Stuck in bootloop how do I get into fastboot? - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't have a custom recovery and i'm in a bootloop I can't figure out how to get into fastboot or recovery using hardware keys. Please help. Thanks.
Edit: Okay I took a wild guess and figured it out. If you are wondering the same hold the button on the bottom down while the device is booting until the led on the device starts blinking. =)

I had the same issue and can confirm that this is the right method

Nexus Q Installed custom recovery but when I reboot into recovery there is no picture

Like the title, there is no picture in recovery. I cant install anything if I cant see it. Anyone knows why this is? The monitor is detecting an input but the input is all black. The Q's red leds do light up.

And flash red ring red dot?
If you spin the dome fast enough you get Google colors. Nifty.
I had the same problem. Turns out some people have to boot it from recovery instead of installing and adb reboot recovery. I had to do this when I was installing cm.

I had the same issue when booting into recovery via adb. Now my Q goes straight into flash red dot/circle-spin-to-google mode when i plug in power. Seemed that I had bricked ... erh.. sphered the bastard, but left it to itself for some time, and eventually it booted up normally.
How can I get to recovery if not via adb? CM site says hold Volume Down and Power, but that seems... copy/pasted

fastboot boot recovery.img
that should work.
or maybe you didn't get a good recovery image. There are ones out there that don't have the squished screen issue that birds does.
edit: fastboot boot, not adb boot.

I think you are trying to ask which recoveries don't have the issue so, here you go.
I think this is the one i used.

Bricked....but different than what others are describing

Ok guys, I somehow managed to brick my beloved G2.
Not exactly sure how I managed to do it. I had just flashed the latest Paranoid Android rom and tried to reboot the phone and it locked up.
Here's what I'm getting when I try to boot the phone:
It very briefly flashes the pink/white LG logo then goes to a blank/black screen with the following info in the upper left of the screen:
[640] Fastboot mode started
[690] udc_started()
[850] -- reset --
[860] -- portcharge --
[910] fastboot: processing commands
Then it just sits there. I tried opening a command window and executing "fastboot reboot-bootloader". The phone responds and reboots, but gives the same info as above. Then I tried "fastboot continue". Here's what it spits out:
[76930] fastboot: continue
[76880] partition_get_size 16777216 bytes
[77050] Loading boot image (5564416): start
[77300] Loading boot image (5564416): done
[77350] ERROR: Appended Device Tree Blob not found
At this point I'm totaly out of ideas. And I don't want to mess things up any more than what I've already done.
So am I screwed? Or is this recoverable?
Oh, BTW, it's a Verizon LG G2, and I had TWRP installed. I had successfully been using TWRP and flashing a few other ROMs and I have a couple backups on the phone if I can get into recovery.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Have you tried the button combo to get into recovery and restore a back-up (I believe it's holding vol down and power until LG logo, then releasing and holding them again).
As a last resort, have to tried returning to stock (which will erase everything)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
Yeah, I tried the buttons but the phone just comes up into the screen that I mentioned before.
I didn't try going back to stock as shown in the link you posted, but I'm in the process of trying another method of unbricking the phone.
Here's the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471370&highlight=bricked
Well that didn't work. I can get the phone into download mode and the LG software recognizes the phone but the phone doesn't do anything. It just sits at the update screen, at 0%.
Any ideas, guys?
My idea is to steer clear of these so called stable ROMs. ..I been check-in md5s like no bodies business on this phone. I only trust Scott and Jake right now.

Did you try the vzw specific method to return to stock?
Not yet but I will give it a try. I'm currently downloading the rom's tot file. It's big and it's taking forever. I'll post back if I have any luck.
Thanks guys.
I have had a similar issue fast boot mode started black screen then stuck on boot loop. Have u resolved or want my steps?

