Just wanted to point out that the stock tw clock icon shows correct time and if you swipe around the drawer the second hand moves. That's pretty cool and not sure if anyone else noticed.

Unfortunately this only works on stock launcher.
Not really useful otherwise. The stock alarm clock is terrible too. You can't change the snooze duration, which you could do with the s4 and s5.
I use Timely for my alarm clock app now. Used to be a premium app until Google bought it and made it free.

I just bought the widget locker app from the market...BEST 2 DOLLARS EVER SPENT!!! You would not believe the features this app has. Rotary lockscreen, iphone lockscreen, widgets and shortcuts on your lockscreen. And, my favorite part, NO HAPTIC FEEDBACK ON THE SLIDER!!! I would definitly recomend this app
*I attached a screenshot. The second shot has the iphone slider. Third is sense pull-down
I actually just got this app this weekend so im fairly new to it. How'd you get all those different sliders like rotary, iphone, and sense.
Open WidgetLocker settings then check under 'Look & Feel' > 'Sliders & Layout'.

Cool thanks!
I like the app but the couldn't get the security pattern to work with it. It was either a double lockscreen with a pattern, or no pattern at all. If they had that working I'd buy it again
Meh. Its ok. Not quite the best two bucks I ever spent. Its a little slow starting and doesn't actually replace the stock lock screen so much as cover over it. When u wake the phone u see a flash of the stock slider before widget locker takes over. Petty, but that annoys me. Using unlock patterns with it is also flakey. I do like the app, but in its current state its more the quality of a free app. Hopefully they continue to dev and provide some updates. If not, I don't figure ill be using it long.
That about sums it up. Neat app, needs work. If you have 2 bucks to spare, give it a try.

Hmmm, to bad. The settings are really touchy and you definitly dont have it right if your seeing the stock lockscreen when you wake the phone. To bad people put negative feedback out there when they dont even know how it works, see it all the time with apps in the market

I get same thing, the app can't open itself fast enough all the time to cover up the default lock screen. It is a cool app but not worth 2 dollars when there are so many apps out there that offer more for less.
No free app I know of let's you customize sliders and put widgets and shortcuts on the lock screen. You can bypass the 5 second transition from stock lock screen to widget locker in the settings.
Not meaning to sound negative. It is a cool app. I just expect a paid app to be a bit more refined. Less buggy, let's say. I will continue using and playing with it for a while.

some reboots when unlocking, and sometimes the stock lock screen appears before widget locker. I have changed the settings both using root bypass and home helper. Both of those options alleviate the issue, but do not fix it entirely.
Just a broad general thread about good alarm clocks apps as per thread title. I'm looking for an app that potentially could export my alarm mp3's out to external speakers to make it louder. I need something louder since I have to be at work at 4am.

Buy a mechanical alarm clock and put it into a big empty (8qt.or bigger) cooking pan.
works like a charm.
PS. I'm personally prefer Alarm Clock Plus.
Alarm Klock
it has a feature volume fade 0%-> 100% over 120 seconds
all configurable...
it is great not to have a loud sound right away
plus it has a snooze (+5 min incremental)
and a dismiss that is a "slide to dismiss" similar to apple unlock screen
I've been using "Alarm Clock Plus" for a couple years now as my primary alarm clock. I have yet to have an issue with it. Lots of features - and it will play an MP3 (at least through phone speaker and bluetooth - never tried the headphone jack). It's simple to use, has many features, and is supported by the developer.
That's my $.02
I love the stock alarm clock. Awesome basic features.

gentle alarm was free on amazon app store some time ago, that has fade in features as well as a pre alarm that is more quiet to try to wake you when you are not in deep sleep

This is the one I am using too. Works great and has a lot of features.
I have never tried it but I think Tunein Radio has an alarm clock function.

I've been looking for a good Alarm App, as MyFrankenstein does not seem to allow for different sounds other than the stock five.. Have always dug the Alarm in the ACE ROM's. I will give Gentle Alarm a shot. Thanks!!!

+1. Great app, worth they money
Alarm Clock Plus appears to be everything I was looking for.. Thanks for the feed back.. I really dig the many and different tones to choose from as well. Thanks you everyone. The olny thing extra I could ask for is a sliding disable like the ASOP lock screen, but I can certainly live with this one.
Alarm Clock Xtreme Free is what I'm using. You can customize just about every aspect of the alarm and snooze.
I have mine set to fade in an mp3 from 0-100% volume over 45 seconds, and I have to solve two math problems to dismiss. I turned off the snooze option.
This is my favorite and most useful app on my phone, period.

i used koeler clock its real nice , but after 6 months it has screen burn in now , so i dont recommend any nighttime desk type clock, as you may get screen burn in
Ewww.. Yuk! Thanks!!!
Installed UrbanFury ROM last night and the stock clock has a very nice alarm clock with the colored ASOP-like sliding disable. I likeee.
Check out Go Contacts EX.... it brings back the smart dialer + some... also has a very cool UI and it's themeable.
I would also encourage freezing the stock gallery and using QuickPic.... the stock gallery is a CPU hog.
+1 to Go contact EX I LOVE IT.
The GO team has great apps out i love all of them.
Did you see the new one? The GO CLOCK or something? has a good skin, but it takes a bit of battery bcz it has a flip animation. It's their first clock widget so it does have a few problems, it tells me its AM/PM opposite times, there are no options to change anything but theme yet so thats a problem as well. Hopefully next update brings more options.
I'll try quickpic, looks good, but i havent seen anything bad from my default gallery either...
edit: it was called Gowidgets Clock:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex.gowidget.clockwidget
^ stock gallery kills CPU. QuickPic has more options and uses less resources / faster.
Which quick pic? There are many on the market

Never mind. It looks lifer only one
Is an actual gallery app
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
At first glance it looks like the dialer doesn't have the left/right swipe to either call or message which I liked and I don't see an option in quickpic to include picasa photos
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
^ I included it in the OP... and I actually dislike having picasa synced, I just use the site if I need it. I prefer lighter/faster apps.
Try to make my lock screen more efficient or helpful. I have been trying several lock screen replacements/widgets recently. Wondering if I am missing any good ones and wonder what everyone else uses?
Stock? Stock w/dashclock? Widget locker? Cover? Start? Other? Let me know, thanks!

I tried cover, I don't understand peek really. I mean I get it, you can peek at the app, but you can only see so much before you have dragged it to the point where it just unlocks. And I don't have a lot of variation in my useage, so my apps list was mostly the same no matter where I was. I do like that it can change wallpapers based on where you are though. If they could incorporate the ability to change lockscreen widgets based on location that might make it better for me.
I like dashclock widget, but I hate that I have to expand it in order to actually click on my message to open into the messaging app. But I think I found an xposed mod to fix that, gonna try it out.

I've always used 5 home screens; the main screen, 2 to the left, and 2 to the right. With my new Turbo 2, it appears that swiping left does absolutely nothing? Is there any way to change that?
I know I can download Nova or another 3rd party launcher, but I like the notification count on apps like gmail that i don't think is available on non-stock launchers. Thoughts?
Thanks!
That's default behavior of Android launcher, since LP I think. Just checked AOSP on my tablet and is the same. CM on my phone can set another second screen to be home so you' get left and right screen from home.
You can use notification count on Nova premium. All you need to do is download tesla unread and it will give notifications for text email even whatsapp
