AT&T H1010g Software Update - G4 General

I got this update just a bit ago, does anyone know what it is? So far my screen SEEMS to be more responsive as before I had a lot of touches go unrecognized. Time will tell.

confirmed. I just got mine.

Search my friend.. I already had a thread going on this.

I did search, even searched google and not a single thing came up about it. I searched by the software version though. I see your post now though.

Brand new market app?

Looks like the android market got updated? Anyone else get updated also?
Nope I think you are the only one. Post your experiences please.
its weird to describe, you can scroll vertically on top thru a list of new apps
when you click on a app everything is all on one page now, updates pics and comments
its listed as my apps now
Holy crap that's awesome. You should go buy some lottery tickets as you may be the luckiest person to walk the earth, being hand selected by Google to try this new market out.
trolling is very hard to do on forums isn't it?
Then again you must be mad at life to actually post like you do haha
i searched but didn't find nothing about a new market
maybe you will get a few dropbox referrals from commenting on my thread?
LOL
Thanks for posting, I still haven't got the market update...

new app market look and feel
Hey I have it on my evo 4g too. I opened up it up while helping a friend root his fascinate phone and saw the change. Did it come as some type of download?
Ya im guessing, looks better if you ask me. The update all seems to be working better
Gingerbread roms right around the corner, alot of updates coming out haha
There is a GAPPS update posted in the N1 forum that has it, it comes with some extra junk including ROM manager in the sys/app folder and a few N1 updates but it flashed and works fine on my Evo.
Edit: Just found this posted a few threads down. New Market Update

[Q] stopping EL30 OTA update & reminder

I am running cleanGB 1.0.3.
How to I eliminate the notification to update to EL30? My phone wants to do an OTA update.
I feel stupid, but I don't see where to disable this.
1. try to let it install. the phone will reboot with an error.
2. at that point pull the battery, put it back in and restart the phone.
you should not get prompted again.
Also read one of the other 10 threads instead of starting a new one. Thanks.

Had I found such a thread searching EL30, I would not have started a new thread. Obviously that was not the magic word.
I did find a lot of other useful information.

There are 4 right on the top page of General and 2 on the top page of Q&A. If you just open XDA and look you will see. Thanks.
oops. I was searching the entire forum and came up w/ too much info.
Should have looked in the obvious place first! My bad.

AH! That explains it. That search sucks. Pretty much all hot topics are usually in the first 10-15 threads in General. Then it leaks a little over to Q&A. I came home a little grouchy from work, sorry.

Triangle away and "custom" unlock icon at boot

Hey guys just got my s4 this morning and rooted it a little while ago with the motochopper root method... everything went smooth but for some reason I did get the custom unlock icon at boot.. I was going to use triangke away 2.90 but its says in there: counter: 0
Binary: official
Device: i337
That being said I don't want to mess it up worse using triangle away since the app says everything is ok
Thanks in advance for your help

This issue has been brought up many times. Please use the forum search function to find the posts about it. The information in those posts will be far more useful to you than anything that will be posted here. Good luck.

Task helped me out and I try not to post useless questions but I did search through the xda app and google using the term "s4 custom unlocked after root" and some other variations and all I got from both is about the bootloader nothing close to the question I had. I appreciate you trying to keep the forums manageable just putting it out there ive been around the forums a while and know how frustrating it can get. . I also looked at tge post task pointed me to before I posted my question but nobody had answered it yet

That screen means nothing, in fact if everyone has not figured it out yet, IT IS A SAMSUNG BULLSH$$ splash screen. When you flash your first rom, that will be replaced by another splash screen. And everyone has asked the same question, if it were me, I would have went back to the thread were I got the instructions to do whatever, and the fix has been mentioned there, for all new people, if you are in a thread, and try something in that thread, GO BACK THERE, chances are your solution is there. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! I am so bored I can not hold back answering some of these....
I think it might be time to start stickying some of the more popular threads so they are more visible. Threads with How tos, tutorials, Root methods, etc...Of course, this won't solve the problem of people not looking or searching before they ask the same old questions(which is 99% of the time), but it might help in cases like this when the OP attempted a search using the XDA app (which may or may not be very accurate at searches) and still didn't find what they were looking for. However, it is just a suggestion.

no one is pissed off at you..how long was your question there? i have posted and waited for an answer..and believe me..while you are looking around waiting for a reply..you will most likely find your solution before you see your message answered. Look in ALL the S4 threads and you see a solution. just because you have an att, doesn't mean you can't snoop around and absorb some the knowledge...there are alot of good users here...some have been here for years...so my advice would be read what they are talking about.. if you noobs are serious about modding and such..reading would be your best friend.

I know nobody was pissed and I wasnt trying to come off as sarcastic or angry.. ive been rooting and such since my first moto droid on Verizon.. I repair phones on the side .. I knew what the custom icon meant.. what I should have conveyed better was since the triangle away app said everything was ok with phone if I were to use it would I end up with a brick... it just happened to work out that tasks answer to the other members question about what the icon meant or why he would have gotten that icon in the first place and answered mine as well.. well an alternative to what I was going to use triangle away for... I only responded to scott to put out there that I did search via google and the xda app and couldnt find anything exceot info about the locked bootloader and similar posts regarding the s3 and the custom icon.. ive been here a number of years and with a whole array of devices and I know it can be frustrating answering the same question over and over or digging through the same question over and over to find the right answer...
I didnt take as he was pissed... I didnt intend to come back as sounding pissed and I apologize if thats the way it was taken

Funny thing is I had actually searched the forum and "looked" around before creating the thread. Hence my reply was as such above, it's the way he assumed I simply opened a thread without searching, with the air of arrogance which made me think of the nose-in-the-air royalty that walk around these days.

Don't use the general search bar at the top of the forum. Go to the overall Verizon Galaxy S5 forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5
and use the search bar located along the right side of the screen that reads, "Search this forum." I used that search bar and got links to the threads linked below in my search results. Reading just a page or two at the end of any of these threads would have given you the answer you were looking for so you wouldn't have needed to start a whole new thread asking a question that has been asked and answered an inordinate number of times:

Quick question, (which I'm sure has not been asked. - before I get slaughtered by the xda police) can I flash the G900VVRU2BOE1 on my BOG5 phone. Basically can I stall G900VVRU2BOE1 firmware using Odin instead of BOG5 firmware on my S5?

From what I have read, you cannot. Both the BOE1 and BOG5 firmwares do not allow any kind of downgrading.

New Exploit Found That Could Root V20

Hey guys. I was browsing the forums when I cam across this post by XDA about an old Linux kernel dubbed "Dirty Cow" that can apparently root almost any Android device.
http://www.xda-developers.com/9-yea...-dirty-cow-can-root-every-version-of-android/
Anyone willing to give this a shot on the V20!?
Already being discussed in the Roms thread homeslice

Others are right, I saw this being discussed as a potential option already, with some modification.
