great initially. However, I was annoyed to see that the Phone Pad style keyboard's predictive T9 feature is almost completely disabled within the browser. I had to replace the keyboard with Touchpal. The flash in web pages works brilliantly for video and I wouldnt like to return to a phone without this feature. In terms of general speed and improvements in performance I cant say I can notice any difference - my previous Update 1 was just as quick & responsive as far as I can tell. Some of the small detail changes are nice, like folders support for bookmarks in the browser and page previews for each browser window. The new copy/paste controls are really neat, very iphone like though a little more clunky.
However the phone has now started rebooting itself randomly - does not appear to be any kind of pattern to the behaviour. I have tried everything to fix this but so far nothing has worked and the phone continues to reboot randomly. Problem is intermittent, so sometimes it will go 30 minutes before rebooting whilst other times it will reboot several times within minutes of switching on. Have removed SD card, formatted internal SD, factory reset (3 or 4 times) and have been running the phone in untouched stock configuration i.e. no apps, no google accounts, standard lock screens/wallpaper, no wifi settings etc. but none of this has resolved the issue. Phone is also switching itself on (after being switched off and left in drawer) and going into a repeating cycle of rebooting - its like the phone has been possessed!
I've given up now and will be returning the device for its second repair.
Tried a factory reset? Always worth a go. Is the device getting abnormally hot?
Yes, I have factory reset the device several times. The device is running in its original configuration like it would when switched on for the very first time after purchase. I have also subjectively checked device temperatures at time of reboots - most of the time the device is stone cold as it is normally not doing anything except sitting in standby.
Sound more a hardware problem from what you mentioned. If this is a sw bug, then sammy will be in huge trouble!

I'm starting to think I might have something wrong with my Note. From time to time I'll turn on the screen and go to do something, but it'll freeze, then go black and make the chimes sound it does when booting up. At first I thought touchwiz was restarting since it doesn't always make the chime sound, but now I'm pretty sure it's doing a full reboot.
Yesterday I got the freakout reboot, but this time it booted up into Safe Mode! I didn't even know there was such a thing on Android, but see the attached screenshot. It clearly says Safe Mode in the bottom left corner, and it deleted several widgets from my home screens, and in my app drawer it removed most of the apps from the folders I'd created, but left the folders.
Rebooting took the device out of safe mode, but didn't fix my foldered icons or home screen widgets. Pretty annoying.
Anyone else had any Safe Mode experiences? Any idea what might cause a spontaneous reboot into it?
Since you have AT & T in your profile, could it be that you're posting in the wrong thread?
If you have AT&T Galaxy Note I717, you should go here for assistance:

Restart your phone. . My little boy managed to put my note into safe mode (dont ask me how cos i cant work it out how he did it) turning off the phone and restarting puts the phone back to normal

You enter safe mode buy touching the menu button while the phone boots. If you are not touching menu, then some ap/ software is causing this. Try a factory reset to see if that resolves the problem.

