Hello,
i use S5 SM G900F with Lollipop 5.0 (BOD3)
I recently managed to delete all my pictures out of my gallery by a mistake. I use a software to synchronize the dcim/camera directory with a hard disk at home. so i was able to restore the photos back in the camerafolder. Now i see many blank thumbnails in the category tabs (scenes, events, persons etc.). i am not able to delete them. I rebooted serveral times and waited for the card scanner to do his work but the problem still exist. the restored pictures did not even been added to the categories!
So i decided to use app manager to delete data of the gallery app (and camera app). But after restart the problem still exist!
What do you think i have to do to start over with gallery again?
thanks in advance...
I solved the symptoms of my problem. I moved some photos to a categorie with empty thumbnails, removed them again and the empty thumbnails were deleted too.
I still not sure how to remove all data from gallery database but for now my problem is gone.

Hi, just got a new S4. Transferred by Whatsapp backup files from my S2 to the S4 device memory and installed Whatsapp. Clicked Ok when prompted if I wish to restore chat history. However, after the restore was completed, Whatsapp stopped working and the chat history was missing, together with the back up files.
Anyone encounter something similar and managed to restore successfully? Thanks!
I managed a restore without any issues....rather than just copying the backup files...copt the entire whatsapp folder to your phone memory and freshly install whatsapp and try restoring...I'm sure it will work
Hi sadeshmagic, thanks for responding. That was exactly what I did. I copied the whole Whatsapp folder (including sub-folders) and pasted onto the device storage. During setup, Whatsapp did recognise that there is an existing database and prompted if I wish to restore it, which I did. However, 2 seconds after restore is completed, Whatsapp stopped working. When I access Whatsapp, there are no old chats.
Tried going back to my S2 and making backups again then copy the Whatsapp folder to the S4, but the same thing keeps happening.
Hello there
My device is GT-I9500 and i used to hide some personal pictures using gallery and no other application ..
the problem is that I didn't back up most of my marriage photos and just kept it hidden, and somehow I accidentally deleted all of it.
I tried a recovery app called diskdigger, it helped on recovering only 3 pictures that were hidden and the rest were old pictures.
Please help me recover my pictures they worth a lot to me :cyclops:
Help, anyone ?
A friend took a picture and decided to try and delete it. When he accessed the gallery app where the folders are shown (the pic he took was the thumbnail of the folder), he deleted the whole folder. Is there any way to retrieve deleted photos? I tried a google search but all of the programs i found such as Dr. Fone etc all require me to purchase the software itself. Is there any way i can retrieve these photos? My Samsung device is not rooted and i haven't ever used the google+ apps and so when i access my gmails etc the photos aren't in the bin. I had about 300+ very important photos

No it's impossible unless you are still running Android 4.2.2.
Every information about recovering files is outdated and cannot be used anymore.

I am running android 4.4.2, seeing as this is still kitkat is it possible on this version? Why or why not?
I don't know if they can be recovered if they were on the internal memory.

Because Android enabled Trim from 4.3+ and up.
Wow that sucks. Is there no way i can restore these pics and vids?
Edit: YAY i recovered the pictures by using the google play app "Diskdigger photo recover" app it's the only thing that worked after trying countless of countless of programs on my computer. Anyways the videos that have been recovered have turned into image files. Is there any way to convert them back to the videos they once were?

did you try to wipe *everything* related to you old WhatsApp installation?
Move backup to secure location. (I didn't have backup in the cloud) Go to settings - apps - whatsapp - delete cache- delete data - uninstall - delete whatsapp folder.
I also ran SD Maid Pro to clean my phone up. My SD Maid has a lot of permissions. (Settings - corpse finder - almost all categories are checked). Also you could go to TWRP and clear cache there.
After you are sure that all WhatsApp leftovers are gone, install Whatsapp again. Move backup to its folder and run the app.
It should work. I hope. Worked for me with similar issue.
If that doesn't do the trick, I'm out of ideas.
Hi, in stock gallery app from LG, i locked some photos. I forgot pin and want a new one. I deleted that locked (.dm) files and cleared Gallery cache and data. After opening Galerry and locking files, it still need that old password.
Is possible to change/remove that lock, without factory reset?
Use a file manager to access the photos or another gallery app. (Until you can find out password)
