"Waiting for network" issue on downloading certain apps - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using a rooted nexus 6 as a WiFi hotspot and whenever I try to DL star wars KOTOR it just says "waiting for network" is there any way around this? I think it has to do with app size(and yes I have enough space) I was able to download bards tale but that game gets it data after you DL the initial file from Google play.
Thanks

[Q] Play Store/WiFi Problems

So I've spent the last hour running logcats and Googling, but I can't seem to find an answer. When I start a download in the Play Store, it stays at "Downloading..." for around 2-5 minutes, then basically resets the download and it works. The logcats are saying stuff about logging slow HTTP requests (I saw around 23000ms response times) and not being able to find a file. It also switches the state from null to unqueued, then queued, then downloading, then success. It downloads and installs very fast after this.
I have no other ping/speed problems in any application. It leads me to think it's only the Play Store. The problem is I can't do anything about it unless I flash a different Play Store. Ugh. It took over an hour to download 40 apps when initially restoring my device. I wondered why it took so damn long.
Can anyone help?
Oh, forgot to mention, it takes >30 seconds for it to load the search predictions within the Play Store as well.
Oh yeah, and Facebook refuses to sign in. Sits there with the whole wheel slowly spinning and then says failed to authenticate, or something.
And yes, this is post-OTA.
Seems to be a WiFi driver issue, looks like DD-WRT or similar firmwares may be a factor as well. ANYONE please chime in!
Might be a play store issue. I've been trying for a while to install apps from Google Play but none of the free apps would download through my broadband internet. I disabled wifi, and now I can install free and paid apps.

It happens with more than just the Play Store, so I have to think it's a driver issue, or an API issue. The way some apps send packets must be messed up. Ugh.

[Q] updating apps from playstore

When trying to update gameloft games from play store the screen stays at the downloading but does not actually download anything
All other apps will update except the ones from gameloft such as asphalt and modern combat
Any help is appreciated
Maybe Storage Issues caused the download not to move???
try rebooting, the market updated., now when it begins downloading you get a new screen and the button now says "continue shopping"

Popups for play store

No idea when or how but my wifes phone all of a sudden has pop up ads or suggestions or games that direct it to the play store. She said it was after and update. We have uninstalled all games and have most basic things installed. Driving her which in turn driving me crazy. Any ideas?

If it's a notification she's getting, long press it and it will tell you what app it's coming from.

It disappears when she tries to do anything other than going to play store

There is an app in the play store called air push detector, apparently air push is in some cut-rate games to get ad revenue this basically tells you what app has the annoying ads
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector&hl=en
then un install the app it says has airpush.

"Waiting for Wifi" error from google play store on S8!

Hi there.
I just got a brand new S8 and updated it to the latest version of Android. It was really really disappointing to be confronted with the "Waiting for Wifi" issue on a brand new phone, especially one that has made ALL THIS NOISE and is this expensive!
For those of you who aren't familiar with this issue, it goes like this:
The "newest" version of google play store app is buggy and when it gets installed on your phone, you can't install anything from the app store and every item just says "Waiting for wifi".
Apparently, a lot of Xiaomi users face this problem as well.
The "solution" which has been given for this issue is that you should delete the cache and data for your Google play store app, uninstall the updates, turn off the internet, open the app and set it to never auto update the apps and then turn the internet back on and download your apps.
*For a few seconds to minutes!
Because no matter what you do, the play store app ALWAYS updates itself and your back on square 1..
Anyone else having this problem on the S8? any solutions?
Thanks.
Anyone?
Cricket
What if you uncheck "download on wifi only" in play store settings?
