[Q] Speaker distorted -Water HELP - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I spilled some water on my s5 ...în the sink ...a small-mediu quantity of water (I washed my phone with soap ....I did that even before and was ok) ...everything îs ok except SPEAKER which in the past 2 days has been all distorted ...very crispy sound
I'm so desperate ...I don't know what to do ...I supposed if there was water left inside speaker would dissappear in 2 days ...WTF ,
I left my phone 8h in a small quantity of rice ...nothing ...
PLEASE HELP ... it is over ?

Omg ) I washed it again ..spilled some water on the speaker and now it's OK ...thx God

I'd be careful using soap, it might decay the rubber seals protecting the phone from water, and next time you 'wash' it, it might not survive

HTC HD2 WATERY MALFUNCTION pls Help !

I wasn't so lucky with my wet phone please help !
Hello Guys, I am a doctor and the other night I got home really tired and put my phone on top of my drawer as I always do, and took a coupe of aspirins and after a few mins. of tv I fell asleep. I had the glass with some water also on top of the drawer and while asleep I hit the plastic glass and some water dropped (I believe on the surface of my HD2) I say I believe because I was asleep and and I woke up at the noise of the glass falling on the floor.
I noticed the phone screen was wet and cleaned it and went back to bed.
I failed to remove the battery or turn the phone off, next morning, the screen of the phone was flashing on and off repeatedly and it behaved erratically.
I removed the battery, removed the back cover and wait... It has been three days now and if I put in the battery it turns on and works almost fine for a few mins. but the volume screen pops up repeatedly and the volume does not work and at some point it seems the phone goes crazy showing all kind of screens at random like a DEMO MODE (if you know what I mean) but the must frequent is the volume screen.
I bought some humidity absorbing powder and the phone is just there, now surrounded by it. I don't even know if it is wet inside.
Does this behavior sound familiar to any of you ? the thing is that I don't have HTC support service in my country, this phone I imported it from the us and I trully hope this is a wet solutionable problem.
I apologize for my lack of English, I hope no one gets uncomfortable.
Any help guys please ?¿
Well, if it still has water in it, you could try putting it in a bowl with some rice to draw the water out ..... let it sit covered with rice in the bowl for a couple of days might work better or might not than the drying powder you have ...
all I got ...
Thank you so much for your advise.
I will do that, the phone has been surrounded with thah powder for 24 hours now.
I'll post whatever news I get.
Again thanks a lot
Any news
Hello, do you have any news on your phone? I just got caught in a serious rain storm and my HD got soaked in my pocket :-( LOADS of water behind the screen I can see...How do i get it out, help...
Thanks in advance

My phone fell into Ketchup!

I was eating breakfast this morning and my phone fumbled out of my hand...
with the top inch of it falling face first into my ketchup.
Now I got it all cleaned up, but now when I am on the phone with someone the speaker volume is very low. Does anyone know of a fix?
Oh boy, a bucket full of ketchup in the morning

I guess little more cleaning would do it....
Please take out battery.
Maybe you'll need to disassemble if it'S filled with ketchup
Regards,
scholbert
Just keep licking it. That will eventually clean it all out.
lol try taking the bat out and putting your phone in a bowl of rice. i dropped mine in a cup of water once, did that and it worked fine the next morning. rice sucks moisture out =]
It wasnt drenched in ketchup
just the front side, top inch, of the phone fell in. The only this wrong at this time is that the speaker volume (front speaker) is very low...
I do not want to buy a new phone until the dual core phones start appearing next year.
Does anyone know how i can get that speaker to see if i can fix anything?

O yaaaaaaaaaaa that what I needed to brighten my morrning. :cyclops::laugh::laugh::crying:
sucking speakers wid mouth .. lol
I found that playing music at 100% volume and blocking the clean parts of the speaker with my finger causes the dust to fly out of the speakers
Wow, sucking speakers with mouth to get dust out. Seriously the OCD king of XDA right here! Literally heard it all about this device now, lol! Play a song with heavy bass to push that dust out, haha! Seriously how do u see dust in the speaker holes? Do u have a 50x magnifying glass u use for this? Maybe there's a bubble case for people who like to live in bubbles to avoid the elements of going outside into the wild of this planet? Oh boy.

P8 Lite survived water submerge

, I fully dropped my phone in a bath with water aprox. of 30 cm just for A SECOND. I instantly turned it off. Shaked it on some paper towels, dried it a bit with a hairdryer.
2. Dissasembled it, just removed back (that took me 30 min. , glue is really strong) no other parts and now it's staying in a bag with some Silica Gel packets.
The phone is staying from 15:00 p.m. (now in my country is 22:01), but tommorow I have to take it to work at 11:00 a.m
^^This thread is just informative, I will let you know if it survives (god please) because I don't want to buy a new phone^^
I have to mention that I had headphones plugged in when dropped and that water damage indicator is FULL red.
:crying::crying:
I am very interested in your situation. Did the water get inside the display? Do you have any spots on the display? Like, gray/white spots? Unfortunately I dropped a couple of drops of water near the side buttons and somehow the water got into the display. I got it off by puttin the phone in white rice for a night, but some white lines still remained and are not coming off.

Yes, display was full, but checked it this morning,,, and it was ALIVE, with no markings, everything was working. Silica Gel does really absorb water very well
:angel::angel:
P.S. (edit) The display is really fragile in terms of water, I had a lot of white lines on the display, but now they're all gone.
P.S.S. Rice does not save electronics that well, how it's advertised, I've dropped a long time ago an Samsung Galaxy S plus in water and tried the method with rice, after 3 days tested it and everything was buggy, dissasembled it and found out that the motherboard and some cabled had a lot of white spots on them(from the rice),but cleaned it and worked as new. Silica Gel is in small bags, so rice fragments don't go to the motherboard and leave white spots.
(edit 2) Now my phone "is washed" and is like new, wash yours too! (--do not TRY, JUST JOKING)
Thanks, I'll take this advice, its a good idea, using silica. Where did you buy it from ?

You can find small bags in shoe boxes, but I found my big packets into some chair compartiments, to not make mold.
But, for international buying, try amazon or ebay

Waterproof question after test on new phone?

Hello all,
Quick question, got my new S8 unlocked from bestbuy yesterday and have been testing the phone for issues, redtint, bluetooth wifi etc. Tested the waterproofness in my sink with no soap, no high pressure or anything and i notice after i dried the phone off there was a bit of water oozing from around the rear camera cutout. After i dried off the phone i shook it to help water out of the ports and thats when i noticed some water oozing from around the cutout. Not behind the glass. The phone works fine and so does the camera.
I just want to make sure this is normal for this phone. Obviously the speaker/charge port/head phone jack fill with water and dry out. Hoping someone can tell me if their phone does the same thing?
I came from the S5 which has a worse water rating and i did nothing different then i have been doing for the last 3 years on a monthly biases to my S5. And i wanted to test waterproofness quick in case this phone had bad seals!!!
Thanks

Can't tell you, i'm not brave enough to test the phone like that. The phone is water resistant, not waterproof.
The same thing happend with my Samsung Galaxy s8 after I got it wet. There was a little bit of water oozing out from around the camera cutout, and I also did not observe any issues after that. I think its just water getting trapped under and/or around the metal ring. I've seen it happen a couple of times, and I am sure that if there was an opportunity for water to get inside the housing then it would have done so by now. I would still be careful, as the phone is only water resistant.
