I am currently using cm12 on my nexus 7 2012 WiFi (grouper) with TWRP recovery. I am fed up with the lollipop lags and want to get back to KitKat. All I wanted to know that can I directly flash cm11 using the recovery (after factory reset and wiping cache) ? Or is there any other way to do it?

you will need to wipe data before going back to cm11. you should have a backup somewhere....
fyi, optipop with f2fs and overclock runs smoother than any rom ive ever used on here. even usbhost's crom builds(sorry bro).
if you do end up going back, please wait patiently and dont give up on lollipop. we are close to having the 3.4 kernel ported and that will breathe new life.
cheers

Hey everyone, so currently I'm running Smooth ROM v4.4 on JB 4.2.1. Now, I'm either going to be switching to Paranoid Android, or Smooth ROM v5.0, but my question is, how would I go about upgrading my Nexus 7 from 4.2.1 with a custom ROM to 4.2.2? Can I just flash the new 4.2.2 ROM on there and it will be the same as receiving the 4.2.2 update, or is there something else I have to do first?
I appreciate any advice on the matter. Thank you!
If you continue to install SmoothROM, then you would just need to clear cache and dalvik cache and flash the ROM (check SmoothROM thread in case they warn you to factory reset for some reason)
Now, if you are going to upgrade to Paranoid Android, then you would want to do a factory reset, clear cache, and dalvik cache. (Obviously backup too.)

I'm not sure if it's absolutely necessary or not, but it has been recommended to update your bootloader to 4.18 before going to a 4.2.2 ROM.
If you want to, you can update your bootloader by checking out this thread.
Noob Here. I have a CM 10.2 Nightly flashed (last weeks version) and I wish to update as it contains some fixes. Have I got to factory reset, wipe cache..etc? or do i simply flash the new nightly? also will I lose all my apps?
Thanks

If you just flash the new nightly (and I'd reflash the gapps too) you don't need to wipe anything and you won't loose ant data
Sent from my Nexus 4 running Android 4.3

Ok cool. I have couple of questions if you don't mind.
What do I flash first? ROM or GAPPS?
I heared some nightlies have issues, is there somewhere I can look to find them?
Will I need to reflash Franco Kernel?
thanks

Samsung will upgrade to 4.4
I wonder if this makes possible an official update from Cyanogen team, as the official ROMs from Cyanogen stopped in 4.3
Does anyone have any idea if we still upgrade the CM?
Thanks for attention.

There is unofficial 4.4 CM for Note 2 runs good
Check out OmniROM 4.4 and SlimKat 4.4
Not much difference between those 3 Roms anyways don't worry about CM

Flashing is easy
After you root and install custom recovery, all you have to do is download the ROM and transfer it to your SD card
Enter recovery, wipe dalvik cache, cache and data, find the ROM ZIP file, and flash!
The only way to soft brick your phone is to flash the LTE version of the rom or to flash rom without wiping cache and data
I personally do a full wipe (dalvik, data, system, internal storage , cache)
The stability of cm has finally got to me.
Other than a clean flash do I need to perform any special tasks with the file system when downgrading versions?
Also, I am running twrp v2.6.3.4.

Yeah Its not all Its cracked up to be is it. Im off cm as well until a new stable comes out. But Ive gone back and forth between jellybean and kitkat with nothing other than a clean flash.
Awesome. Was afraid I may need to do a compete re format or upgrade twrp, etc. So you have no issue with file structure of any kind?
No just follow instructions and download the ROM and gapps from the malidus thread oh and no need to worry about ota updates messing up your device from what I've heard this ROM has the updater removed

Hi I have an unrooted Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 on Cyanogenmod M11, Was on UK VOD stock but moved to Cyanogenmod which is still on 4.4.4 KitKat but I'm a bit worried about future development of CGM. I read about tussles with other companies and big aspirations for M12 but the regular updates I've been enjoying have died out. not even a lollipop stable yet, I'm beginning to lose hope.
I know I shouldn't be so skeptical but I want to explore other roots (no pun intended).
Currently which rom would provide me with a stable lollipop with regular OTA updates for future proofing my phone?
Thanks v much
Alternatively I guess I could go back to stock to get lollipop but haven't done it in a while Im guessing I just flash a stock image via odin
Those tensions don't really affect Cyanogenmod, though I understand your concern. However, the biggest issue you're going to have is that most - if not all - custom ROMs are built using Cyanogenmod as a base. Realistically, the only alternative available I can think of without going to Touchwiz is Danvdh/Kryten's GPE ROM. Going back to Touchwiz is a dead end. Samsung has stated that Android 5.x is the end of the line for the S4, meaning there will be no Android M unless using a custom ROM.
Thanks very much for the excellent advice. I will give Danvdh/Kryten's GPE ROM a go and see how I go. I'm going to post the link to the ROM thread if anyone is following the same route as me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353
EDIT: I'm going to try http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-orig-develop/rom-cyanogenmod-12-t2943934 first as its CM 12 lollipop which is what I was looking for really but will try GPE if i dont like that rom
Another question... sorry: i currently have CWM on my phone but the CM rom says to use TWRP with F2FS does cwm have this or do i need to remove CWM and install TWRP?

Don't use that version of CM. It's not what you want because it's not updated anymore.
Use this version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...lop/exclusive-antaresone-alucard24-s-t3066696
or the Official nightlies.
I used the older one but realised too late (
got stuck with no gapps and the bloody thing wouldnt boot into recovery cwm or twrp :/ never had that before. so having to do stock flash It's failed twice LOL
EDIT: got it stocked well thats something at least. anyway tomorrow I'll try again and get TWRP on there properly, it was weird because cyanogemod had installed CWM on there before i couldnt get rid of it :/ so i ended up with no recovery manager doh! Thanks for the link Lenny
