Hey i want to change my phone to WCDMA Preferred by using *#*#4636#*#* but when i am trying to use nothing happens?
'Hidden menu" on our note 3 is not enabled...
you need to be rooted...
And you'll need Root Explorer...
Go to file EFS/Carrier/hiddenmenu
Open with root explorer text editor
You will see the word "OFF"
Delete and type in "ON"
Use capital letters
Hit the back button "you have made changes to this file do you wish to save?"
Click yes
Reboot
You now have your hidden menu but I don't know if all the codes are the same as previous Samsung devices... I don't mess with it to much... I just used it to turn off the wifi power saving mode.

Is there any way to access it without rooting the device?
Not anything that I know of...
If you go to a Best Buy store when the Samsung specialist is working... they are supposed to be able to plug in and enable that menu to do their tests before giving you a warranty claim... maybe if you found one of those dudes and bought him a beer?

I had the same problem, the folders did not exist. I did a search for hiddenmenu and it found nothing. Then I checked the EFS folder again and everything magically appeared.

No need to enable the HiddenMenu anymore.
You can use 'Phone INFO ★Samsung★' app --> go to 'Secret Codes' menu, or use 'Shortcut Master' app --> go to 'Secret Code Explorer' menu to launch the secret codes (ROOT is required).

Hello fellow S3 users,
Following the release of the new Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy SIII many people have discovered multiple issues, one being the loss of functionality of the Multi window feature. I'm not sure if this has already been posted but I stumbled upon a way to fix this problem. It is very easy to do:
1. Go to "Settings - My Device - Home Screen Mode"
2. Select "Easy Mode" and apply
3. Go back into "Settings - My Device - Home Screen Mode"
4. Select "Standard Mode" and apply
5. Go to "Settings - My Device - Display" and enable "Multi window"
Long pressing the back key should now bring up the Multi window panel.
Hopefully this works for you as it worked for me.
Thnks man, very thanks!
Thanks,it's some kind of trick to reveal hidden menu?

FAQ'S
Q.Can I use this rom on tmo/Canadian variants?
A.This rom is made for the N9005, @fahadali2315 doesn't support other variants, He ONLY supports the N9005. However a user made a fix to get the things that work by default to work on tmo/Canadian variants. Read the "How to get N9005 roms to work on N900T(Tmo) & N900W8(Canadian) Variants" guide for step by step instructions BUT use the fix that i am linking below.

Q.Why does the installation fail when I try flashing this rom?
A2.Use latest philz recovery (recommended at ROM thread OP), other recoveries might not be able to flash this rom.
A2. v2.5 comes with Aroma Installer, I personally choose Chenglu CWM as it will handle Aroma better.
Q.Why is deep sleep not working?
A1. Deep sleep only works with the 2 NE6 kernels, 1 that comes with the rom and other that @fahadali2315 posted.
A2. Latest updated / tested : Aurora kernel is a good match to this X-Note S5 Ported ROM. Thanks @MojoManagement for the good kernel
Q.Can I use s5 kernels?
A.You can but they break the camera. So better to use n9005/n900t kernels instead.
Q.Why is sview not working?
A1.

A.Live wallpapers are not included.

A2.Flash a different kernel.
A3. On v.2.3 & up, WiFi is working perfectly
Q.My mobile data doesnt work?
A1.Set APN from your provider manually.
A2. If A1 can't fix your device, try to go the APN, change the bearer to LTE, and then Save. Your mobile data should be working.
A3. If A1 & A2 still can't fix your device mobile data, your last resort is to flash FIX for National Roaming. Thanks to @Mroczny3 for the fix.
Q.I can't seem to enable recent apps?
A.Use gravitybox xposed/ Navigations Keys Actions set anyone u like to show Recent apps. (Task Switcher)
Q.I modified dpi and now my sview is messed up, what should I do?
A.Use app settings xposed module and set sview dpi to 480.

Q.XTransformer doesn't reboot in this port?
A.Just Set your dpi, and click on reboot button wait until it shows reboot in the TOAST. Then Reboot your phone from PowerMenu manually.
Q.Xnote App doesnt auto Reboot?

A.You have to set the color to white of the clock from XNOTE APP.

Delete X-battery.apk and use xblast/wanam to put on the original battery. Should work on older versions
Not sure about v14.
Q. Having some weird reflection/shadow under the date/time? SOLUTION ?
A. This is the Network Speed indicator and the problem occurs if you are using any xposed modules (Wanam) . So either switch off the indicator by going to Xnote control app >> Extras >> StatusBar Mods or disabling the xposed module.

