Hi everyone ! I encountered a problem with my galaxy s4 ( I9500 ). It is related to charging, i'm usually charging it via PC and the problem is that it keeps "charging" even after i unplug the charger ( even if i plug it for like 2 seconds and unplug it, it will say it's charging ). ALSO most of the times i wanna charge it, it wont charge if i just plug the charger in but it WILL FLASH "Usb connector disconnected" "Usb connector connected" messages on the top @ notifications( so i can see that message everytime, but it won't charge ) and in order to charge it i have to unplug it and wait like 1 minute then plug it back. I want to flash stock rom now, and make it just STOCK, with nothing else on it. I want to know if there is something to take in count before flashing. I'm used to flashing ROMs but since last time i encountered "unknown imei" problem i didn't flash it anymore. OR If you may have seen this before and u can tell me what to do, it would be great !
NOTE : It hasn't got that problem when i bought the phone 4 months ago. BUT the charger always fits hard into the phone. I mean it's somehow smooth, i feel like that isn't a reason to worry about.
Your micro usb connector need to be replaced.

If you're talking about charger, i'm almost sure it has not too much to do with it. I tried more than 3 chargers so far ( some of chargers i tried didn't work on my i9500 but it works on another i9500 ) .
NOTE : I have changed the charging port some time ago because i was encountering the same problem, but this changed nothing .
ALSO i flashed stock rom, the phone it's all clean and the problem still showing up.
Im talking about the mobile microusb, not the charger.
Regards
I have to reiterate what Rap0ns says, this sounds like a cast iron case of a failed MicroUSB port on your phone. They're a poorly designed connector, so they fail far too often. If you're back on stock then there is no reason for this issue to be happening from a software bug (seen the unplug still charging bug on loads of custom ROMs for different phones).
You're lucky though, unlike iPhones and other devices where the connecting port is soldered onto the board, those clever boys at Samsung used pop connectors for almost everything, and have done for years (I recently replaced the SIM card tray on an S1 and it was pop connector).
These phones are dead easy to work on with the right tools, so just get a cheap set of screwdrivers and pry tools and you'll be sorted. Have a credit card on hand as well.

I got my elfin for about 3 years now and today it stopped charging. It won't charge at all with any usbcable nor the wall-charger. The led doesn't turn on. I think the usb jack is broken, but all the pins seem fine. Does anyone have any idea what to do?
If you say the USB jack is gone? did you try conn ur elfin to the computer? is it getting detected?
remove the battery, wait for few minutes, put it back (DO NOT TURN ON ELFIN) and put on charge.
If the USB jack is really broken then you can use a universal battery charger and transfer your files and activesync via bluetooth (only slower)

That didn't work. The computer doesn't detect it at all, I've tried several USB cables.

Well yes, that is the only thing I could think of, but I have none of those. They are fairly expensive to try if you're not even sure.
May be that light is not working properly.
Jus chk whether u see "Charging" in Power settings available in settings -> system.
If it says charging then ur light might have a problem.

