Hi! A friend of mine has a Jiayu G5. The phone is having poor cell (GSM) reception. It's got a custom ROM on it — an XPERIA port/clone called "vredniiy mod v31.3 (Xperia)" based on Android 4.2.2. She got the phone used from a friend, who in turn had ordered it from China. I'm thinking maybe a different ROM (stock or other) could fix this, or maybe it's just a matter of changing settings or something like that. Do you have any ideas?
Help much appreciated!

This may sound like a stupid question, but I have the defy and am planning on buying a Galaxy Nexus. This is something I´ve always wondered, but now it´s more of a concern since I´m buying a GNex from the US (Unlocked, unblocked and unblured!!) and am planning to use it in Argentina. So the doubt came up:
1-)Why does the Motorola Defy need a baseband switcher (if supposedly it´s a Quad band phone)?
2-)Do other phones (like the Google GNex) need to switch basebands as well to work in other countries/areas?

Its needed when running a custom ROM. The custom ROM's need that as the communication channel of the service providers vary. Baseband switcher, in a sense calibrate your radio to a particular range of frequencies.
As for GNexus, If you run it on stock, and its unlocked,I don't think you'll need a baseband switcher.
Hi there.
I have recently switched from GNex to LG G2 and I have noticed that G2 has some issues with its mobile signal reception compared to GNex. I mean on GNex at work I usually had 1-2 bars gsm connection and was able to make and receive calls just fine, where in same spot G2 doesn't connect to network at all, and I am not able to use the phone.
Now, I know that on my previous phones (rooted HTC Desire HD, and GNex) I was able to flash different versions of radio, which could impact on battery, but also boost reception of the phone antenna. Is it same for G2? I can't find any radio threads, almost like such feature would not exist for this phone? Can anybody advise?
Cheers.

That is great.
Thanks.
Didn't realized now it is called MODEM, not RADIO.
Hello, I am new to verizon. I just got a galaxy s5 and the phone is great I love. It's been about two months now with verizon. I recently noticed the s5 starting to have poor voice reception and poor data also. Tech support has replaced my Sim card and my phone and I'm still having same issue. Now they want to replace my s5 again. Not sure what's going on. I wonder if the new phone will have same issues. Has anyone dealt with this issue or know anything about it? Thanks
Hello all, I purchased my Zuk Z1 about 3 weeks ago now and to be honest I regret buying the thing. The WiFi is poor and the phone is also missing Band 20 - 800 Mhz that is widely used in the UK.
Another problem I'm experiencing is making voice calls with network three. Whenever I make a call the quality is not very good and I seem to get a hissing noise as well. If someone rings me this doesn't happen?????
I've tried the three sim in my Nexus 4 and the call quailty is fine.
I've also got a Virgin sim in slot 2 but have no problems with that at all.
Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.
I really wish I'd just bought the Nexus 6P now.
Hi, I am also on 3 and have been using z1 for a week now, used in London and Midlands area.
I don't seem to be experiencing the problems you have, call quality seems good, wifi good and 4G coverage. Certainly no worse than my previous nexus 5 which was my main phone for 2 years.
I'm still somewhat confused by the band 20 stuff. The phone supports 800 MHz according to the specs. I know 3 is currently rolling out volte - is this what you mean?
I do have the same problem with my simcard...I'm using du simcard at united arab emirates..
My calls are the same on 3. No 4g either
Hello...
I installed the ZUI version stock ROM and I'm not facing this problem anymore....I think it's much better than CM12....

I agree with you on ZUI being better than CM12,especially with the Zuk1 OS. It adds to the experience rather than taking away from it, like the heavy Samsung skins do
Is it possible to use voLTE in zuk Z1 using ZUI?
I am unable to make confrence call in my zuk z1. It shows an error. Unable to merge calls. Pls help me to resolved this issue
I got the us version x727. Currently running lineage was on .21 I believe when I unlocked and flashed. ( flashing didn't make reception better or worse)
I seem to drop calls way more frequently compared to nexus 6 , nexus 5 and samsung note 3 all on at&t / cricket.
changing preferred network settings seem to not effect my dropping. I am using the stock case and screen protector.
Its very frustrating as I am a truck driver and rely on this device to be used as an actual phone.
I would have returned this but I bought on amazon and changed there cell phone policy to only exchange.
Thanks for everyone's help
I also have poor reception with AT&T in Mexico, currently running Android 7 AICP rom but I remember stock rom was better in the reception
