[Lollipop][TWRP][PhilZ Touch][CWM] XZDualRecovery 2.8.18-UNOFFICIAL - Xperia Tablet Z General

Hi Guys,
Fortunately the Bootloop in XZDR for Z-Series Lollipop was solved with 2.8.16. But I was experiencing Problems with not mountable /system Partition in all 3 Recoveries. So I decided to implement a Workaround by modifying/creating 2 Files (init.rc, xzdualmount.sh) inside the Recovery-Ramdisks (recovery.xyz.cpio.lzma) , which is solving this Problem.
Please keep in mind that this is an modded, unofficial Version.

Sometimes TWRP is saying something like "No OS installed" if your reboot to system again. This is because it tries to mount /system before my workaround is executed, which is not working, and then remembers this. You can ignore this message.
Flashing/Reflashing Firmware (while you are already on Lollipop) created by PRFCreator is somehow destroying this Workaround. So don't do that!!! You will loose Root-Access!!!
Looks like Restoring own Backups is detroying Workaround , too. Sorry
As a Workaround for this Workaround (*LOL*) you can temporarily flash Kitkat-Kernel , reboot straight into recovery again and Flash your own BAckups or PRF-Flashables the normal way.
With 2.8.18-UNOFFICIAL (see links above) those Problems should be solved
New Workaround Description: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=5544
With Version 2.8.19 and above those Problems should also be solved in official Releases.

I don't think so. If this would be possible, then [NUT] would have no need to upload XZDR for every device indivdually.

i have used that code of yours on xperia z twrp terminal mode
mount -o ro /system
mount -o rw,remount /system
umount /system
mount /system
it worked once system got mounted and i backup the rom but after reboot the same issue we manually have to command

Yes this has to be done every time you boot into recovery again.

A quick question. A little confused by some of the terminology being used.
I am currently running a lp rom on my xperia tab z made through prf creator which was rooted, can I use this recovery or best to use [NUT] ver 2.8.17.
Thanks in advance

didn't test it yet, but it can mount ext SD to flash .zips. So i presume answer is yes.

The work around is working on my tabZ..by the way, if you accidentally flash/reflash a zip using prfCreator, you can re-root it using KingRoot and remove KingRoot using one of the procedure in the General Section.
Btw, the flashable.zip of the work around did not work. But the windows installer works perfectly..thanks for the solution!!

I've added a new unofficial Version, with different Workaround. This should solve problems with flashing PRF or backups.

I have tried for my ZL.
This Unofficial mount now "/system".
Update the binary fix root.
Thx.
TWRP has the wrong resolution, how can i fix this?
Edit2:
Unfortunately i cant install xposed (flash with .zip) didnt work. :silly: Open your Eyes!
Any help?

That's normal. You used the TabletZ Version of XZDR. So Resolution is optimized for TabZ.
Use one of these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61339059&postcount=5392

Hi , it seems that we are again unable to mount /system in CWM/TWRP with the 5.1.1 update.

Pac-Rom + Pink kernel 20140319: WiFi not working: workaround

Hello,
Sorry, I have to post this workaround here because I'm new on xda and I can't post an answer on the development forums. So if someone see that, please post a link to this thread on PAC ROM or pink kernel topic
It seems there is a new file in the modules directory which is a symbolic link named wlan.ko. As an easy workaround, simply replace this file (/system/lib/modules/wlan.ko) by this one: /system/lib/modules/pronto/pronto_wlan.ko (move this file to the parent directory and rename it). Then reboot, you should have the WiFi working now
PS: I guess it's maybe better to modify the symlink or load the correct module but it's harder to write command lines with a smartphone
According to some people, this bug should be fixed now.
Doesn't work!
Sadly, doesn't work on PA/C-RoM.
Edit: Thought I'd elaborate a bit. There's no wlan.ko in /system/lib/modules/, so I just copied the pronto_wlan.ko, renamed it to wlan.ko, repacked it and flashed it.

Did you try the latest nightly version? I no longer have this problem with the latest PAC-ROM (And I think there is a another fix for your XT1033 )
PS: You can also try to just remove the symlink: /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko

Well, Wi-Fi still refuses to work after removing the symlink!
D'you know any other fixes? Tried lots of stuff, meself, but that is one stubborn bug!
Cheers, mate!

No :-/
Maybe you can try to reinstall the latest nightly version of your rom (released after March 20th -- I think it's the case for C-RoM), reboot and check if the WiFi is working. If yes, don't disable it now then reinstall the latest version of Pink kernel.
But if the WiFi is still not working, it's annoying... You can reformat /system where kernel modules are installed but I think it's automatically done when installing a rom. Maybe they are not using the latest version of the kernel?

What did you mean by saying: "repacked it and flashed it"? If you flash the ROM, it will format and reinstall /system partition (correct me if it's wrong).
When I had this bug, I replaced wlan.ko symlink file by this one: pronto/pronto_wlan.ko. Then I rebooted (or I guess you can use this command if modprobe is available but it's easier to reboot : adb shell "modprobe -r wlan && modprobe wlan").
Clarification

As in, I repacked the kernel, and then flashed it.
I'll try tweaking a bit here and there, and let you know how it goes.
And yes, I flashed the latest C-RoM.