I can't check anything, the battery is empty. That's why I think the USB is the cause and not the battery being dead, because it was already near empty when I saw it 'alive' for the last time.
I have the same problem.
Is the battery broken or the phone?
tried another battery
same result
now i'm waiting a tattoo
omg...currently my elfin behave the same way...unfortunately i don't have any other battery to try on
is it possible that your elfin one day just completely stop working? no life whatsoever???
i just can't charge my elfin at all...and yes the battery completely gone
what to do...what to do... *sigh
My Elfin did this last year. The problem for me is the contact pin used for charging in the mini USB jack on the bottom of the phone was squished.
If you look at the bottom edge of the phone with the screen facing the ground then you should see 5 contact pins along the top edge of the mini USB connector. The contact pin on the far left is the charging pin. The contact pins are springy. To fix mine, all I did was use the point of a small pin and gently pried up on the charging pin so it was more exposed.
Hope this helps,
dunlopkr
Same problem on my side
In actual fact, when I got my fist elf, it only worked for a month then the screen stopped working. A quick stop at the distributor and a new unit was supplied. The new unit lasted 3 days and would not charge. After spending many hours swapping cables and trying other chargers and batteries, i came to the conclusion that the charging circuit had been damaged. I had the device replaced with another brand new elf and lo and behold, 3 days later, it wouldn't charge again. I took all I had back to the distributor and had everything replaced with new ones, from cables to charger to phone. I got home, flattened the battery with video playback then charged the phone again. To my dismay, it refused to charge. The broken device was returned again The distributor got so sick of seeing me for the same issues, they took my kit, and replaced it with a new elfin which has been working perfectly till today.
My guess is that the HTC devices have a very low tolerance to electric fault or spiking through the USB which causes the charging circuit to malfunction. All in all, my elf was repaired twice and replaced 6 times with new units in the first year alone. My elfin on the other hand may not be the most feature rich phone on the market but has certainly been my favorite.
Hi all,
same problem here. The power-pin just broke off. I'll try to mend it and report here.
Hey all,
I have a Galaxy Nexus which recently started to act up on his USB port saying it's constantly connecting /disconnecting to the charger with no cable present.
Device: Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Edition: Maguro GSM
OS: CM10.2 nightly + CM11 Alfa
Chargers: OEM, generic, battery & laptop
Cables: OEM & generic
Reproduceable: sometimes
This week I noticed my phone did not react immediately when I plugged it into the charger. Mostly after some fiddling (bending the cable away from the screen) it would start charging. After pulling the cable or removing the charger from the wall, it would generally take 5 to 10 sec for the phone to realize I pulled it- this used to be instantly.
Strangely, when the phone said it cannot charge it can be connected to a computer as Media Device without any problem. Charging only happens after the fiddling again.
Looking into BBS, it cannot give any stats because it says the device is connected constantly to a charger. Android original battery monitor stats are also a mess but it does not say I am connected always.
Every now and again the phone also starts making notifications as if he was constantly connecting and disconnecting - leading to frustrated looks of the people on my train...
Cleaned out the port - no success
Hit it on the train table - no success
Reset, battery pull, flash, different OS - no success
After this all I think it will be a hardware issue. Nothing seems bent and no pins seem to be sticking out. Removing the back and checking the mother board showed everything still intact and all connectors still in place.
I'm guessing now the micro USB connector of the phone has somewhere some corrosion or a pin out of place but not visible to the untrained eye.
Can someone shed some light please?
2 screenshots to show you what I mean.
No, I am not up for 9 hours and lost only 10%... Battery life has become horrible since this issue. It just thinks it's constantly hooked up to a power source and I think it's no longer power efficient because of this. I already disabled charge connection sound because it was driving me crazy ...
Please help if you know even half a solution. I can also post a photo of the connector but the problem is that there's not much to see there...
I think you have problem with charging circuit >>if you have solid knowledge in electronics you can simply replace it
replacing this port in attached pic will solve your problem .... otherwise you can fix your own port because I think one of your USB port pin are touching the ground chase of your motherbord
Thanks for the reply. Somewhat saw it coming I would have to replace something...
I already looked on some sites like ifixit to see what I could do but I thought to have seen that the Motherboard was in one big piece.
Could you please give me the website where you found this or the name /article code of this component?
Thank you

and you have nothing to do with the motherboard just take the old charging port and install the new one
Ordered a new part. Hopefully it'll work...
Hi,
My s5 charging port suddenly stop working . I have checked the cable charger even battery. The battery is charging fine in another s5. The problem is when I put the charger in power off mode the charging animation appears for a 1 second and then gone again like its disconnected and this keep happening again n again also there is msg in this screen in yellow set warranty bit: kernel. if any one know whts wrong with my phone please help
Hi!
Charge your battery full in other phone and try again. If you phone is able to turn on, you will be able to control whether your usb port is dead or not
try a different cable. I use a USB 2.0 Cable for charging. You may need to have the charging jack replaced. plus the screen requires specific glue if the unit is repaired
I bought a used s5 knowing it had a flaky usb port, I thought that I would replace it.
Maybe usb port was dirty and/or corroded and cover was missing so I decided to clean as best I could w/alcohol and toothpick split down the middle wrapped in tissue, alot of crap came out
Mine is now functioning 99% of the time
As for your warranty bit error idk so maybe you have a bad usb port but why would USB give a warranty error

Maybe if repair turns out to be exspensive, you can try Wireless charging?
The repair is easy just clean the port as suggested above, if that doesn't work order a new charging port its pretty easily replaceable for under $10.
As for the warranty bit that means the phone has been rooted or another ROM flashed at some point in its past. It doesn't affect anything except void the warranty, which is probably long since expired anyway.
if cleaning doesnt work then replace the usb port or do wireless charging.
seems as if the hardest part of replacing usb port would be unglueing the lcd off the frame, maybe 5 out of 10 in difficulty
I had to replace my wife's S5 charging port. I used this Youtube video as a guide. Worked like a charm.
https://youtu.be/vOEbMPENigc
I was too lazy, I ordered a wireless charging kit, takes a bit longer to charge but it's easier. The s5 needs either a special back cover or a receiver that goes in the back cover to work on a pad. You can also spend some money on Amazon and order an external charger and second battery and just swap them when dead. If you are already rooted or gave a custom recovery at least you don't really need the USB port

It's a very difficult operation, especially removing the lcd without cracking it.

