I purchased a factory unlocked note 3 about 2 days ago and out the box was 4.4.4 i presume. The manufacture date was in late 2014. I've been dying to get my hands on the official lollipop update knowing kies is about the only way. Long story short after the reboot i turned my head and i heard the T-mobile boot sound! I look over and see the tmobile boot playing. After that i suddenly have all TMO's bloatware and annoying little offers but weirdly half of the bloatware doesnt work. It all gets errors and so forth. I'm slightly confused as to why this happened. I purchased the note from an official licensed samsung retailer and the box was sealed. I just want to know why or how this could happen? IT just baffles me.
Its a TMobile branded phone is the most likely answer .
Kies has updated by the firmware details etc on the phone .

But i purchased it brand new, factory unlocked, directly from samsung. I had to order it from the official retailer but i had tracking VIA samsung's official support mail.
Did you try to contact the place you got it from?
What details re CSC firmware etc .
Use Phone Info from Play store .
Kies can only read what's on the phone .
Are you sure Kies gave you an update to lollipop .
Could it be that someone flashed a firmware ???

Hi
My OH has just bought herself a recon S5 in the UK.
But it seems to be a bit jumbled up. Sticker on the box said SM-G900A (American AT&T). Device info says it's an SM-G900F (Europe). We are in the UK. I'm believing the device info.
But it seems someone has flashed a Chinese or Korean version of the firmware on it? Factory reset starts in Korean or Chinese (I can't tell which) and the firmware version is G900FZHU1ANG1. It's KitKat 4.4.2.
She wants it up to date on Lollipop. Whatever that firmware version is, it doesn't want to OTA update to Lollipop.
So, I've downloaded the latest Lollipop BTU build for the 900F (BTU-G900FXXU1BOE5-20150601141257.zip - which I got from a link on here) and plan to flash it with Odin 3.10.6. As per instructions on sammobile. (and here, they're the same)
I've not flashed a ROM for a looooong time and I don't want to brick her phone (cos I'll have to buy the replacement!). So before I go any further, can someone quickly confirm I can just go ahead and jump straight from the current KitKat firmware to this Lollipop build? Don't want root or anything, just the latest, official, unbranded, firmware for it. Which is what I have as far as I can tell.
A simple Yes or No would be great.
Many thanks in advance.
First up ..... apologies. I didn't get any answers I suspect as this was too obvious a question.
I was in a hurry, so I signed up and asked quickly before I went out last night, hoping for just a yes/no. I should probably have posted this in the "Assist" forum anyway.
As it turns out, it doesn't matter. Further reading said I could flash it as it as is. So I tried. And it failed (didn't brick it, it barely got started, phone still works). Box sticker said 900A (AT&T - which is a horrible version as it turns out). Phone info said 900F (International - which would have been fine). Recovery mode though, also reported it as a 900A. Which is I think is why it failed very early trying to flash it with Odin. So it would appear it is a 900A version, which someone has managed to get a Chinese firmware onto somehow to hide it being an American version and sold it to a phone reclycling store in the UK. And it looks like they got away with it.
On that basis alone, I would be returning it. (It would never get auto-upadtes outside the USA, is hard to root, hard to update, and updates from AT&T are VERY slow and she wants stock, not CM or anything)
But it doesn't matter. It has a bigger fauly.
The blue LED on the top left stays on constantly. Even when the phone is powered down completely. Which is not right. Overnight last night, powered off, it lost almost 20% of it's battery. So it's fauly. It's going back.
Thankfully she bought it from a large, reputable, online store in the UK. So the return won't be a problem. Just hope the replacement isn't a dud as well!
hey guys i bought a brand new sealed box s7 edge 3 months ago and it suddenly got locked i called telus about the phone and they said it has been reported stolen because the owner did not pay the billsand voided the contract phone. the seller changed his number and i cant use my phone to make calls text or use data. is there anyway to unlock my phne to work? telus denied me any help. and im running 7.0

Go to the police/phone company with proof of purchase and there's a limited chance they will help you, besides that your out of luck I'm afraid

Unfortunately this is a common scam and why you should never buy contract phones from anyone anyone who cant prove to you that it isn't a contract phone don't even bother with them. You could try police but i doubt it would get anywhere...
this almost happened to me when i bought my s7e the buyer told me it wasnt on contract so i bought it and when it arrived it was a branded network phone i asked if he could prove it wasnt and he just strung me along until he got angry calling me a scammer. ha i sent it back straight away while i still had money back guarentee via eBay.
i am surprised they even told you any information about it, that information should be confidential unless you can prove you are the original contract holder.
Your options are either use it without a mobile connection or re sell the device overseas.
it will not be blocked overseas.
there is no way to unblock a blocked phone in your country. with good reason too.
the only way to fix it is to replace the motherboard that has a different IMEI.
sorry bro
Officially... you're SOL the IMEI is blocked by the carrier. However, via root methods you can change your IMEI, unfortunately I dont think were allowed to talk about that here ;P
Just root and change your IMEI, just google it
went to cell phone repair shop they did the root and imei fix. but now i am on andriod 6.0.1 and the vibrate doesnt work my phone just emits a faint beep noise instead of vibration. also LTE doesnt work stuck on 4g?. Can i upgrade to 7.0 and fix these issues?
Thanks
LTE is the same as 4G, so no need to worry. As far as the vibrating is concerned, you're on a Nougat bootloader. You have 2 options:
1. Flash a Marshmallow bootloader via Odin. (no need to wipe data and you won't lose anything): LINK
2. Flash a Nougat firmware via Odin. (there's a reset involved, so you will lose all data and root).