FIX UNMOUNTABLE SYSTEM AFTER ROOTING
Let's keep this short and simple.
This allows you to mount system even if you root.
Flash this and thank me. :\
Jokes aside. Just hit the download button.
Technical details:
This disables RIC service and the script is by NUT. RIC prevents R/W when system is booted.
Thx for your work!

Thanks a lot. After 2 days searching i found this. Works like a charm:highfive:
Had an issue with /system, and this has fixed it. NC works, I can still use Xposed, AdBlock, and change my DPI. THANK YOU!
Don't suppose there's any way to fix this without a custom recovery is there?
I've rooted but can't mount/write to my System folder after doing a 4.4.4 OTA update, but I don't have a custom recovery installed. I just rooted using the toolkit and left it at that.

İ think the problem is file system.. As you know gm5 plus using Squashfs file system. because of that we cant changce r/w permission for this file system. Only option is using custom rom.

Please Wait. Our Team is bringing CyanogenMod 13.0 for your device please wait.
We are at the end of success.
Give a chance like.
Take full system backup
Then copy system backup to your PC
Rename system.squashfs.win to system.ext4.win
As well as if system.squashfs.win* exists rename as same.
Format your system partition as ext4 using twrp.
Copy the system.ext4.win to your mobile and restore the backup.
Try this method.

You cant r/w system because GM 5 Plus uses squashfs file system. Squashfs cant r/w it can only ro. You can flash systemless root and xposed.

Hey there,
AirAudio has been kicked by Google because they didn't like a link to a rooting-website inside the description anymore, written 7 years ago.
Its successor is called AirMusic and allows to stream some apps (eg. YouTube, YT Music, Deezer, PodcastAddict , radio.de, Plex and more, you have to try it out) without root on Android 10+.
On rooted devices, all audio can be transmitted.

Magiks on Moto Z play

I managed to have magisk and magiskhide working sucessfully, with some manual tricks and workarounds
There is a bug in f2fs that prevents /data/magisk.img to me mounted writable, so the tweek is just moving that file to the /cache partition, which is ext4 and creating a symlink to the original file.
So the steps for a working magisk is.
- Unlock your bootloader
- Install Twrp
- Flash magisk without mounting data partition and boot once.
- Reboot to recovery and open terminal (advanced)
- move magisk.img to /cache partition, changing name ( example: mv /data/magisk.img /cache/magisk_2.img)
- Create a symlink between_files ( ln -s /cache/magisk_2.img /data/magisk.img)
Would be nice if anybody can try to reproduce.
Ah, so there is a way after all. I gather it works normally afterwards, with phh superuser, xposed and everything? I'm willing to try and reproduce your steps if so, maybe tweak the installer script so it does this automagically as well.

Right. I think I'll try this out today and see how things turn out. As for SafetyNet, I though the unlocked bootloader alone was enough reason for it not to work, is this only for some models?
Update: So, @jblancoperez, I've reproduced your steps and Magisk Manager tells me it's installed but root isn't activated and it doesn't let me do anything else as a result.
Things to have a look,
Please confirm in the terminal if /magisk is mounted.
Go back to TWRP terminal and also confirm if the symlink is OK.
Nice to get the output from /cache/magisk.log
It took me a while to have everything right, doing it on TWRP is not the easiest places to move things around.
So, an update. Your method just wouldn't work for me at all, no matter how many times I tried. What worked was following the first part only, as in unmounting data and then flashing Magisk afterwards. I've tried Xposed and Viper4Android; they worked, but both did have to be flashed through twrp as opposed to Magisk Manager, which would throw an error. Not sure if that's on them or on this particular method. I should mention though that SafetyNet wouldn't pass even before xposed and with the hiding settings, not sure why.
You may want to try the kernel where the f2fs bug is fixed, which may be the cause when Magisk hide is not working which would cause Safetynet to fail.
Is there anyone wanting to test brand new Magisk 11.0 if it runs fine on Moto Z Play? With and/or without that f2fs fix?

I got bootloop when I install magiks 11.0.
Do you have a logfile of that action in /cache or /cache/recovery which we could show in the Magisk thread?
I was able to upgrade the 10.2 installation.
Will try a new clean installation on the weekend with the f2fs fixed kernel.

[Solved] Lenovo tab 4 (tb-8504x) mount /system as rw = not responding device

I have a problem with rooted tab4 tablet.
When i remount /system to rw, device hangs/freezes (stop responding).
Tested with magisk and SuperSU.
Android 7.1.1
EDIT:
I figured out.
It's necessary to flash through TWRP, a magisk module from dywersant's post.
When module is enabled, it's possible to mount /system as rw, but device will not pass SafetyNet test.
When module is disabled, /system is mounted as ro, any change on this partition will freeze device, but it will pass SafetyNet test.
I use this module only when I Have to.