Think. Is a kernel problem.. try to flash stock firmware with odin and try again...
I have been facing the issue of slow charging from 3 days now. It takes 9-10 hrs to charge completely. Interestingly I just plugged my phone to my PC and USB not recognized pops up every time. I tried changing USB Cables and Chargers , nothing helped. I think these two issues are closely related and some chip is blown up inside. Any idea if what could be causing this?
Use custom kernels
you find the solution ???? please help me if u can !!!
Same issue happened with me when actually Imy phone was bricked,I changed and used other usb cable, then I got solved my issue, then after 3 months, tht cable stopped to work only for my mobile (works in other mobiles still),so I have to keep changing cord n adaptor for fast charging, now iam currently using Moto turbo charging,n from 6 months it's working properly,n never use phone while charging
if pc says that the last usb you plugged is malfunction... than thats the problem with me also.. i guess phone usb port is damage some how... coz my phone also takes 5hrs to charge and pc plug say usb malfunction
You need to get your motherboard change if usb charging board is not seperate. i experienced the sam eissue on my zenfone 5, i did a thourough check, even bought its psu and relaced it. turns out its motherboard was buggy and a slight water drop on the cable mouth caused this issue. better get it replaced if its still in warranty else you will have to buy a new mobo.

I have same problem you have to change mobile usb charger connector i.e. charging port of mobile. then it will be solved.
Dude do these 3 :
1.check with another adaptor, along with ampere app make sure charging is 2A
2. Change the usb configuration, dont charge from pc it chaarges slow bcoz its DC
3. Change your rom, use custom ones or reflash whatever u r on.
Hello boys! I have a very serious problem with my LE PRO 3. Since yesterday, the following is happening BUG: When I connect the charger, it does not load immediately. It only loads if I reboot the device. And if I take it out and put it back, it stops loading again. This also happens when I connect to the PC. The device only recognizes if I leave the cable connected and restart. With the headset the same thing. It only recognizes if I leave it connected and restart the device. I'm on the Cydrass Google edition ROM, and my device is the x720 version. I have already switched to other ROMs (LineageOs, Ressuection Remix, and even the Chinese STOCK ROM 26s, and the problem still persists!) Apparently it's a serious problem recognizing my USB port I do not know what else to do! Please, help me!
even first buy , do you have problem ?
To Vitor_147
Remember, if you change the stock original LeEco rom you cannot say "have a problem with my LePro3", it's no longer the original combo "LePro3" (hardware + software) so expect (and accept) anything (better or worse!) and report the defects to the rom developer.
Now some helping things!
Apart to clean the phone usb c port and to try a new usb cable, you can:
With the usb cable connected, switch the usb debug off (or on) (developer options) then check if your computer detect your phone.
Even if your computer doesn't detect the phone or your phone seems not charging battery, if the usb cable (and charger) is good in 99% of the cases it charges the battery even if not at full charge rate (expect a minimum 4 hours charge time).
Before to give up, the last try is to bring your phone back to factory conditions with everything (but everything!) under the exact conditions of how it came out of the factory, then you can start over there and have an idea of whether the phone has a hardware defect or if it's just a matter of software.
I hope you solve the problem, if you find the right solution please report it here, so other users can learn how to solve this problem! Cheers!

I already wrote this up in Omni thread, so I'll keep it short. I've also been experiencing this same issue for a while now, it first happened on stock rom, reboot solves it. Darko tried a fix in his eas kernel, seems to fix it (so maybe somehow kernel related). I believe it might be somehow related to the usb-c controller, cause I found cases online of similar issues with pixel phones (i believe the controller manufacturer is the same as in our phones). I actually know the exact moment when my problems first began, after I used my OTG adapter to connect a usb mouse. Few hours after that, the phone wouldnt charge.
{Disclaimer - this part is purely my theory}
I think it maybe somehow related to a safety "switch/fuse" of sorts, or something to do with static discharge or something similar, and here's why. I did a loot of trial and error since the first time it happened to me cause it scared the sh*t outta me, thinkin my phone is broken. I am vigilant about careful handling of usb ports and such, (ocd-ish really) so theres no way I physically damaged it, its not loose one bit, cleaned it out, tried wiggling the cable around anyway, has no effect, so I excluded the possibility of a faulty port/soldering. A few occurences to note
No1 - if I plug my phone in the charger first, and then plug the charger in the outlet, it breaks the port, I have to reboot to fix it. But plug the charger in the outlet first, then the cable to the phone - no problem. (Static discharge of sorts?)
No2 - since it started happening, the only way my usb-c OTG adapter works is if i first plug the adapter in the phone, and then the desired usb device in the adapter. If i try to plug the adapter in the phone w/say a usb stick already connected to it - no go, doesnt work.
Oh... I'm sorry for what happens to your phone! It's true the safest way to charge a phone avoiding current surge/spikes/shocks is to plug first the charger to AC outlet, then the usb c plug to the phone, then the usb plug to the charger. If possible, never plug/unplug the charger to/from the AC outlet if the phone is connected to the charger.
When the phone is full charged, first unplug the cable, not important which side first, then unplug the charger. If the phone is still charging, better unplug first the cable from the charger side to avoid micro spikes on the usb c port.
If you cannot obtain a normal behavior of the usb c port neither with reflashing the phone with the "qfil" system, perhaps a logic port of the usb c port is burned or simply in undetermined state, in the last case a total battery discharge may reset the logic port state and the phone can works fine once fully recharged. I'm sorry I can't help you better at this time! Cheers!

