I was trying to get my VS980 back to lollipop from CloudyG2 2.2 so that I could put use CloudyG2 3.1. I was completely fine with using 2.2, but after using the phone for a few hours an error would pop up that said "unfortunately, com.android.phone has stopped working" and if I pushed "ok" on that, it would just pop up a second later and take me back to the home screen, until eventually I would just have to shut off my phone and restore from a backup, and them a few hours later the same thing would happen. SO I tried to get back to stock lollipop for CloudyG2 3.1, and I installed all the drivers and got into everything all hooked up to the ADK flash to stock program, and once the green bar on the phone started filling up, I hit "EXIT" on the Flash tool. After that, the phone stayed at 20% on the firmware update screen for a bit, until I eventually turned it off. Now, when I turn it back on it just shows the LG logo for a few seconds and then goes straight to the firmware update screen. Plugging it in from there just has it try to install the MTP driver for a bit until it fails and then it doesnt get recognized by my computer. trying to do the factory reset button combo brings up the white reset screen, but hitting yes just takes me back to the firmware update screen. Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to be REALLY specifc with my problem.
You know what the funny thing is, though? I never even wanted to root my phone or do any of this stuff. I just had to find a way to get my phone to charge faster, not use so much battery, and not heat up so much like it had been doing since I updated to lollipop.
Thanks in advance for any solutions you have

So i got the new 4.3 update notification on my phone today. Eager to get it i started the installation (battery level was about 90%). After a while the installation went into a constant reboot, always went untill halfway of the progress bar and then phone went off and started again to same screen. I knew it was ****ed up so i went into recovery mode but then it starts to do the update again and i got the "ERROR" message. So i went into recovery again and now i get the "NO COMMAND". I was running 4.2.2 with everything stock, device was not even rooted...

Unlock your bootloader, and flash the stock 4.3 image manually. Download it from here
https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/occam-jwr66v-factory-08d2b697.tgz
After that, you can relock your bootloader if you want.

I've got very basic knowledge of android so i don't really know what to do... I imagine if i flash the stock manually i will lose all my data? Because in that case i might aswell go to the store and ask a new one since i still have my warranty...

Ok, if you have a store nearby, go to them. They will fix it properly. With basic knowledge, it's pretty dangerous.
Similar Prob
Hey guys,
I have a similar problem. Tried the upgrade to 4.3 and it stucked.... well now i constantly see the Google-X-symbol and thats all. Tried to unlock the bootloader via developer tools (for later flashing to Stock ROM) but there's no connection. Tried to replug it, etc.
When I start the bootlaoder (via Vol-Down and On-Button) I can choose the options (but recovery is not possible) But hm, the bootloader doesn't seem to be broken.
Can anyone help me? I'm not really a developer (although I work for a software-company) but I already unlocked and rooted devices and I have experiences in changing deep settings.
Help would be great!!! I don't want to sent it to google - I am lost without my S-Phone....
Thanks!
I have a similar issue, I found the update notification on my phone, went ahead with the update and it took ages! The battery was nearly full and the battery fully discharged while it was updating. I was at a friends house so no charger. When I got home I fully charged the phone and switched the phone on and got the nexus cross animation and thats all. I tried to enter recovery mode but got the no command icon.
Any help would be appreciated, I do have experience of rooting and flashing custom roms on my HTC Desire but have not touched the nexus since I got it. So everything on the phone is stock
Heres interesting, My wife tagged me into a facebook post telling peeps my phone was out of order, as she did it, the facebook app on my phone notified me of the tag!! Still got the nexus boot animation showing on the screen!

