[Q] Skool me on modems... - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In the past i have had rooted phones with different roms. And after 6months or so i would start dropping calls very consistantly. Since i wouldnt keep up with updating the phone or anything really(i would just root and rom te phone and leave it) was this due to an outdated modem???
I love the s5 and reception was awesome on stock lollipop but im wondering, if i dont stay on top of things will i run into similar issues?
Or am i way off base?
Im on 4.4.2 with Alliance rom build 2..

[Warranty] Should I upgrade to 4.3?

Okay, so I just got my (i9500) device and binary status back to official after rooting my phone, dual booting, using various modules etc. in expectations that 4.3 is going to be released officially in the next 3-4 days.
Now, it seems like 4.3 firmwares come with a Knox-like feature called Warranty Bit.
My question is :
Is it worth upgrading to 4.3 at the risk of losing your Warranty forever (because face it, I am going to root it and flash things)?
I couldn't care less abt the new features, I'll be switching over to an AOSP ROM when a stable one comes out.
At 4.2.2, there's an almost complete possibility for me to revert to Official status IF anything goes wrong, but at 4.3 there's no chance at all.
thanks!
Bump.
Anyone?
For being honest with you and make it clear you dont have warrantly avoid if you do the update in 4.3 official (rom stock si).
If juste BEFORE you have erased your foot of course ans also custom recovery etc.
But if you try to root jour s4 AFTER doing the update THERE you woxnt have warrantly anymore !.
For make simple there you dont risks the risks is the following One if you do that and dont want to lose forever you warrantly you will be obliger to not FLASHING LR lther anymlre.
Personnaly i suggest you to pût a custom rom bases on the stock ondes...as Echoes the best i know.
I am on Android 4.3 actually with the MJ5 MoDem it s perfect ! Much berger chan the official ans i have not lose m'y Warta t'y..because the KNOW had ben removed in the rom...
Si in wlrse case i will juste have to Côme back to official statut.
Clipboard crashes 4.3?
I thought of updating to 4.3 myself but I noticed there were some concerns in Clipboard apps in Google Play about a bug in the 4.3 clipboad causing crashes.
From what I've heard I would actually wait till the next version comes out lol, I've heard things like battery temperature raises, camera faults etc... I' dont have a S4 yet but I've been doing a bit of research on them since I'm likely to buy one hopefully its not on the 4.3 version xD . But that's my opinion anyway
Even Iam thinking not moving from 4.2.2 on my s4.

If you have flashed custom firmware on your Samsung and installed the new KNOX bootloader, your warranty will be completely void.

Need some advices please.

Upgrading from Custom to Stock

Hello everyone.
I've just installed Sweet ROM V4 MJ7 and I wanna update to Stock 4.4
So its rooted and CWM is installed.
Here's my question...
Should I just put 4.4 stock to Odin and install or should I do sth else?
I know, this question could be so frustrating for someone but it's my first NOTE and i dont wanna mess it.
Also, is it worth to update from 4.3 to 4.4.2 (N9005XXUGNG1)
Im afraid of this knox 2.0
Thanks for help.
Yes..it is the way it should be using odin to install stock firmware. This is gonna be fine bcoz u are going to 4.4.2 unless you are downgrading which is too dangerous.
Just tell me my friend now if it is worth to upgrade to 4.4.2?
For my personal prefence, I like to be up to date all the time. So I would stay with latest update. But some people prefer to stay with 4.3 bcoz of better battery life or other wifi issues. But all bugs have been fixed in these days. So I guess the main reason to stay with 4.3 is just bcoz of battery life. I cant tell exactly how much difference of battery since I just upgraded to 4.4.2 as soon as I got this. So I cant notice 4.3 that much in less than a day. ?? go for it. What is bothering you! You are holding Note 3 and life isnt worth if u don't stay up to date.

[Q] Switched back to touchwiz from cyanogenmod - radios arent working - advice?

Hi all,
I've switched back to Touchwiz for the camera after having cyanogenmod on the phone.
Now it seems like a catastrophe - WIFI won't work with some roms (specifically touchwiz, and now touchwiz wont even boot) while making and receiving calls and texts won't work with lolipop or with cyanogenmod.
I've wiped totally in recovery before installing anything to ensure no issues, but I am at my wits end, about to buy an iPhone tomorrow because I need a reliable phone for business.
Any advice on what I might do? I have the I337M version (rogers)

If all else fails, Odin back to stock.
Give the lollipop Google play edition rom a try, it's been rock solid for me and many others. I will say that for whatever reason, I was never able to get WiFi working in the hyperdrive rom (since rls19) I tried changing modems and what not, but switching to a different rom worked workout issue. Try golden eye rom or one of the others from iB.

Which lolipop rom do you use, might you have a link? L is gorgeous
Will try other ROMS. I've attempted to ODIN back to 4.2.2 but wifi is not working even with clean wipe.

[Q] Can I wipe an unrooted stock 4.4.4 rom and flash any custom 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 rom?

Hi. I apologize in advance if this thread is a duplicate and if my post is long. I didn't see one quite like this when searching, and given the walled off nature of Verizon's 4.4.4 update and my semi-light understanding of android customization, I didn't want to do something drastic to my phone and screw it up.
I have a SM-N900V. I was rooted and life was great until I installed Verizon's 4.4.4 update (N900VVRUDNK1) without reading that this thing hadn't been rooted yet and is majorly walled off. I assumed since 4.4.4 on AT&T and Sprint had been rooted, Verizon would be as well. Lately my phone has been freezing multiple times while texting, screwing up my texts by inserting random letters and words because of the lag, deleting the wallpaper after disconnecting from a bluetooth device, and other annoying things. And I miss all the benefits of rooting. Since the update came out in December, it doesn't look like any progress has been made on a root and maybe won't be.
My question is, can I wipe my phone (I realize all data will be erased) with this factory, unrooted 4.4.4 rom and flash it with a rooted 4.4.2 or rooted 4.4.4 rom? Also, do I need a Verizon specific rom or can I do a custom? While I have a Verizon phone, I use Straight Talk rather and have an AT&T sim in the phone. I don't know if that matters.
Thanks in advance!
