Wildfire under water? (survives washer)

(Or, "how I cleansed my htc".)
A washer makes several sounds, but yesterday I heard a new one. It was a "clunk" I hadn't ever heard before, so I started looking for my cellphone which was no-where to be found. So I feared the worst and opened the washer, all of the clothes came out soaking wet and there was a puddle of muddy water in the drum. I noticed a cyanish light was emitted from a trouser and got it out of the pocket, turns out it was in car mode but otherwise still working just fine. Though the "car mode notification" persisted, as if it was in a cradle. So I took it apart, back side, battery, sim card and left it on an envelope on a radiator overnight. This morning I inserted the SIM and battery, turned it on and it's fully functional again! I expected water to creep inside through the 3.5mm jack, but it turns out they water-proofed it. I even tested the connector before leaving it on the radiator and it worked just fine.
TL;DR: Miele - HTC: 0-1 (without centrifugation)
Hehe, congratulations!
At least you have now a clean phone. 90 degrees?

No, the washer isn't capable of 90°C. It was the "express" program which lasts just 32 minutes (teehee), which I *think* defaults to 30°C but I'm not sure. The water and clothes weren't hot anyway.
This opens possibilities though, I'm thinking of a singing snowman this winter (at least until the battery runs out) with no visible cords or speaker. Perhaps even make it interactive by having the nose internally poke the optical trackball to play the sound file with a custom app.
No?

Oh man, you are so lucky, usually a phone access to water has to be dried immediately or it will broke those electronic elements inside, and you phone still function well, which, completely shocked me!

well, my wildfire once went diving into lake (it really looked like it was going for a swim, while i was desperately chasing it down the steep side of the shore lol ). It was underwater for like 3-5 sec. but after a complete drying, like 8-10 hours later, worked like new hooray to all the divers-wildfires!
Use rice to draw the water out . It might work now but corrosion will start on the copper tacks that will kill it .

[Q] Beer spilled on my Nexus 4. Need some questions answered

Ok so here goes. Last night a friend spilled roughly half a glass of beer on my N4. It was lying on the table face down and the back was covered in beer. I'm using the Ringke cover and beer got in to the phone. I switched off my phone immediately, dried it up and left it as is for a couple of hours. Now here's where the weird stuff happens. Everything working fine except for the fact that my phone can only output the ringtone sound. No other media playback(game/music/message tone) worked. Then I realized the phone mic and headset speaker had crapped out as well. Also when I plug in the headphones and twist the jack around, the phone goes crazy and cuts off the audio and turns on Google Now's voice search. Feeling pretty bummed I switched the phone off again and let it be. Fast forward a few more hours and now the phone is working fine. All the previous symptoms are gone except for the fact the headphone jack problem still persists.
Is there anything I can do to fix the headphone jack problem?
Also what are the chances that the speaker and mic problem will come back?
Would spraying the headphone jack, mic and the speakers down with a can of compressed air help? (obviously I would do that with the power off and wait at least an hour till it dried off)
Put it in a zip lock bag of uncook rice. For at least 24 hrs. Had a friend that her iPhone feel in the toilet. We did that for a day and it work just fine. Don't eat the rice.

Well in his case it would be fermented rice.
100%...put it in uncooked rice as previously mentioned. After 24 hrs or so you should be fine if things are already looking ok except for the headphone thing.

Also, don't spray any compressed air. If there is any moisture left in the phone you could spread it to worse areas in the phone.

[Q] Galaxy S4 Speaker not working.

A few months ago, my Galaxy s4 was exposed to a small amount of water. I instinctively placed it some rice for two days, but when I removed it, the speaker was making a loud crackling noise. Not knowing what to do at the time, I ignored it, and it eventually went away, but the speaker was not functional.
A few weeks ago, I ordered a new loudspeaker to try and fix it. It did not work, but if I put my ear next to it, it still made a very faint crackling noise. I then bought a new USB board (which the speaker connects to), and the same thing happened. No sound and a very faint crackling noise.
Does anybody have any other ideas of what I could try to fix it? I am out of ideas.

Why did you place it in rice for two days? The right thing to do after water damage is to blow dry it with hair dryer.
I am no 'expert' but it might be the sound processing chip(welded on mother board) damaged by water and the easy way to fix it is to replace the whole board, which could cost hundreds in the us. If you are in a country where labor is cheap, there are people that can help you fix the chip for reasonable cost. But in the us, you probably have to replace the mother board or just buy another phone.
my advise is that check the whole board with magnifying lens to find any rust or water trail. sandpaper the connection part of speaker, make sure the speaker is properly connected. The problem can be as simple as a weakly connected speaker.
God bless you.

took my z5 premium under water(fresh water pool) phone started acting crazy

yea z5 started popping up the notification about if i wanted to open the music app when inserting headphone lol like none stop i had to turn it off cause the notification was popping up one after another one took it out of the water waited a few ,tried again in the water same **** funny my old z2 still working in the water no problem ,what a disappointing with the z5 premium phone works fine after it got dry yours do the same?
You should disable "Smart Connect" app.
There is some water making a short circuit in your headphone jack, so this app will confused and think you inserting headphone then removed it again and again.
hah, ive put my z5 to water, after 30minutes phone was dead, sent to warranty - changed main board, screen, speaker battery, flex
These things are barely splash-proof. Consider yourself lucky it's still working and don't get it wet again.
My Z5P went into Onsen bath with me in Japan, I put it under warm Onsen water for quite a while, and it was absolutely fine.
It's becouse you put it in dirty water. To much minerals and salt. Would happen with pretty much any water resistant phone under such conditions.

Headphone jack broke - USB-C to 3.5mm?

My headphone jack decided to stop working yesterday. Unless you put pressure on the input wire in a specific way I'm only getting some weird mono sound. Does the same with multiple devices so it's definitely the phone's jack. Pretty pissed, owned smart phones since they became a thing and this has never happened before. For how much money these cost it's disappointing.
Anyway, is the Axon 7 capable of outputting audio to earbuds if I buy one of those Type-C to 3.5mm adapters so I can have a headphone jack again?

Yeah, but AFAIK you'll not use the DACs of the phone.
I guess it doesn't hurt to ask, but what do you see when you look at the headphone jack from above? I see 4 small contacts (2 in ine side, 2 in the other). If one is jammed somehow you might be able to use a needle to fix it.
You've got all the right to be pissed, but I'd say the design of the jack is better than jacks of most phones I had before. This one is one closed piece of rubber with the pins coming from the sides. On my other phones the rubber piece was cut above and below, or it didn't have a bottom part, so water could get inside pretty easily...
Again, just check if one of the contacts didn't get jammed there. Otherwise try lubricating the pins just a little with a needle, then push them, see if they spring back to position. Since you described weird mono sound I guess both lower contacts got broken
I'm guessing that's my problem. I see three contacts and then a little nub on the wall on the left side. Guessing a contact used to be there and why if I hold pressure it works.
Figured out which pin it was. It's not broken, it's ever so slightly jammed down into its recess. Can't get it to come back out. That's it, my headphone jack is worthless and my phone has no resale value because of a millimeter of movement by this tiny pin not poking out all the way. Excellent.
How about contacting ZTE? This should definitely be covered by warranty.