Ha, that's exactly the same issue.... Thank God I'm not the only one (sorry )
I got the "no command" error after my update this morning. My battery was pretty low, but the phone was docked. I just left the phone alone while I came here to investigate, and it eventually rebooted itself. Then it stuck on the loading X for around 5 minutes, but now it is optimizing my apps. Looks like it is going to work after all.
Mine has been on for a while but its not seeming to play. what mkes no sense is that it is switched on in the background but the nexus animation is the only thing it shows
I'm having the exact issue. I got my update notification this morning and it failed, going into an endless loop. I called google and they didn't know what was happening, so they're sending me a new phone. I don't want to wait for the new one, so I'm trying to fix this one still. I can start the bootloader, but I can't get into recovery. Is there a way to correct this through ADB?

When you get to the screen with "NoCommand" on it.
1. Press and hold power button
2. Then once you pressing the power button, press the Vol - Up
Thats it

Here is the fix for everyone
Ok, I just got off a chat with an Asus rep.
Step 1: Hold the power and volume up/down to get the android with the "start" option
Step 2: Use the volume down to select "recovery mode" It will now power off and power back up with the dead android and "no command" below it
Step 3: While holding the power button TAP, but DO NOT hold the volume up button. You will get an option to wipe all data. Do that.

Hold the power button until you get a black screen. Download LG Mobile Support tool and the LG Drivers. Plug USB In and then hold the Power + Volume Up key. On your screen, click Upgrade Recovery. From there, you can do a factory reset through download mode of your phone.

In case you did the latest firmware ota upd, there is a topic that can solve you problem as long as you can access TWRP(even if you didnt do the ota it will,i tried that myself) Here is what you need to do.
use TWRP's "terminal command" option to run the following:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
You'll have to type that whole thing out, and be VERY careful with spaces and punctuation. One wrong letter and you could nuke your phone.
This will probably fix you problem when it has to do with any update.
Thanks for the responses. I finally fixed it.. I started the procedure from scratch with a new laptop and somehow it worked lol

It happened to me and now phone hanged in download mode and can not connect to pc. Did you have a solution?
Solve
Guys! I had the exact same problem today. My solution was to keep pressing the "try again" button every time the error appeared on my computer screen. It took some time but the error was appearing at different levels each time in this order : 45% 57% 65% 80% and next the instalation was completed. If it doesn't work try switching to another computer if you can. After the firmware update hits 100% your phone will restart and the LG logo will appear(the led changes its color during this process). At this point you have to just wait a while. Then a dialog box will appear saying that the applications on your phone are configuring themselves. After that your phone will start and work normaly. The cause of the error is the lack of memory on your phone. If those idiots working for LG would say "YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH STORING SPACE" this stuff would not happen.
The phone is not rooted!(IMPORTANT)
Phone name: LG G2
Phone model: D802
Old software: 4.4.2 (KitKat)
Actual software: 5.0.2 (Lollipop)
I hope this hellped you solving the problem.

My LG x power died and I went to plug it in and a screen popped up saying,"Firmwire Update 0%", so I kept it plugged in for the next half an hour, and it still said 0%. I've tried resetting it and powering it off but nothing seems to be working. What do I do?

