Just coming off a Moto X, so near stock, and I like how double tapping a notification directly launches you into the app if unlocked (say connected to a trusted device). With the Note 4 it prompts you to do an additional swipe gesture which is annoying and unnecessary. Is this just a life with TouchWiz problem, or is there a way to solve this?

I can't believe a developer hasn't created this yet.
I love the desktop lock feature of adw launcher. But my 4 year old will still accidentally pull down the notification panel and change settings.
So there has to be a way to add an in-memory app that prevents the panel from being pulled down.
I still want to be able to see the status bar, but just not be able to pull down the panel.
I know it's possible because I have widgetlocker and it prevents it from the lock screen.
Please put your development skills to the test!
I am stock; not rooted; and have both ICS Droid 4g, and GB Incredible 2.
Try GMD Gesture Control. With a gesture or on an app-active basis you can hide the notification bar, which in this case prevents the drawer from being opened. You still get an auditory notification, and if you're near another gadget, there are ways to get notified via browser, a backup phone, tablet, and in not too long, TVs & watches, too.
So glad to *not* hear "you" sent your boss a "drunken" nonsense text! It was the coloring apps combined with the incomparable, phone-endangering frustration (not mine) that got me to spend the $5.
adw launcher can already hide the status bar, thus locking the notification panel. But I want an app that let's me see the status bar but locks the panel (just like widgetlocker lockscreen does).
Any dev out there that can make this for me?
I'm on the latest RR, 5.3.8. Finger print function works, but there's no addition settings available to do other things once the phone is unlocked (gravitybox added some additional functionality, but no xposed in 7).
I've tried several apps that let you configure additional functions to the finger print once unlocked. The entry i'm using is 'toggle notifications'. This works, but seems to add significant lag when unlocking the phone, requiring at least 2 taps to unlock.
Any thoughts or suggestions for achieving this? Ideally it'd be nice to do a slow double tap - first to unlock, second to toggle the notification without having to move my finger from the back to the front.
hello try to download the NExt lockscreen in Play store..work wonders for me...
Is this app similar to widget locker from years past?
I don't know if I want a full blown lock screen replacement. When I did have widgetlocker instsalled, i used the same apps as were on the home screen. Layout was very similar. Really all I want to do is use the fingerprint reader as another button. It's far more convenient to tap it once unlocked than to move fingers to the front of the phone to swipe the status bar down.

Before android 7 on lock screen we could swipe on a notification, tap the app we want to open and it opens that app
Since android 7, we have to swipe on a notification, tap the app, SWIPE AGAIN, only then it opens the app. Who came up with this nonsense?
Is there a way disable this bs and go back to previous method?
P.S.
Is this Nougat feature or Samsung exclusive?
I just noticed that the Apps Lock feature of the Overview mode that is SUPPOSED to be a standard feature is MISSING. Is there a special method to turn it on?
Are there OTHER standard features that are also missing?
Hopefully Oreo will be FULL featured!
That is not a stock android feature so it will probably not appear in Oreo.
It is SUPPOSED to be a stock feature
The stock feature that I am not seeing is the Battery indicator for Bluetooth devices connected.

Do Nexus or Pixels have it? I don't know if I'm understanding what you mean about app lock. Is it locking an app so it is not cleared from recents?
Yes press the hollow square key that displays recents or as they call it now overview. The upper right hand corner should have an X and just to the left a lock / unlock symbol. Apps locked never disappear from the list even after a reboot. BTW, a neat feature is to double tap the overview button. It will toggle between the last two screens you have been viewing!
Yeah that feature is not in AOSP neither in pixel/nexus software.
Oops it seems I was misled.
Sorry
I moved from iphone x recently, have few questions about notifications on 0p6t
1.Is there any way to group notification s on lockscreen as well as panel by app.
2. I have turned off ambient display and wake up phone to unlock by face id, on iphone when it is locked you get notification without showing the content, but when you look at it and unlock, the notification will expand and show the content on the lockscreen, any way to get this on 0p6t
3. When ever I try to reply from lockscreen, after it recognises my face and unlocks, it takes me to home screen and there I can reply, is there any way to reply directly from lockscreen.
Thanks.

1. Notifications are already grouped by app even on lock screen. Android starts grouping only after certain number of notifications
2. Not exactly, but Android has similar as well. You can change setting Apps & Notifications - Notifications - On the lockscreen to Hide sensitive content. Not as polished as iPhone x, but it works..
3. You can turn off Auto unlock once the screen is on setting under Settings - Security and Lock screen - Face Unlock

1.Okay
2. I have that setting but when ever it unlocks and I pull down from that notification to show content and reply...it takes me to homescreen and then shows the content. Not on ths lockscreen itself
3.I have already turned it off.
Thanks.
