I've been using 4.6BETA5 for a while on my i9300 - very happy with it overall.
When the 5.1 OTA update appeared on my phone I backed-up and tried it and - erm - things didn't go well at all. Note that I've tried 5.1 ROMs before and they're not played well on the i9300 but I thought I'd try again.
The OTA installed on the 2nd attempt (the first attempt just rebooted the phone and did nothing) - it did the "Android is updating" run through all the apps (over 110 of them) - took a while - then rebooted and seemed to be working OK.
After a while I got the "Google App Support wants to update" notification - which just takes you to the Play Store and does nothing, so I ignored it. It disappeared for a while after each reboot but would always come back (and I'd forcibly updated all the apps I had) - no biggie tho.
After a day-or-so, com.android.phone started to terminate - repeatedly - eventually doing this virtually constantly, even after a reboot or battery pull! I suspect this coincided with network problems (UK, O2 network) but I can't be sure because I never got it to work again!!
I did a Factory Reset - both from the Settings Menu and then from ClockworkMod - in both cases I just ended-up going back through the "Android is updating" process and getting stuck in a "Setup has stopped working" loop when the phone restarted...
So I wiped everything and restored my backup of 4.6 - glad I took it!! - you may want to proceed with caution on this OTA - backup mandatory and all that!!

I got an e-mail from HTC support updating a ticket I had in about there being an update that solves the problem so I went back to a nandroid with stock Sense that was rooted. I checked for updates but the only one showing was to go to 1.32.405.6 (I think) which is quite old. I decided to try installing it and then check again after it had updated. Unfortunately that's where I'm stuck and I'm not sure what to do.
I downloaded the update via WiFi and let it reboot where I'm now stuck at a screen with the triangle ! update but also an android logo guy. I've never seen that before but I'm guessing it's not a good thing. I had a full charge before I let it start the install and I'm still at that screen now unsure if I should pull the battery. It's been on that screen for over five minutes now.
Crisis averted. I got bored waiting for it to move so I pulled the battery and restarted it, working fine now but I keep getting the prompt that the update is ready to install. How do you get rid of that?
OK got that sorted now too. Restoring another nandroid backup cleared it.
You probably had OTA updates box unticked in your working nandroid backup.
You'll find the option to turn it on / off here:
Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Software Updates
Glad you're sorted though
Hi all,
I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. Here's the situation:
A few weeks ago, I updated and rooted my SGS4 to 4.4.2 using Odin. Worked alright, but kept getting random restarts. Did a factory reset, and all was good.
A few days ago, PlayStore had an update for SuperSU, so I applied it. The random restarts returned, so I considered doing a factory reset, but found that Titanium Backup wasn't allowing me to do any new backups because I had insufficient space. I didn't really - I had plenty of space. A little googling lead me to here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2675778
I followed the instructions, rebooted my phone, and was bombarded with [app] has stopped working right away. Thinking this was no good, and I had somehow messed something important up, I did a factory reset anyway with the hopes of just restoring back to my backups from a few weeks ago.
Things got even worse - I'm now stuck on the Samsung welcome screen, where it wants me to put in my wifi password, but Myscript Resource Manager keeps failing, making the keyboard disappear. I now have no way to get back into my phone.
The TL;DR version:
I factory reset my phone, but can't get past the 'Enter Wifi Password' part of setting it up becuase Myscript Resource Manager keeps failiing.
Things I've tried:
* Wiping Cache data
* Factory Resets (again)
* Reflashing my phone with the 4.4.2 update that worked for me a few weeks ago
Does anyone have any other ideas?
The only way was to reflash from Odin, fresh firmware. Download different version of your firmware, other than the one you stated. And reflash back with Odin, make sure your steps using Odin is correct.
Thanks for the reply. I finally got it working after my third time flashing it and formatting the cache a few times. Scary stuff!
Alas, the sporadic reboot still continues, so I'll have to work out how to fix that problem again now.
Thanks again.

I just had the same problem, spontaneously, from an unidentified source. Went to my carrier's, AT&T, local Device Support Center on a Sunday at noon, and one of the techs fixed the problem in under 3 minutes, impressively simply.
You will have to keep clicking OK when the error message repeatedly appears to continue with this process. That is normal.
Go to Settings > Application Manager > (scroll right to: ) ALL > (scroll down to: ) My Script Resource Manager (which should not be running) > Turn Off
Problem solved without Factory Reset. She impressed me and saved me a lot of time.
Just so everyone's aware, I got this boot loop too today with the following scenario:
Completely stock 6p, upto date with latest MM, never been rooted, flashed, whatever.
Signed up for beta N programme today
Immediately got the N OTA update
Installed it - it rebooted post install but back into MM not N.
Rebooted - it got stuck on the Google logo for 30 minutes
Rebooted - permanent boot loop
I can get into the recovery menu and bootloader, and have tried sideloading the latest 7 OTA but still have the bootloop. Reset/cache clearing all tried.
Annoyingly my bootloader is locked - I've never tried doing anything other than installing standard OTA updates from Google so was unaware that unlocking it might save my bacon until it was too late.
I guess it's a phone call to Google tomorrow....