Download lg flash tool.
Download lg g2 stock firmware.
Press volume up button and insert usb cable. You will see download mode.
Open lg flash tool and flash the kdz( original firmware) through flash tool.select cse flash.
My LG V20 got stuck on the Firmware Update screen. It appears every time I restart the phone and I have to take the battery out. If I start the phone plugged in it starts normally. I was able to do a factory reset, the phone started normally a few times without being plugged in, now it's back to the Firmware screen. I can use the phone but need to restart when it's plugged in. I hope Oreo Update will fix it. I don't know much about updates, but do big updates like that reinstall the drivers as well?
Hello everyone I also have this kind of experience so many times in my g2 mini.stuck on Firmware update. What I’m doing is,
1. remove the battery to turn it off. Plug your charger and before plugging it to your phone hold the volume down and plug in until tou see the android is updating; or
2. Just simply hold the powerbutton + volume down until you see Android is updating.
I would love to see your feedback if it helps.
I've been messing around with my phone, trying to flash CWM and CyanogenMod (to no avail), and yesterday something happened. I woke up, my phone was dead so I started charging it. It booted into the Stock OS (the one that ships with the G2--build D20010o I think). Shortly after, a message appeared on the screen about an update the phone was going to install (I'm assuming one that AT&T was pushing to my phone), and shortly after it powered down on its own. I have not been able to get it to boot into the OS since.
Before all of this happened, I rooted the phone with IORoot, tried to flash CWM (I think successfully), but was not able to install CyanogenMod, so I flashed an earlier build of the stock OS (D20010o), rooted it again (I'm not sure that I had to--I think it stated that my phone was already rooted), tried to flash CWM again (unsuccessfully this time), and I gave up. Then this problem occurred.
Every time I try to power on the phone, the LG logo flashes, and the screen stays on, but it's black. If I try to do a factory reset via the hardware buttons, I am able to see that screen, but as soon as I follow the instructions of pressing the power button twice, it says that it's initializing the reset, but then the phone's screen goes black again--not sure if the screen is on or off, though. The LED light is also not on during any of this.
I'm unsure what to do. I've had the phone for about 6 months, but I had not owned an Android before that--iPhone user for 3 years. I obviously did not do enough research or ask enough questions, but I would like my phone to be in a usable state. I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone can give me!
NEVER take an OTA with a recovery.
Use the lg flash tool to go back to stock

Sorry, should have also mentioned that I can't boot into Download Mode. I'm assuming there's no .kdz file for AT&T, and the other method in that link requires Download Mode. :/
Saturday evening I got a notification saying 5.0 lollipop was available for my s5 so I eagerly downloaded the update. During the update my phone froze and crashed (had this happen twice earlier in the day) and it rebooted to the update screen. Once the update finished installing the phone rebooted like normal and sat at the verizon screen for about 2 minutes before crashing again. This caused the phone to enter a boot loop that ended up making an open padlock symbol appear on the start screen. After this appeared it took me to a screen that said "System software not authorized by Verizon has been found on your phone". After getting this error I tried using Odin and Kies to reinstall 4.4 on my device. The install was successful but after the phone booted it was freeze and crash again leading to another boot loop and a "recovery booting" message in the top left screen. It now either boots back to the System software screen or loops until it hits the recovery menu. Is there any way to fix this or did Verizon brick my phone?

Ok, so I am safe now. I was able to flash a stock NK2 Kernal.

Reboot and you should be ok. This just worked for me.

This worked for me as well, thanks! For anyone that wants to know, I used "NK2_Stock_Restore.tar.md5" specifically. You can get it from this thread labeled as "NK2 Stock Restore".
I've been using the stock rom on my phone for years, until after one update my wifi went incredibly choppy, so I tried rooting and LineageOS but experienced lots of other issues, so I reverted to the original stock rom.
I've stuck with 6.0 for over a year, unrooted, unspoilt, but I was constantly pestered with update notifications.
I accidentally hit 'Yes, I'm in' the other day and it downloaded the update, and the pestering went next level insane.
I'd hit dismiss and 5 seconds later - DO YOU WANT TO INSTALL THE UPDATE? It would reappear a minute later.
So I finally caved and just said yes, curious whether or not my wifi would suffer, figuring it might have been a bad update that caused my wifi issues which has since been fixed.
I installed the first update, which brought me to 6.0.1 I think, and then I installed the update to 7.0.
And then my phone died completely.
The only sign of life is when I plug it into the PC, the charging light blinks, but I don't even see a battery charging screen.
The screen has stayed black since, can't reboot into any mode.
What now?

Does it vibrate or any other indication that the phone is trying to boot? Will it charge? needs to be at least 40% to recover. USB to ADB and see if the phone is recognized on a PC. Could be hard bricked ... there is one other mode that some phones use where the screen is black and the only way to talk to it is through a flashing tool. I apologize that I cannot recall the name of that mode but considering that Lenovo developed this phone it wouldnt surprise me if it was just in that mode, waiting for a boot load update of some kind. A lenovo flash program might be worth a try.