While on black screen hold power and volume down till u get lg screen
Then keep holding it will go black and led light flashes red like 10 times.
Then let go it should be powered off.
If it isnt or is hold same buttons down again. Depending on what it does I held same buttons till LG logo came up again. Either it will quickly flash or flash the logo for like 5 secs. If 5 secs then let go and quickly hold power button. If not hold all three buttons and see.
Its happed to me like 3 or 4 times and thru trial and error i managed to get white hard reset screen then hit power. Or security error screen and i used the same steps. Let me know

It finished downloading while I was asleep so I haven't actually finished this method. Yeah, before I go any further, what did you do to fix your phone? I'd really appreciate it!

Doh! It was right in front of me, in your post, if I'd just read the entire thing!!
Anyhow.....OMG!! Got it the first time. Just like you described it. Just for anyone else that falls into this problem:
Hold power & down volume buttons until it powers off....and stays off, then release buttons. Then hold same buttons again (power & down volume) until the LG logo comes up and stays up. (You'll know it's going to stay up......because if it doesn't....the logo is only visible for a second at most before it goes back to the black fastboot screen.) Then release and hit power button again. It came up to a white factory reset screen, as razrlover described. Hit the power button to accept the factory reset......... At this point my phone booted into TWRP and I was able to restore a previous backup. Boom.....just like it didn't even happen!!
But here's the big question....what happened??????? I know I'm not alone with this problem now. What did we do to get stuck like we did??
Anyone with any ideas? Hopefully we can figure this out so no one else has this problem.

N900W8 stuck during boot

Hey all,
I have just run into an issue, I was installing CWM and all seemed well, but then when I had tried to boot into recovery by holding down the buttons.
However, when it would say recovery booting it would flash turn off and reboot.
I figured it was just an issue with how I was trying to get into the recovery so I used ADB to Reboot into recovery, and that went fine but now I am in a boot loop of the phone trying to get into recovery but when it isnt seeing CWM for some reason it just reboots and continues the cycle.
I would appreciate if anyone has any insight as to how I can fix this or lets hope its not this but if Im screwed at this point.
Thanks in advance,
nEmo
Gahh... This is really getting to me, I've tried everything I can think of.
No one out there has any ideas?
I know Im not being very patient but its the only phone I have access to right now
It almost seems like there is either no OS on it (I hadn't wiped anything at this point) so this is the least likely,
or there was something wrong with the version of CWM that I was trying to use.
I think why I can't connect anything or do anything like that is because it keeps trying to look for the recovery
but because CWM isn't properly there it just keeps looking for it and just keeps on going in that loop.
would love to hear from anyone.
Thanks again.

there is also temporary state for recovery and that might be the cause of this
so try to reflash recovery through adb

Thanks for the reply, I would love to do that but the part that it actually gets stuck at is before any of the OS is loaded,
What happens is when there is power to it (ie battery or when plugged into a wall socket) it will try to boot as if I had held
down the vol +, Power and home and get the "recovery booting" text, from here the screen turns off and vibrates, a second or two later it reboots and repeats.
I might try to get a video of it tomorrow.
Thanks again,

Hello, so as the title mentioned, I am in something of a similar predicament. Odin Mode is stuck, and it won't recognize any recovery on the phone. How do you boot into fastboot? Could you describe what you did? Thank you in advance.
Odin mode and recovery mode are two different things. You can't get into download mode where you see the android with the shovel?

Need help to get into recovery mode

Let's get the major possible error out of here first. Make sure you wait for at least 45 minutes for the ROM to boot before trying anything else. Next, you must hold volume up+power button not till you get the vibration but till you see the ASUS logo. I too was stuck for quite some time till I realized that.

HELP NEEDED . Flashing issues and know only black screen...

Hello, i really need your help.
I tried to flash a stock rom with Platform Flash Tool Lite. During the Flashing there where no issues but something went wrong during booting the device. And now the device wont boot up anymore. All i get is a black screen as if the screen is dead. I cant get into fastboot / recovery mode, too... "Adb devices" gets no entry... from time to time as i hit the physical buttons like "power" "volup" and "voldown" the yogabook would react, meaning there is a vibration...
Does anyone knows any hint? Any help is appreciated...
i forgot to mention. The led (located at the usb port) flashes from time to time...
