return to g2 2.2 forever :( - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

after trying all ll rom that exists, I have not found one that does not bug either overheating or battery problems ... I think back to the most stable I've ever install cloudyg2 2.2 forever

Did you tried the g3 rom from optimus? With dorimanx kernel?

You could try cloudyg3.1 with latest dorimanx kernel. Works fine for me else you could always try an stock debloated rom with dorimanx.

@wulsic thank you very much for your comments, I wonder why people are so excited to update their phone for a version that provides only bugs and nothing new really :-\ sorry for my English

No problem well I as an old nexus user was also always very excited for a new OS update because the changes are just massive which not all users notice under the hood and that's why I am always excited for that. The thing is that every new piece of software comes with it own bugs. Never in my entire life I have seen software without any bugs. But that's life.

i'm on a vs980 and I agree cloudy 2.2 is fabulous. Recently I started using cloudy 3.1 and (atleast on my device) its been equally as stable/fast and battery friendly. I like the g4 dial app, but aside from that i could just as easily stick with cloudy 2.2.

Wonder when there'll be Android 4.0 for the LG GT540. Will it be even compatible?

I know, and that is why I ask about Froyo ROMs..
Well, if you just want a stock looking, fast ROM, then go for AOSP, but if you want more themes, and other mods then go for Utopia.
I'm staying on Utopia.. and I will make MIUI theme for it when I get my phone back..

Works fine for me, try flashing gapps. Download this, put it on the SDCard and flash it using Clockwork Recovery.
Utopia anytime, miroslav_mm is working really hard on it. It's a lot more 'complete' than AOSP

Oops! I completely forgot my signature. As I'm always between ROMs! Thanks for pointing out!!
HAHAHAA
Utopia was my favorite until the RC3 version came out. I had a lot of trouble trying to make Link2SD work (I experimented with different versions of Busybox and finally I got it to recognize the second partition) but today I had another problem with WiFi, which suddenly stopped seeing my WPA2 home network. I had to go back to my previous version, where everything works...
I'm really intrigued about Utopia. I've read that it's fast yet it doesn't eat up battery like other roms. I'm just wondering how do I upgrade to that. I currently have stock eclair and somewhat of a noob when it comes to rom upgrading. Thanks

You could flash a Fastboot ROM vis KDZ. It could be one of the many ways.

most stable ROM?

Okay everyone.. Its February 2014 and we have been into kk Roms for about 3 months or so on the g2.. Which one seems most stable... And with which kernel is it stable.. I have flashed every single ROM known to the g2 and every single one freezes at one point and reboots.. To me the Mahdi ROM with paek seems the best but I want your input community... So let it rip!??

Freezes and reboots are long gone for me. Basically every room I tried if stable. They all lack gps and they all (obviously) try to force me into using Chrome but they're stable. If no rom is stable for you, either you're doing something wrong or your phone doesn't work.

Opposite for me. GPS works on all of them and most have the basic android browser..

I 2nd this. AOSP on the G2 is somewhat pointless as stock has everything and more than AOSP....and it WORKS.

AOSP has more eye candy, but you're right. The stock ROM w/ Xposed is hard to beat.
You meant the most stable CUSTOM firmware? Trying to promote this custom ROM is better or more stable than other custom ROM is prohibited in this XDA I believe.
As for most stable ROM, stay with the ROM built and released by LG.
I had the best luck with the unofficial CM build, but even that had random reboots from time to time and all the bluetooth issues.

Helping My Mom with her LG L7

Hey guys, so I noticed my moms phone after 2 years got really laggy and I didn't like it, I'm experienced with rooting and flashing but its better to ask help from you guys.
First of all her phone is a LG Optimus L7 (Not II)
The baseband is 10e, I read that JB is 20e(?)
Heres a summary of what I need to do:
-Flash JB (20e?)(Can you provide a link?
-Root
-Flash a Custom ROM
About the Custom ROM, if you guys could provide your own opinion, for daily use only, and if possible, the latest OS, Kitkat.
Many thanks guys. )

For kitkat:
I'm using carbon rom, but also recommend cm11 from @cr3pt it's really stable for daily use.
Just read the last 3 pages in users comments die feedback.

My recommendation, don't use latest Android, yet. Because stability problem and speed problem, too
Use something stabler, like CM10 (Jellybean). So, you don't have to upgrade to v20 to flash it.

Yup your right, but he's asking for kk.
If you want to stick with cm10, flash slimbean with phenom kernel.
This is really good.

Using Lighting V5, but i'm looking for new ROM. (Not Cloudy, Cloudy makes me crazy, it have some scroll bug.)

What is the most Stable ROM?

I'm coming back to the G2 and have to admit...I'm a little rusty with Root/ROMS etc.
What would you guys recommend as the most stable ROM to use for a daily driver?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can provide!

Soon as my replacement G2 gets here I'll check it out!
Confirmed. Cloudy with Dorimanx. No reboots, no freezes. (I really know it because I'm running Macrodroid which shows every reboot in the notification bar.)
Guess this can sum up what you guys have already been saying

Cloudy G2 KK is the best ROM but low android version, Cloudy Lollipop is second best but newer android version, Cloudy Lollipop with Dorimanx Kernel is best.
Also Good ROM = Ressurection Remix but all this other ROM's which not stock got **** camera, sound and Battery life.
