Hi everyone,
Can't really find this question anywhere, maybe I haven't looked hard enough.
Basically I have managed to use a video capture card combined with a OTG cable to use my Samsung as a monitor for my games.
My question is, do you think there is any possible way reverse the way a MHL cable works and use it to actually receive video data instead of send it?
See video attached of my video capture working on my android. It's pretty cool!

(^^^ can somebody please attach this video as I do not have enough posts to attach links)
Thanks!

Probably not possible... There is a reason a monitor is the input device and the phone is output.
It would probably be easier to figure out how to do it wirelessly such as through WiFi Direct as then you have Software obstacles not hardware.

Want to set up ADB on your computer and dont know how or are having problems, here is a video to walk you thru setting it up and getting the right drivers for your device, follow the video:
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/06/how-to-set-up-adb-usb-drivers-for-android-devices/
Credit for the video goes to David Cogen.
If you are having a hard time installing the driver for the G2 just use option 2 in the video instructions and use pdanet method.
ugh... hard to watch. did you use a camera pointed at the monitor for that video? why not a screen capture program?
don't get me wrong, great info but my eyes are bleeding

Hey,
sorry for my English ... I've had Google translate.
I have a Legend with the CM7.2.0 and wanted to use Gtalk with video function.
But when I run Gtalk and connect myself I see everything, except for one button video function.
Can one do something that does work?
We don't have a front facing camera, and even if we did GTalk would not allow a rear-facing camera to video chat.
Perhaps there's some patched .APK on the web or on this forum that would allow for that type of functionality, but wouldn't you agree that conversing with the back of your phone be a little strange?
An alternate solution would be to use a computer, I'm sorry.
But try looking for that app file, that'd be cool.
Hey,
thanks for the answer
Edit:
Why i must typ the stupid capture?
Because you are a new member and the CAPTCHAs are a measure to prevent spam. There are "thanks" buttons, too.

Hi, i got a generic android tablet momo8 and the front camera works like a mirror and I need it to work like a laptop does cos im working on a website that reads qr codes and it works fine in laptops but the android tablets wont read it correctly. I was wondering if maybe modifying the camera.apk it could work but i dont know much of java to do so and I need it kinda urgently to present it working to some potential client. If somebody could help ill be more than happy ...if someone know of an app that changes that mirror function it will be even better.
Thanks in avance.

Is it just on your tablet?
If it occurs on all tablets, you will not be able to do that by modifying the camera app as it is different for each device.
If it is a problem just on your tablet, ask in your device specific forum.

Yes its on every tablet with android. There should be a way to disable the mirror effect on the camera.. it cant happen that ipads work fine with it but android didnt think of reading qr with front cameras. There must be an app that changes that behavior of the cam

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but the android camera app does not read QR (or any other) barcodes. You would have to download an app to do that such as ZXing team's Barcode Scanner.

Ive created a web application that can read qr codes, it works on laptops and the idea is to use it by loading the site from tablets, when it loads the application it works well, it opens the camera with no problem, however the front camera by default works in a mirror effect so the application cant load the qr. This doesnt happen when the tablet has a camera in the back but i need to use the front cam. This is why i need the camera with no mirror effect and working just like a latop does

OpenCV and the methods used there need to have the openCV manager to be installed as a separate app (there are workarounds for this) for the libraries.
Bottom line is, you have to create your own camera app for this, disturbing the idea of a mobile site. There are (more or less) easy ways to implement camera, you are not the first one to bump into this problem.

Samsung UE46F6400

But it only works on JB
Many thanks for that information
Mine is UE40ES6100W and i've no fullscreen/mirroring option on my TV menu.
I've wi-fi direct and it pairs but i just can't do anything that i already done with stock video app, only watch movies and in my case without subtitles so i use BubblePNP wich is excelent for that.
Just for curiosity i've investigated and stumbled into http://www.samygo.tv/
This weekend i'll search a little deeper to see what's this and what can we do with it.

Hi, i don't know if it is proper to post this video here, but I have an oneplus5 phone and this app is not working. The story is...
SiviLink is a car app for Android that mirrors your phone screen to the car screen. The problem is, when i tried it, it's only working for androids 4-6.0.1 only. Can anyone help me identify the problem. Please see video below.

Have you checked if the app is compatible with later Android versions? The developer should make this possible.