@orsonbear, thats my train of thought aswell, micro discharges occuring while plugging/unplugging causing the controller to freak out, or potentially damage the tiny connections (micro usb only had 4 wires vs 24! in usb-c). But I believe the problem lies somewhere on the software/firmware side, mainly because a reboot solves any issue I have. And also I just remembered, the first time it happened to me was a couple of days after I updated my firmware while updating to 19s, or 20s, cant recall precisely. Anywho, for me it's a minor nuissance, not like the OP who can only connect his phone once before rebooting (I can go for weeks before it occurs).

Yes,
I thought about letting the phone down completely, and see if that does not happen anymore!
Same problem here
Days ago it start happen, exactly how you say, i never change the stock software and it start happen randomly, I have to reboot to recognize anything that I plug into the USB c port, I try factory reset and change from 26s to 23s and it keeps happening so maybe I'm pretty ****ed, someone help me, in my country no one will fix the port u.u (sorry for my English).
Hellao! I'm having a very similar issue, charging works fine and the pc detects the phone but OTG and the audio on my headset is not working. Did someone of you find a solution to this problem?
1. x720, x722 or x727?
2. Where did you buy the phones? (Store names)
3. What kind of USB-C cable were you using? The one that came in the box? Have you used other USB-C cables and adapters to see if it works?
This could be hardware failure due to a lack of QCing from LeEco (just your average hardware issue) or a USB-C cable issue. It's ver. 1.0 on all LeEco Pro 3 models (right)? So I can't say it's the cable for sure. Has anyone attempted to take the phone apart to replace the port? do they even sell the port replacement?
Similar problem for me. About a month ago my headset stop working and the phone did not recognize it at all, tried with the adaptor to 3,5 mm jack and did not work either. Charging worked though.
Found a replacement chip with usb c port and ordered. Yesterday i replaced the charging port, but still the headset do not work at all, and connection to PC does not work ether. Charging still works as usual.
I ordered the phone from grossoshop 7 month ago with their rom. Tried this evening to upgrade the rom from 5.8.018 to 5.9.020, still grossoshop but no difference... It should not be a hardware problem as i replaced the type c port.
Should i try to flash another rom to see if there's any difference?
Any other suggestions?
Thankful for any ideas

Have you tried switching cables? Could you have broken a contact or something while swapping the port out? Have you tried putting the old port back in to see if the computer recognizes the phone with it? Unfortunately you're gonna have to try everything, even if opening it back up again is tough. LeEco phones aren't exactly known for their build quality. Are you x720? Well, flash whatever ROMs you can, I guess. Might as well try everything.

Yes, I have tried to switch the cables so no problem with them. Have not done a swap back again as the problem seem to be similar as before, so maybe a change to a different rom will be the next step for me. If change of rom does not work, maybe then I'll try to swap port again.
And yes, It's a X720
Thanks for fast reply.

Maybe it's not plugged in or attached correctly so the phone doesn't detect it. Sounds like a hardware issue to me, in all honesty. I once took apart my iPhone 5 to replace the non-functional home button and it wouldn't work no matter what I tried. I had to remove the battery, reseat it, and then attach the home button again. It finally worked after a reboot.
just report in on this thread, I as well recently purchased an x727 experienced the similar issue. Basically as described above no matter what roms i test is always have some sort of camera errors when charging.
sometimes charging doesn't work or camera doesn't work I have to reboot to get it to work. extremely annoying. I think it is hardware related.
Anybody else have a solution?

This my advice to anybody considering buying this phone don't why you will get zero support from letv.
I got luckey I have zero problems with phone .
I recommend spending more money and getting a supported phone by the maker.
If you do buy one buy it from Amazon where get a warranty on it.
