Note 4 suddenly turned itself off wont boot without removing battery - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hall All,
My phone just turned itself off while having enough battery left but would not start till I removed the battery and put it back in. I am currently using Cyanogenmod 12.1 latest nightly build.
I was wondering if someone had the same problem . Phone is 1 month old .
Greetz
Umm

Same issue after taking photos
I have the same issue with the phone turning off straight after I take photos. Not all the time but it is getting more and more frequent. I then have to take out the battery and replace before the phone turns on. Mine is a 910F 5.0.1
Any ideas???

[Q][HELP] Phone won't turn on or charge

Hi. I was using my phone and I put it down because I wanted to play Skyrim on my computer. After about 30 minutes, I checked on my phone and noticed that it wouldn't turn on. THe battery was at around half when I put it down but I don't think it's a dead battery because the phone won't even charge. I tried taking the battery out but to no avail as well.
I recently installed Temasek's CM12 nightly on it but everything was running smoothly (less buggy than the official CM12) so I'm not exactly sure what's going on. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, and I have the Sprint variant.
Edit: I just tried turning on the phone again and it worked... Im not sure what happened.

Crashing, turn off and massive battery loss

So a few times now my note 4 has crashed (black screen) and turned off. When I turn back on the battery level has massively dropped (30-40% gone) yesterday went from about 40% to 0%. The 40% seemed accurate as using it not too much and usually about that percent at that time of day. Also noticed a few other things, when I connect my note to the pc it takes a while to start and stop charging and isn't being recognised by the pc (or the note isn't detecting it is connected to a pc - only charges)
Any ideas?
Try a different battery?
Are you rooted or custom rom?
Hi, not rooted and stock rom. Had an update yesterday which mentions better battery performance. maybe they fixed something. I'll give it a week. Have also contacted samsung. Not sure if battery is included in the 24 month warranty
I'm running stock 6.01 deodexed and rooted, It's happened to me a couple of time. Either its a samsung bug or the battery is just recalibrating itself. Probably the recalibration
That's good to know but worrying. Its really bad if it happens when I'm out. I think I have a good 10 hours of battery and then bam nothing. If I get anywhere with Samsung I'll post back

Note 3 shuts down and starts only after pulling out battery or putting on charger. :(

I have sm n900 which is 2 and half year old. I rooted this device in a first week when I bought it. The device was smooth and everything was pretty fine. But recently 4 month ago, I had a first crash while opening camera360 app. The device goes full black and doesn't turns on. I have to pull out my battery and put it back in to turn it on.
And after few days, it crashed and shut down again while I started playing Dominations. It has not crashed on camera360 since then , but has continued its crash by getting shut down, while starting Dominations.
Then, I changed my battery and bought a new one and I still face the same problem. I changed from VN-ROM to CM 12.1. The problem still persists. It only shuts down when I open Dominations. Else, it is smooth for other games like Piano Tiles 2. I don't know what is this. Also, it never crashes when I open Dominations while plugged in. I thought it was the battery issue but I even changed to new battery. Please help!! Below are the screenshot of battery after blackout. The screenshot is from both ROM. One is 4.4.2 kitkat and other is 5.1.1 lollipop. Is this the hardware issue? I think it crashes when it needs more RAM and then sudden blackout..

Sudden and extreme batterydrain, from 30% to zero instantly

Hi guys
Whats causing this batterydrain?
I've had three occations where the battery goes from roughly 30% to none in an instant.
Today I was hiking in the mountains and taking pictures when suddenly the battery dropped once again (third time in a row and this week) and be damned I didn't get to capture a single photo on the top as it died halfways.
Was on Nitrogen rom (latest build may 28th) where I discovered the problem. Made a clean install of the latest Pure Nexes build, same story..
Battery says 1% when I try to turn on the phone after it shuts down and then it shuts down again.
Chargeing it starts from 1.2.3.4.5.. and so on.

Long story short, your battery is bad and in need of replacement. If you want to keep the phone, you need a new battery.
Yeah, pretty much no matter what I do this is the result...daily reboots help (kinda) and keeping high accuracy off and GPS only for location services...
Either replace the battery yourself (if you're brave) or call Google and see if they will send you a refurbished device with a better battery.

Another strange battery thread

Hey,
yes i know: another battery thread. But tbh i havn't seen a thread with a similar problem description so far. Im using a Note 3 SM-9005
After my Note3 got super slow with normal samsung rom, i decided to flash it and install LineageOS 14.X. It works amazing! Feelt like a super new phone to me. Just some problems with rotation but i could life with that. One year later my battery started to drain faster. But a while after that i could fully charge my phone, watch some YT videos (like 20min overall) and then the phone just goes off. Its super hot near camera (processor i guess?) after turning it on again it was at 1%. 1 Month ago i tried to finaly fix it by flashing to LineageOS 15.X (Android 8.1) but the problem is still the same. And now its not just videos, if the phone screen is on for more then 20min it will turn off (even if it says 50%)
But not enough.
- After shutting down automaticly, it start itself again and shutdown again and so on. Until i plugin a charger then it stops doing it (or if i remove the battery).
- If im just listining to music it works fine (no screen on time), but while listining music in freezes for 1 up to 3 seccends (on avg every 10s one "freeze")
- It can happen after 5min of usage after charging it to 100% or i can listin to music for over 70min, than can have it in my pocket for 9 hrs, can hear music again for 70min and it still works (all of that with less to none SOT)
I havnt tried so much tbh, cuz i always thought it is a battery problem. But the new battery I got 2 days ago still has the exact same problem. I've read something about save mode and I booted it in save mode and the phone didnt get hot (not even warm!) with 20min SOT browsing (had no time to test it more). But the only apps that I have installed are Spotify, Firefox, WhatsApp and the Blizzard Auth.
Now i tested using a calibrate battery app (my phone isnt rooted but the app said it worked) and now im charging it up to 100% again to test it. But I dont think it worked.
Anyone here with more ideas I could try?
One full wipe and install stock rom .
Charge battery and test over two weeks .
Calibration app NO thats fake it does not and cannot calibrate a battery ( see multiple posts )
Its just the usual battery question and a search answers your question .
How long have you been using that battery? Get a new battery and your problem is solved.
I had similar problems with battery charging to 100% and suddenly going down to 50% and suddenly switching off. Changed battery and all was well again.

I just bought a new battery. TBH it defenetly cant be a good one for that cheap price. But I just flashed back to Stock Rom. With the old battery same problem, but with the new one it works good so far. nearly all bugs that came up the last few month are gone. While setting it up, the phone got really hot (it had to work pritty hard i guess to update everything). This is why JJEgan mentioned to use it for atleast a week i guess.
But an important question: is it possible to flash back to a new version again after like a week? Or am i now forced to use this stone age version of Android. (I guess all samsung apps can be removed if i decied to root the phone)