No, I have the international Note. I did just buy an AT&T version, too, but haven't started using it.
I did reboot back into normal mode already. I was mainly wondering if booting into safe mode was responsible for removing all of my aftermarket widgets, non-stock app links in the bottom quicklaunch section, and taking everything out of the folders in my app drawer except for the stock apps. I guess I'll start removing apps and hopefully the problem will go away. The spontaneous reboot happens probably once every other day on average, but just to safe mode that once so far.
my phone used to go into reboot loops often and also very predictable. widgets would not load properly too.
The problem as per me is a buggy apps 2 sd move occurring in the phone (reproducible event every single time i recreate that situation).
Solution that i found the hard way after a lot of trial and error and a lot of frustration (needing to repeatedly reload all my apps) was to go into application manager and delete any apps that are present but blanked out without logos. They are always some apps that have been moved to sd card improperly by the phone.
Sometimes when you try to move many apps fast to sd card in sequence then the move isnt done properly and you get application manager showing the app size as 4kb or 8kb or 12kb etc when the actual app size is many times that or even several hundred kbs or mbs. you will need to uninstall all these apps and reinstal them slowly one by one instead of autoupdating market apps which just recereates the problem if the app has already been moved to sd card.
Also another reason not to auto audate apps that have been moved to sd card is that sometimes when you have many apps then this auto update feature when moving it to sd card does it improperly and previous properly installed app after the autoupdate will cause the device to crash because the sd move is buggy and when you go through application manager then the app size show is at variance with actual size and usually just shows 4kb 8kb or 12kb etc instead of usual size. You will then need to uninstal these apps and start all over again.
Since manually moving apps to sd one by one and removing autoupdate for these apps i havent had issues usually.
Once the phone even got stuck on data signal only and would not let wifi on and when ever switched on it would immediately disable it autoatically. couldnt solve this by rebooting or deleting apps or firmware update (not rooted) and had to do a factory reset to sort the problem.
This is not an issue with sd card as even brand new sd cards cause the same issue again. The problem does not occur if all apps are on internal memory or sd card is removed. so guess it is an issue with phone being unable to properly work when many apps are trying to access info on card that it cant access because of improper transfer to sd card. phone then freezes and goes into reboot loops sometimes for 8hours at a go! only sorts itself when the apps are deleted and works ok when same apps are reinstalled properly.
ps: wondering what the safe mode does though and when it is useful to start in this mode? any pointers anyone.
once i accidentally removed the battery while the phone was on. When i put the battery back and restarted it, it booted in safe mode.
Mine just went into Safe Mode. I had rebooted the phone and put it in my pocket whilst it was rebooting. I rebooted normally and got it out of Safe Mode. There is one very annoying thing and one quite good thing that has resulted from this though.
Annoying thing: Many widgets now need putting back onto the home screens
Good thing: All Apps in the App Drawer are now in alphabetical order !!!!
Use app zorter from the market or clear data of touchwiz. All downloaded apps will be sorted automatically.
Well I had safe mode once after unexpected reboot. Still wondering what the reason was.
I have random rebooting issues with my Note as well. It hasn't always done this but it has been happening for the last few months and it'll generally happen once every couple of days. It does seem to be somehow related to moving apps around as mentioned in previous posts because I've had apps fail to move to SD a couple of times and it has rebooted once or twice whilst in the middle of trying to move an app to SD. It'll also sometimes reboot when auto-updating an app as I can hear the boot sound happening at times when I'm nowhere near the phone. I don't have any apps showing up with a dodgy icon at the moment but I have seen some stuff appear like that in the past and the only solution was to uninstall and reinstall the app; although that's only fixed the app in question, it's never solved the general rebooting issues. The phone will also sometimes lock up and reboot when trying to launch application (this seems to happen more often with newly installed apps at first launch, but that might just be a coincidence).
The only other odd thing I've noticed, which might well be completely unrelated, is that the shortcut for one particular app (the full version of "Where's My Water?") continually disappears from a folder of shortcuts on my main desktop screen. The app itself is usually still on the phone and will happily launch from the app drawer, but if I create a shortcut anywhere else it will always disappear again shortly afterwards and it's literally the only app this happens with. The only reason I mentioned this as possibly related is because the app has appeared with a bad icon once and had to be reinstalled again as if the phone had lost track of it on the SD card.
Anyway, I do get the feeling that the reboots are happening when the phone can't find something on SD storage, or when it can't get data on/off the card fast enough or whatever. God knows how you'd get to the bottom of this or solve it though; the ICS upgrade will probably force me to do a factory reset of my phone so I'm hoping the issue will just fix itself as part of that process otherwise I'll just need to put up with being annoyed at it.
Apologies if this is the wrong forum, just updated my Moto X play to marshmellow 6.0.1. When I plug the phone into my pc, I can see my phone as XT1562 but when I click on it, its empty. I have looked around on the internet and I have tried the solution whereby you go into apps, , click on the 3 dots (overflow apps) and locate external storage and clear data and cashe, then media storage and do the same again. Reboot your phone, then the files then that is supposed to fix the issue, it doesnt work for me, my phone is blank. Ive got an 32gb micro sd card in it too. Nothing shows up on my pc. How can I fix it? I had no problems on 5.1..1, its just since this update. Noticed one or two other issues like no email app, this I can live with. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys

I'm assuming your phone's Android version is the same (meaning, almost stock) as the X2. If so, try the following: after plugging your phone to your PC, unlock your phone and tap on the notification that says "Charging". It should give you the option to change to MTP or PTP.
Hello all,
I have a Moto Z Force Droid (XT1650-02). It's running on Android version 8.0.0, and build number OCLS27.76-69-6. It was acquired from Verizon. It is not rooted (sadly), and the bootloader is locked. It has 32GB of internal storage, however, I added an SDCard(64GB) to increase that storage space.
I'm having some problem(s) with my SDCard, or more so its usage as adopted storage. I've had the phone with the storage for quite a while and everything has been fine. However, 3-4 days ago was when the issues started. One night, my phone was acting really laggy. Which I just chalked up to tech being tech. I let it sit for a bit, tried rebooting it, etc. Well, as time progresses it seems to me that Facebook Messenger is what's slowing it down. So, I try uninstalling it. Of course, this isn't working and android just keeps giving me a helpful little notification that the app is uninstalling (for much longer than it *should* take). I figured I'd reboot into safe mode and try uninstalling it from there. The phone powers off and reboots fine. However, when I tried to unlock the screen, the entire phone froze and crashed after a minute or two. Once it reboots, it gets stuck in the bootloader (or, more specifically, where it says "DROID" and there are little shiny spots moving around the letters). So I used the power button to force the device off and try rebooting again. Again, boots up fine but it freezes at unlock and the cycle starts again.
Around 2 days ago I took it to a Verizon store. Originally I was just told I was going to have to factory reset (which I didn't want to because all the pictures I have and such would be lost. Apps are backed up by Google though). They told me to take out the SDCard, to help save what I could. Then, I got the bright idea to try booting without the card. This time the phone booted fine and unlocked like it should (the only problem now is that I had no internal storage and all the apps that were on the SDCard aren't loading since no SDCard).
When I leave the phone on and install the SDCard, I can browse the internal storage again. However, I can't see any of the files when I try transferring them to PC over USB. As well, after a while of using the phone, or even letting it idle, it will eventually crash and go back to the above botting and not-unlocking scenarios.
Based on how/when the problem started, and the logcats I've grabbed as the phone was crashing, I have reason to believe it has something to do with Facebook Messenger not being removed correctly. [Logcats in the comment below.]
Any help would be greatly appreciated. As well, please tell me if there's anything that needs clarification. (Sorry for the wall of text. I just don't know what else to do at the moment.)