Hey guys,
There have been a ton of people asking how to activate onscreen buttons and disable the capacitive buttons since CM12 builds have started rolling out. Obviously, at some point, these features will be rolled into the ROM, but until then, I figured it would be a good idea to simply present a step-by-step thread on the issue. There have been answers all over the place button nothing dedicated and centralized, so I figured I would help some guys out.
Things needed:
CM12 Build on any variety (currently K900 and bpear have "nightlies" available in development. Check em out.
Root access. Just flash SuperSU 2.16 (http://download.chainfire.eu/589/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.16.zip) if you don't have it. Root is necessary.
Zip to turn of the backlights: http://www.mediafire.com/download/p385se5ia28cqab/noSoftkeyBacklight.zip (thanks @Moody for this)
1.) Activate On-Screen buttons
- Use a program such as BuildProp Editor (look it up on the Play Store) to create a new build.prop entry. Call it qemu.hw.mainkeys, and set it's value to 0. If you are doing this manually, just add the line "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0"
- Reboot.
2.) Deactivate Capacitive buttons
- Download Root Explorer or some other program that allows editing of system level files.
- Mount your system as R/W. In root explorer at least, when you get into the system, there is a button up top to do so.
- Navigate to /system/usr/keylayout. Open Generic.kl in with a text editor.
- Comment out the follow lines by inserting a pound sign (#) in front of the line:
key 158 BACK
key 172 HOME
key 139 MENU
After this, they will read:
# key 158 BACK
# key 172 HOME
# key 139 MENU
Therse are numerically ordered, shouldn't be hard to find within the document.
- Remount your system as R/O.
3.) Turn off the capacitve back lights
- Reboot into custom recovery and flash noSoftKey.zip file you downloaded earlier.
- Reboot.
That should do it! You should now have software buttons and your hardware buttons should seemingly not exist!
Any questions or comments, please leave them here.

Hi there, first of all, thanks. I am having a problem where after I disabled the capacitive buttons (Step 2) the power and volume buttons are not working. Thanks in advance.
You know how to enable menu key also?

Yes any chance of getting home button long press as search? Default is the menu button doing this.
Its not working bro
Tried and followed your steps , disabling capacitive keys works but enabling on screen keys not working even after changing build.prop , also i read in some post that enabling on screen key mod will not work in cm roms is that true can any one confirm me?
i am using following rom its CM12
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/devrom-cm12-scheduled-builds-t2938372
its very stable didnt experience any glitch till now , multi user and guest account works , all the other features are working too, try it out friends.
Pure awesomeness, many thanks for this guide. I'm back to my comfort zone, onscreen for me is just more intuitive.?
BTW, how to bring back the capacitive lights? I tried to remove the script at /etc/init.d and it only bootloops after reboot.
Edit: Nvm, found it, re-flashing the ROM brings back all to the default behavior including the capacitive backlights.

For some reason this step isn't working for me. I tried wiping cache/dalvik and it didn't fix anything
Can anyone give a screenshot of the on-screen buttons?
Is this possible to do in hydrogen OS? I love that rom, but i switch back since there is no option to turn off hardwer keys and enable software key in system?

How to add volume button onscreen by editing buid.prop
Redmi Note 2, Android 5.0.2, MIUI 9.6
Need to enable original soft keys. I`ve managed to edit build.prop (qemu.hw.mainkeys=0) from TWRP terminal and sed command. Keys showed BUT don`t response.
I`ve noticed a new menu option in Settings (can`t be not quite accurate, coz I have a translation enabled) - System and Device -> Advanced -> Buttons and gestures -> Screen buttons -> Change buttons positions. And if I change positions, it changed. But buttons are stil not responding.
Are there any MORE options in build.prop, that blocks it?

[How To] Disable Capacitative Keys and Enable Soft Keys
Just in case anyone might find this useful, I've put together the instructions I found whilst trying to do this. Finally I can take photos without accidentally bringing up the Menu or closing the Camera App! First time I've ever posted here, so be kind! This works in CM11 M6 on Samsung Galaxy...

I`ve found some article, that point to /system/usr/keylayout/ directory and need to comment key 139 and key 158. But there were no such filename from article. So I`ve just tried to edit Generic.kl and It doesn`t work.
