I followed the thread in the general section to a T, but I keep getting a black screen whenever I flash with flashfire. Not sure of my baseband, but I'm on 4.4.2

I activated my S4, and I 'thought' I had taken the MDL update before I rooted, apparently not. My WIFI will not come on and I get the nag notice every time I try to open. Upon looking at my About Device screen I see that that my baseband version is L720VPUAMDC but my Build number shows JDQ39.L720VPUAMDL.
Used CF-Root and it seems to be holding according to Root Checker. I am currently downloading the stock MDC restore in an attempt to correct this problem. My hopes is a flash back to stock and starting from scratch will fix my woes. Am I wrong?
No custom recovery installed.I did a factory reset when I saw things were going bad. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend flashing the stock MDC firmware and starting from there.
Here is a link to "[HOW TO]Install Latest Stock MDL Firmware & Modem w/Custom Recovery & Root"
Please thank Mudavo for putting this together.

There is step by step info on flashing the stock MDC firmware, upgrading to MDL, rooting, and flashing a custom recovery if you are interested.

The first 2 links on that page are to Odin and the Stock MDC firmware.
There are step by step instructions listed on how you will use Odin to flash the Stock MDC firmware.
I am currently downloading the SPH-L720_MDC_STOCK_RESTORE.exe file I found from another link. Do you think that will pose a problem? I would really hate to stop my current download and start all over.

If it is the one from here http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=231 that will be fine. You will need to follow the instructions in that link.

Ok, I rooted my phone, installed safestrap, and made a virtual rom. I tried installing CM mod from get.cm/?device=jflteatt using the stable version. Successful install. But when I boot the phone, it just goes to a black screen and stays off and I have to boot it up. Cleared cache and Davlik, am I doing something wrong?
AT&T I337 Galaxy S4 w/ MF3 update.
Please read the safestrap q&a thread posted in this q&a forum. Read it from the very beginning.

To help clear it up, as he said - the original thread does tell you why CM won't work. ROM's compatible with SafeStrap are TouchWiz based ROMs. The original threads will help you to learn more about SafeStrap so you don't screw your phone up.

The 2nd link will have a list of confirmed working ROMs with SafeStrap.
Ok, I have been running an OLD version of SACs custom ROM for a while (Pre Kitkat I think).
I am considering going back to stock Rooted with the Hotspot mod only.
I've been out of the "flashing" scene for a while, so what's the easiest way to go back to current stock w/ rooted & hotspot mod? If you could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it!
1. Please don't post questions in the development forum.
2. Find Unknownforce's stock rooted NAE thread.
3. Read and follow his directions.

Ahh... Sorry. I was looking at this forum and the Q&A forum at the same time. Thought I was posting in there.
Thanks, I'll look up his.
Been reading different threads. So if I just flash i Rooted NAE ROM I should be ok? I just want to make sure since I am coming from an OLD version of SACS.

You'll probably have to Odin the NAE modem as well. Somewhere in unknown's thread are the instructions to do and keep a pre Knox bootloader
Ok, 1 more question...
If I want to go back to complete stock from the old SACS Rom...
Could I just flash a stock MDL to my phone and then tell the phone to update it's self and let it OTA update to current version?
Would there possible be any problems with that?
Just curious as I have an old stock MDL already on my computer from when I was flash long ago.
I know this way I would have KNOX but I honestly don't really care too much.
That will take a bit, but will work for sure.

You should not do this! If you have a newer bootloader than the MDL install will fail. All you need to do is download the full NAE tar file and install it. You will be updated in one step and you won't lose data. you can get the full NAE tar from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663619
... to the latest MF9 which is flashing every so often on the phone.
I'm assuming I download and fastboot the latest firmware (which I can not find), which wipes it clean, re-install TWRP and then what for root?
This is an L720, 4.2.2.

Try not to ask questions in the development section of any forum. These are not the forums you're looking for, the L720 forums are here:

Sorry, will do.
So I have a custom deodexed stock PB1 ROM on my S5 and I really wanted Marshmallow. I followed the newly updated guide by muniz_ri on this forum under general. I followed the instructions although I knew something wasn't right. And now here we are stuck on the Verizon logo, not booting. My storage has already been wiped so if there is anything I can do using ODIN to flash kernels and ROMs, please help. Another reason why I made this thread is to get the links too because I wouldn't want to search through posts to find these ROMs. Any help is appreciated. I want to simply go back to an original PB1 ROM or any Verizon ROM where I can just OTA to Marshmallow. Thanks.

@painiac already wrote a massive guide that covers problems like this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/guide-painiacs-essential-guide-to-t3319848
Scroll down to or search for the section titled "Fixing a Bricked Phone", and you should be good to go. Since it made it to the Verizon logo, it should be a fairly painless fix.
I can hook you up with a stock PB1 tar for Odin

Errors from Odin? We need a log of any errors if possible.