he cant get my vibration to work and he said u can only stay on 6.0.1 ?
You can follow the steps below to update thread bootloader yourself. The guide is for the S7 flat, but the steps are identical. Just download the bootloader provided by me in the previous post and follow the steps:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/modem-samsung-galaxy-s7-sm-g930f-t3379596
You can use only the BL file.

Just sell it in another country ? I'm french and one day an ******* sold me a S5 blacklisted by himself for having a full refund with his insurance. So after that i sold the phone in switzerland and obviously informed the guy for the status of the phone. He told me that it wasn't an issue for him and phones are blacklisted by country so no problem
so if i flash nougat firmware via odin will i be able to make calls text data etc as in will my imei stay modified?
going to attempt it this weekend hopefully and get back on nougat
HI,
I'm posting here because I am wondering if anyone can help.
I have a samsung S7 Edge. It's model SM-G935F. It's on Android 7.
It's security patch level is currently listed as Feb 2018.
I'm on the the Three UK network and I purchased this device from a Samsung branded store. If I manually check for updates it says "Your phone is up to do date".
I've spoken to support at three and they tell me that all of their S7's have had this firmware deployed. They have referred me to Samsung tech support who have talked me through a few things (which I had already tried...). I've even used Samsung Switch to check for an update.
The last message I received from Samsung support is that I'll have to wait until they get around to sending an update to my device. Meanwhile Samsung's general account say try taking it to a Samsung service centre.
So I was wondering if anyone had any advice?
Yes, I could root and deploy an issue to my device but for the moment I'd like to see if I can get the OTA update to work.
(I have insurance on this device so I'm unsure if I end up having to root it whether it could invalidate it?)
Also for work reasons I need to see if it is possible to get some support from Samsung and/or Three.
You can easily flash latest Oreo firmware through Odin.

Thanks, i know that, it wasn't the answer I was looking for.
Turns out that the supplier had handed me a chinese phone. So I am due a replacement.
To say I am not happy with Samsung's own branded UK shops would be an understatement.
Hello guys,
I bought my Galaxy S8 last year from BestBuy New York, and I need your help to figure out my issues:
- Is there a different between SM-G950U and SM-G950U1? My phone is SM-G950U1.
- I currently live in UK and till now I haven't received the last software update -Android Pie- that I'm supposed to get in late April! and have't received any security patches updates either!!
- Bixby voice is not working at all, it stopped working 4 months ago and I don't know why! I talked to Samsung US and Samsung UK and they have no clue, we tried many different way to fix it but we had no luck. I factory reset my device twice without any success either.
So please you're my last hope here to solve my issues. I'm ready to answer any questions that you might have in mind regarding my phone.
Thanks,
Yusuf.

There's almost no chance you're going to find out why you're not getting updates. If your phone isn't updating automatically you can either download the entire latest firmware and flash it with Odin or go to firmware.science and download the individual OTA files then flash them in recovery manually one by one.

More than likely you don't have that original carrier sim in it. My Verizon phone won't get updated on my daughter's TracFone sim. But when i pop in the Verizon sim it updates

I know that if I come back to U.S and insert any SIM from any major mobile company it'll be updated immediately, however, when I was in Saudi Arabia - my home country - lat year, it updated to Oreo back then, so why I got the update while I'm in Saudi and not in UK?

That i cant explain.
Hi everyone,
I purchased second hand a functional SM-G975U phone that can make phone calls and go on LTE.
On the back of the phone, in tiny writings it says model: SM-G975XU and below it states it's a live demo unit.
Now the phone has an IMEI number (from a s10e when I check the IMEI origin?) And I assume it was manually written.
My main concern is about software updates. I'm currently still on Android 9 and one UI 1.1. the phone has not received any updates since April 2019. And in the device care section of security, it says disabled.
I thought of pushing updates through Odin but my issue is the phone has firmware of Comcast but the CSC code of XAA/XAA/XAA, which is the international version of model U1, not U.
Could someone advise me on what to do? I did recontact the seller and he says he didn't know it was a demo unit and is unwilling to refund me... I feel kinda stuck here and I did spend a good amount of savings on the phone ...
Just flash the latest Unlocked G975U firmware via Odin and you should have a fully functional phone