Update - sideloading this installed OK but I still have the boot loop:
6.0.1 (MTC20F) Link 5a1e93e9974908a0683a4ac8a732b81023f4b01182fd3ead3f091f54300de5ce
So all is not lost. I have an unlocked bootloader, but everything else the same as you. Doesn't really matter as I'm unable to flash anything....even updated my android SDK.
Anyway, I too signed up for Android beta program this morning, and instantly got the N update. Boom bootloop. Non stop. Most I could get it was 20 minutes after a factory reset.
What has worked for me (since 12pm today) was a factory reset and upon signing in to setup. I didn't. I set it up like it was brand new and didn't take ANY restore of apps or data from Google. I added my Gmail after and it's up and running with no reboots for 8 hours now.
It really sucks. The only thing I was able to salvage were my ringtones and notification sounds. It's like starting with a brand new phone ( froyo days without titanium backup). Google has a list of all your apps in the store but reinstalling all of them and logging in is a real pia. Been at it all day. But I do have a functioning stable Android 7.
So I've finally got to upgrade from A10 to A11. I was unable to follow the guides for doing local upgrades, because of my previously mentioned "No changelog" and "System Update Installation Failed" message the moment you selected the upgrade package. I tried multiple downloads and verified hashes, this wasn't a corrupted download. So I ended up having to Wipe data to get to a stock A10 and then upgrade using local upgrade. That was Sunday. Since then, I've rooted, restored my apps, lived happily on A11....for about 1-2days before I'd wake up a bootloop. The phone would just be sitting on the spinning Oneplus logo without me knowing why we got here. Even stranger, I had NoLimits installed, so I should be seeing that instead of Oneplus.
Attempting to fastboot boot any of my boot images still keeps me in a boot loop, not much to do other than to wipe and try again....So wipe, on A11 stock, root, restore apps and go on my way....Worked great yesterday. again all apps were restored, things were working, no issues. And then I woke up this morning to find issues with Facebook app (images not loading). Okay, whatever, something may be corrupt, just wait for an update from them. Multiple apps in Playstore need an update, great...do those. But then Oneplus Gallery refuses to update...hmmm. Catlog/Logcat refuse to open with insta-crashes. Facebook nolonger has the corrupt image issue, it just insta-crashes.......uh oh......maybe a reboot?.....rebooted and then stuck on NoLimits bootscreen for about 2 minutes....after 2 minutes it reboots and I'm back to being stuck on Oneplus boot image.
So I'm out of ideas now. about to wipe and go back to A10, because I can't for the life of me find a connection to all of this and its getting tedious to restore apps (especially 2fa apps).
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi!
I have had annoying bootloops when making a call.
It connects to a call and then boom, goes dark and reboots by its self. Very annoying.
I have 2 SIM cards on use, dont know If that matters.
Iam suspecting the network connection change during call -setting has something to do with it...
Hope there is an update coming soon to fix this.
Yea I have 2 sims as well (TMo and GoogleFi) so that's an interesting point. We finally now have dual-sim (US/Glo).
I'm currently testing out how long i can go with my current setup: Just A11 + Root + NoLimits....wait about 2-3days, then try LuckyPatcher (best way I know to remove ads), 2-3days, and then continue testing other ideas).
Hi!
First: Sorry for any miss spelling.
I successfully installed Marsmallow on my device with a weird way, but I have a problem with it.
It turns on well and I can use it (no bootloop or freeze on HTC logo).
After a random amount time, it seemingly freezes and exactly 10 secs after, it restasts itself from the HTC logo.
First, my way of installing 6.0:
I experienced the 25% error when I first tried to install 6.0 with the legit OTA software upgrade with my Europe version M9 plus (I Don't remember it's original build number, but this is a European modell). So I started the trial/error way of upgrading.
First thing was, bootloader unlock, and factory reset through recovery.
Second was finding here on xda a RUU collection for this device here
And I downloaded this one:
0PK7IMG_HIAU_ML_TUHL_L50_SENSE70_MR_HTC_Europe_1.85.401.6_Radio_1.1506V24P21.2005.0505_HT[W.T]_release_446584_signed.zip
I renamed and installed it with download mode.
I barely set it up, knowing what is my goal, and started OTA from there.
In short:
3 security update popped up for Lollipop, and then the first Marsmallow update.
It got through the 25% error, and installed without any problem, and with many update reboot.
After it booted, I checked if any more update was available and a second (security/bug fix) update popped up. (More on that later)
I did not updated thinking I got this far I might as well set it up (it is my daily driver).
I started to download my apps, but in the middle of it, freeze and automatic reboot.
I though it was okay, I continued the downloads and got into the settings to set that up... random freeze and reboot.
These happened random , not related to anything
I started to worry so I did that update.
After that, the problem remained, but less frequent and still seemingly unrelated.
What I tried:
Safe mode - nothing changed.
Factory reset - nothing changed.
First setup, then cache reset - nothing changed.
Keeping the phone's temperature low and monitoring it - nothing changed except it was cooler a bit of course.
Tried to block every possible app (even some system apps) without root access and using it a bit - nothing changed.
I tried these with the first 6.0 update as well.
This is where I need help. Any ideas what is the problem? I can post screenshots if needed.
I really like this phone despite the negative reviews and the lack of custom roms.
Thanks for every question and answer!
