Fingerprint reader to unlock & display notifications - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I'm on the latest RR, 5.3.8. Finger print function works, but there's no addition settings available to do other things once the phone is unlocked (gravitybox added some additional functionality, but no xposed in 7).
I've tried several apps that let you configure additional functions to the finger print once unlocked. The entry i'm using is 'toggle notifications'. This works, but seems to add significant lag when unlocking the phone, requiring at least 2 taps to unlock.
Any thoughts or suggestions for achieving this? Ideally it'd be nice to do a slow double tap - first to unlock, second to toggle the notification without having to move my finger from the back to the front.

hello try to download the NExt lockscreen in Play store..work wonders for me...

Is this app similar to widget locker from years past?
I don't know if I want a full blown lock screen replacement. When I did have widgetlocker instsalled, i used the same apps as were on the home screen. Layout was very similar. Really all I want to do is use the fingerprint reader as another button. It's far more convenient to tap it once unlocked than to move fingers to the front of the phone to swipe the status bar down.

Swipe the clock widget to the right, then swipe back to the clock/unlock screen. Then you will be able to long-press on the clock and remove it. Then you'll see 'tap to add widgets' and you can choose the calendar.
Yeah, Ive tried that, It just does this lol.
Try it without Knock Code (with swipe).
Yip, Tried that ... Same thing ..
Trying to work out what the arrow at the bottom is for, it dont see to do anything.
I never even used to have the knock knock cope option, I updated my phone via the support tool, I have the knock know code but cant change the lock screen widget. I mean even when im on the lock screen i used to be able to swipe right to start the camera and now i cant even do that.
I'm thinking something has been changed in the update, Can anybody on the same build as me confirm they can still swipe from the lock screen to start the camera app and change lock screen widgets? ... Its definitely different than before.
Try using swipe lock screen and lock your device. Then wake the device. Swipe down on the clock. Then press and hold the widget. You should then have the ability to remove it. If you have no other lock screen widget, you will end up with a huge + giving you the option to add another widget. If this doesn't work (it should), reboot and try again.

It wont budge, Before if i had a pin code at the lock screen set i could just swipe the pin code area down, It then ask me for my pin, I could then long press the clock and a option to "remove" would be at the top of my screen, When the widget area was blank i would see a large + sigh, I could tap this and be given a number of widgets i could put there!
The clock just wont budge now no matter what i try!
Same Deal Here
Ever since the update, it seems I can't remove the default clock widget either. Swiping down does bring up the arrow (just as it used to) but it won't stay on long enough to long press the clock (as soon as you take your finger off it goes back to normal). I'm going to do some experimenting with WidgetLocker, see if I can't get it back to where I want it (obviously figuring this out would be ideal, but I'm starting to wonder if it's possible anymore. I've seen articles about enabling widgets, but haven't found what they're telling me to look for).
Edit: Got it figured out. It turns out I had somehow turned off the lockscreen widgets & disabled the feature through Secure Settings.

Don't know if you've been back to this thread but changing Secure Settings settings worked for me.

Lock screen replacement?

Here's the thing, I hate EMUI lock screens, magazine works but its notifications are useless, as I can't expand them, and have to unlock the phone to see them in detail, so, useless. I've tried a few replacements so far, ZUI, Echo and at times, Hilocker, don't work, as I have to swipe two lockscreens and that sucks too; Acdisplay which I loved on my previous phone doesn't even launch, so far only Microsoft's Picturesque and Next work really well, but picturesque has the same notification problem and Next seems to drain battery like there's no tomorrow. Can any of you recommend a working lock screen? With expandable notifications and preferably shortcuts, or do I have to sacrifice my battery life for a working lock screen?
Try Next Lock screen from microsoft:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...microsoft.next
edit: so you already tried next , it's the only lockscreen that can compare to stock
There are many lockscreen app on play store but they consume battery too much. By the way you can disable emui magazine unlock screen in developer options so you don't have to unlock twice.
There is one more option. Why don't you try a third party notifications app like: floatify and headsup.

Nav Bar Gestures

Will you be using the new features that eliminate the nav buttons? although you loose the long press options on nav bar
why not
I like the new feature, but I badly miss the menu function (long press} of old navbar, OnePlus should add this function as additional gesture
I liked it, but it's a bit bare now and needs a few preferences to suit everyone.
I admit I was skeptical at first about the swipe navigation posts earlier, but I now can see the benefits.
it's great except for Back not being responsive enough, Home is good
Yes I'd love to replace my Xposed Edge + GMD Gestures combo with a stock feature, but only if we are able to customise the duration of the animations / duration of long press, and if we can enable and disable individual gestures independently. Because the back gestures are wacky, the other ones are good except for the sluggish animations.
Very nice this gestures but have some little bugs:
1. Back gesture not work very good.
2. Can't start Google assistant (long press home button ???) - partial resolve by: "OK Google" or Nova Launcher
3. Same situation on Recent and back button (long press actions) bye bye
The back gesture is not fast enough.
However, gestures are interruptive and fun to use.
I still would love to have the disappearing nav-bar with a simple toggle to bring it up and take it down.
If there was an option to go back to last app with no waiting time it would have been great. For now I will switch to stable or different rom.
I would definitely prefer the back gestures as is on iPhone or Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 (Maybe more models too), just sliding from the left side of the screen or right side of the screen. It is a way easier and more reliable than now.
I like a lot the new gestures feature, like someone said in the previous responses, some customization for the gestures will be greatly appreciated.
No because I use a very similar just MUCH more cutomisable method with better results.
I disabled Nav bar using jOneplustools app via new quick settings option and use this app instead. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ation&hl=en_GB
called: Swipe Navigation
FULLY customisable long press actions and sensitivity. Compatible with most roms and quick and easy to set up.

Lock button in navigation bar?

My previous phone was a HTC One (M8) and the HTC software gave me the option to add a lock button in the navigation bar. I've grown very used to having one right there and I miss it this handy feature with my new LG G6, particularly because the hardware lock button is less accessible.
Is there an easy way of doing this without rooting and going the ROM root? I've tried installing the SystemUI Tuner but it does not have an option to add a new button to the navigation bar.
For what you need exactly, i think is hard.
But why do you need it? Just double tap in the status/notifications bar. Also, in Home and if using a custom laucher, double tap also should work.
For now just using knock on and knock on and off by double tapping status bar is what I do.
Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize you can knock the status bar to lock.
It's definitely a good temporary measure that I'll be using for now. Unfortunately, my hands can't comfortably reach the status bar to knock it, so I'll still be on the look out for a way to add a lock button to the navigation bar.

Question about gestures

Hi guys,
I have a Pixel 3 and really like One Plus gestures as you can use the phone without nav bar and get more screen state.
I have been trying some apps but I have a question and would like to know if it is the stock behavior.
Apps I have been trying are:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivianuu.oneplusgestures
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.nobar
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid&hl=en_US
I think they all work fine, but they all have a "activation area" which is just a bar (around 60px height) in the botton of the screen, where the gestures are detected.
But I cannot click anything under that area, I mean if there is something "under" that small area I have to swipe so it goes up and I can click it.
Is that behavior normal in the one plus? I dont think so.
Best regards
I just checked on the native gesture behavior and as far as I can tell, there is no reserved activation area for the OP6T gestures and anything around the bottom-most part of the screen can still be tapped. Each requires the swipe to actually activate.
