Ting is great, never had any problems or roms that had any problems. M works also.
be sure to change to LTE from global

My only issue is going to be the Data portion today was my first full day with them an I already almost hit a GB lol...I don't talk or text that much so I'm thinking the data is going to be expensive.. Well see.

[Q] Questions about Droid X on Metro PCS

I know this question has been asked plenty of times before but I have some questions that I just cannot get a straight answer to. XDA came through for me with my HD2 and I hope I can get some guideance again.
Backstory....I got my HD2 all androided up with 2.2, ran up to my local "Simple Mobile" Store (Im sure most of you know, simple mobile is pretty much T-Mobile in disguise) and I got my phone activated. Then to smah my dreams, I find out I cant get signal at all within 10miles of my house. Although the phone is amazing when it does have signal.
So now, Im Looking into going back to MetroPCS because I have full signal with them every where I go, and Im looking at the Droid-X as my next phone porting Victim. However I cannot seem to find one solid guide on getting everything working properly. Some guides say everything but apps work, some say apps work but no mms, Is there one rock solid guide out there that will cover all aspects? Obviously I would like my phone to act just as it would on VZW, or as close as I can get. Secondly, Will I beable to get 3G or not? Im pretty sure MetroPCS does not have 3G(Atleast in Daytona Beach, FL), but some people keep saying they do. Lastly, Since im pretty sure that the answer to the last question will be a big fat NO, what kinds of internet speeds can I expect with Metro's network? Will apps like Pandora and Youtube Work? If so I know they will be slow, but just how slow are we talking?
Also, as a side question, are there any 4G LTE phones that can be ported over from verizon yet? Metro doesnt have the best selection of phones.
Thank you to anyone who can shed some light on this for me. Im definately not a noob, but I'm sure as hell no expert either.
Sorry for being so wordy with my question
Edit: Also I have a friend willing to sell me a EVO for $100, Is it possible to get that phone working aswell, apps and all?
for droid x:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...-x-and-get-apps-mms-internet-talk-tex-working
for evo:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704161
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796257
just got these from a quick google search. there are lots of other guides
I have actually Seen the Guide for the droid X, and the first one you posted for the EVO. However I haven't see the second EVO guide that you posted, so thank you for that one, that answered the EVO question.
My only other question is; What (if any) apps Will not function on metropcs? I do not live in a EVDO market so I wont have 3G. Will apps like Pandora, Youtube, and google maps work? and if they do what kind of experiences have peole had with them, are they tolerable, or are they so slow that their barely usable?

Do you think it will even be worth it?
While I myself am a total VZW Fanboy, if you have constant access to WiFi (college campus), it wouldn't be so bad.
Personally, the hassle isn't worth it for me and I'd rather pay the premium for a reliable network, but for others, maybe not .
Interestingly enough I am seriously considering going to VZW. However I know they are going to require a deposit from me, but it's almost worth it for me. On a side note, this is for me and my wife, so if i do end up biting the bullet and going with VZW do you know if it would be one deposit for the whole account, or one deposit per line? ATT wanted $500 per line.
But in the mean time im still stuck with metro, and I have 25Mb/s internet at my house so im covers there, but unfortunately no WiFi at work.
I am currently using droid x on metro. With it upgraded to leaked gingerbread everything works except picture messages which can work but is a little buggy. You can follow the guid at Howard forums for flashing. You do not need U2LN or AUTOSTAT files at all with gingerbread and since metro dos not use a proxy anymore....

Are you on the stock ROM? If not, that might be the issue (because of the modifications made to it something could've gone wrong in that specific ROM.) You could also attempt to use Phone Info from the play store if it simply just doesn't work in the dialer. There's not many people that have issues doing this, so it could be that you might just have to reset your phone if all else fails.
doesnt force close on me.

Just Tried it again on CFX SR1 W/ brixked 0.6 and got an FC. I got it stock as well.
But from what ive heard you will not kick into HSPA+ mode until you put a strain on your conection. IE: Idling/web browsing/facebook will not bring you up to HSPA:15 (you can check you HSPA Channel in the settings--->about phone--->Status and then look at mobile Network Type). Knowing that i live in a well covered area i was upset that i couldnt get full 42mbps. But as my research and expereince has shown i can get it, just only when its necessary.
NOW, im not a wireless tech, im not even a rocket scientist, but i have done alot of reasearch and the data matches my hypothesis so ill lay it out for everyone to tear apart.
HSPA+ 42M works by using a Dual Carrier signal, which of course uses a bit more power than a single carrier. So even if you have a perfect -0dbm signal strength, you will only see HSPA:10 [ aka 21mbps ] in your network type. BUT, if you put a load on your connection ( in my case i took a multi hundred meg file into dropbox and then downloaded it) you will see the speeds increase signifigantly past the first little bit of data transfer, and if your are quick about it or cook up some sort of widget or overlay you can see the phone kick up to "high gear" and use the HSPA:15 channel.
i have also seen this in effect with larger apps. For instance the Ingress update that i got earlier today downloaded in these steps: 756k - 1.3Mb - 3.5mb installing. in ~ 10 seconds.
tl;dr Phone idles in low speed mode, goes to high speed when needed.
So if you want to test for yourself and have a bit of data left on your account (in 3 test i burned ~ 250MB) start a big download and then quickly switch to a view of the network type.

