Make sure to flash the NC2 Kernel located in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787627
I had the same problem with my backup of Hyperdrive 8. I flashed that kernel and it booted without further issues.
Just to clarify the steps:
Boot into recovery with SS app
Factory reset
Flash ROM
Reboot into download mode
Use Odin to flash the NC2 kernel
If you properly follow the instructions for flashing your specific ROM of choice, and add in the last two steps, you should be fine.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
My issue is that every time I try to install this rom it always fails on me and I'm stuck in the factory recovery option(the little android with its guts open)
My S5 is on the ANE9 version currently. I have safestrap 3.75 installed. I have the SlyHyde rom installed on the stock slot.
I do the fact wipe, i flash the rom, and then i Odin the NE9 firmware tar(and yes not the full stock one). after that when phone resets i get the stock recovery again. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP WITH THIS!!!!!

So after flashing SH R11-1 via safestrap, and you reboot, it takes you to the stock recovery? It shouldn't... Since you've flashed the NE9 firmware once already.. what happens if you just flash SH via safestrap then reboot immediately?

Mr. Hyde, thank you for personally helping me.
Well after failing multiple times doing it the ways directed
On the forum I decided to just do what you just asked and the same thing happens, it keeps sending me to the stock recovery . I installed another rom, the odex one and that took it just fine.

No problem! Always glad to help.
Strange... Well now that you were able to boot into the system with another ROM, try flashing SH again (without flashing NE9 firmware. Once you are on a firmware, you don't have to flash it again. :good: ). Wipe data/factory reset, flash SH, and reboot immediately.
all.
I have an i9505 on 3 UK that has been rooted for over 6 months. I've been running the excellent TW based Echo Rom but wanted to try an ASOP rom but quickly wanted to revert.
I tried to restore my Nandroid but this failed and screwed up the phone (dont ask)so back to ODIN and i flashed back to stock 4.4.2 firmware for the UK via Sammobile (NG8)
Now back to square 1 so attempted to reroot with CF Autoroot again via ODIN. all show pass and i get the black screen on the phone with the red android logo and line stating stock recovery restored. I then used ODIN to flash Philz recovery again shown as Pass, however when i try to get into recovery i get some small white text on the bkack background that is there too briefly to read before the phone reboots as normal.
The Su superuser app is there but states the Su binary is outdated and the phone has no root access.
Ive read a few methods to get round this but they all seem to follow the same process ive tried a few times now.
The Rom for Echoe is auto root so id have thought if i could get to recovery somehow i could just flash this ?
Any one any views or have i screwed up for good ? .
You will be fine.
If you want to flash a custom rom anyway the shortest way would be to just flash the custom recovery. You don't need root for that.
Uncheck auto-reboot before you flash the recovery and it should work.

so i reflashed Philz recovery and unchecked auto reboot. This then gives me PASS in ODIN. I guess then i unplug and try and activate recovery - but still nothing...it just boots up normally ?

What is the model descriped when you are in download mode?
What is the exact version of Philz you are trying to flash?

GTI9505...(Bootloader i9505xxegng8)
Originally I tried philz_touch_5.15.8-i9505.tar.md5
and then updated to philz_touch_6.23.9-i9505.tar.md5 with no avail.
Try redownloading it. If you say that if passes, then it should just work.
If it still fails then try TWRP. Uncheck auto-reboot before flashing.
Could it be connected to me flashing a generic unlocked UK firmware on a 3 UK handset ?
That's sorted it ! Flashed CWM recovery and am now running Echoes v28.
Thanks for the help. I was really panicking for a while.
I wont be changing roms for a while but I guess if I did I won't lose root ?
At the moment have stock 5.0.1 rom for SM-N910F.
have rooted and installed twrp through odin but every time I try and install a custom rom, it installs but it bootloop. And I mean every rom. Tried installing twrp through flashify and as a zip file and both of those won't boot the phone up at all. It will just go straight to download mode.
I am fresh out of ideas and any help would be appreciated.
I have been flashing for years so I know the steps to successfully flash custom roms but I have never faced this before.
you sure you got the right version for your phone, seems like a compatibility issue with your recovery/bootloader.