Well no one has a solution or an actual idea about what the problem is so I guess we will just be waiting x amount of time for a fix. Maybe a ROM dev can look into this and fix the issue because it'd be really nice to use the new 1900mhz bands. Can someone do a log cat and see what the issue is? No laptop ATM.

Any issues on LTE Note 10.1

Hey guys & gurls,
Getting my Note 10.1 LTE tomorrow, and I'm just wondering if there are any issues that I should be aware of before turning the great device into an even greater one with the help of everyone here.
Any info would be great.
Thanks,
Evil.
Nobody has anything to tell me?
Cheers,
Evil.
there arent any issues for note 10.1 so you should not be worry about anything
Yep, in Australia all I can find is the 16Gb version of the LTE(4G) model... This is too small, I need at least 32Gb...:crying:
No problems using the LTE10.1 here in Germany either. Apart from it being addictive. And the disruption to meetings while folks check out the handwriting to text.... or in my case, scrawl to text.

Still I use this thing at Uni for lecture notes, student admin type stuff and in campus emails and I cannot imagine studying without it... Its priceless and gets a lot of attention especially from iPad (iPoo??) owners... very gratifying...

I'm sure there is a free app to help with this.. apn.. something something.. search in play and I'm sure it would be there..
Well actually I couldn't help myself.. this will back up and then restore your apn..

Its free too and highly rated so should be fine.
Ill look into flashing 2.3 tomorrow so will update on how that apps plays out for me but don't forget your trlco can help too. Customer support should be able to txt you the settings and once the message is opened it auto fills the setting for you. We used to do it for customers back in thenso surely even the telco themselves should have an app that solves it??

Does Root cause problems

Ok I been on here a long time and I've had SEVERAL phones . The Note 3 is puzzling me and I don't know what else to do but come to the community . I cannot get good service in my house, Verizon provided me with a Network Extender. Although it improved my signal and reception TREMENDOUSLY I now cannot get any text messages. I've done several different trouble shooting techniques and I also had someone come over that has Verizon (same phone not rooted ) to see if their phone Would do the same as mine. So she text me and it never went thru but she was able to receive all her text messages. Can root be causing my issues?
Or can anyone give me any insight on this
I'm on latest version and in hyper drive rsl7

Not getting SMS is a network thing - 100% network thing. It's fundamental to Android so I doubt any rom would be causing it. I only say this because one time - I stopped getting SMS / MMS on my Verizon Phone for several days. Thinking it was just a glitch, I let it go for a few days. Finally I called Verizon and they had me do several hours worth of factory resets, tests, and then finally elevated it a level higher. Each level required me to do all the carp, factory resetting, etc... which I kindly did because they were required to do it. Finally, I got elevated to the highest tech, who really knew his stuff (really nice guy) - found out that someone had terminated SMS/MMS on my line inside Verizon's servers somewhere. He actually had to contact someone else to turn it back on. Bam, got my SMS/MMS back. Took about a week.
May or may not be related.
If anything I'd blame the network extender. Do you get SMS/MMS outside of your house?
I thought it was network extender also...yes i do get them out side my house ..i also get them inside my house if the extender is off. But then when my sister phone got them fine on the same phone and she text me and I couldn't get them I did not understand that part

Wow that sucks... Yeah, when I lived with my parents back in my Droid 1 days, we got a network extender and we had nothing but problems with it. So, we chose to just live with the 1 bar of reception.

Looks like other people having same problems - of course no solution or fix on any of those links. That would frustrate me to no end. I'll keep my eye out and let you know if I find anything.
Uggghhh. Well dang...
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Definitely call Verizon about this issue. Maybe check APN settings too. I understand that's primarily for data but it couldn't hurt to check
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Maybe cause the network extender uses your broadband for data, not the phones cellular network. That way Verizon puts the signal burden on your ISP, not themselves. I've heard that MMS doesn't work when not on cellular network.

Rooting will not change the phone experience in any way... Swapping ROMs improve it though.

Oh, but it will.. And it does. Rooting alone allows you to do most of the things you can do on a custom ROM, but you're doing it to the stock ROM. Even without a custom recovery, you can still modify system files, freeze/uninstall system apps, run root apps, etc.

Where did you hear that the battery life isn't good?
I typically get 2.5 days per full charge with between 4.5 and 6 hours of screen on time per charge depending on if I am reading, or doing media (games, youtube).
If anything I would wait for the Note 5, but that will be a while. I'd suggest getting the Note 4 because it's quite simply a very amazing beast of a phone and then using JUMP to upgrade in 6 months if you so desire.
