So, scrolling through G+, I came across this link;
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s6-gaining-manual-exposure-control-android-5-1-611730/
Reading through it got me a little excited, to say the least. Not only decent manual exposure control, but RAW format pictures for the best postprocessing capabilities for the serious phone photographer!
No mention in the article about memory fixes or anything, but 5.1 is only weeks away ^_^ fingers crossed!
What else can we expect from this update, do you think?
Awwwwww shiiii this is what I've been waiting for .let the fun begin

All I know so far is what is in the link I posted. If I find anything else, I'll keep you updated
Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge to Receive Official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS Update in June as Software Already in Testing Phase
http://en.yibada.com/articles/35289...june-as-software-already-in-testing-phase.htm
I haven't seen anything yet that says RAW and shutter control WILL be coming with 5.1, just speculation that it will.
Along with an easier way to control exposure, both Samsung devices should also receive support for RAW image capture and shutter speed control in the update to Android 5.1.

Before you ask, yes, some T-Mobile users already have received the update to 5.1.1 on their Galaxy S6 Edge, and no, there weren’t any camera changes present.

the publication speculates that Samsung may be adding support for the full Google camera API on Lollipop, which would bring RAW shooting, shutter speed control, and more.

It would be nice if these things are implemented, but I'm not getting my hopes up, especially with only speculation being reported and nothing official.

Well rogers is Canadian. My Telus Note 4 got lollipop about 3 weeks before the T-Mobile N4. Sprint and Verizon I think had it before. So maybe there is some hope.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920AZ
Sprint has been rolling out updates suprisingly quick...probably their effort to maintain the customer base they have. ?
With the GSM variants especially the Multi CSC ones like the Canadian 920W8, carriers need not do anything except make sure their bloat works and the APNs are correct since the bloat is only installed upon first boot. The biggest delay is probably hosting it on their OTA servers and deploying it cause they are in no way touching the core OS or FW itself!

It will probably take them at least a month (unfortunately)
The 'Very Soon' didn't really sound like 'In a couple days'. I may agree with above. About 2-4 weeks is my prediction (purely speculation)
If I bought a GE I'd almost feel like I got duped - considering the major selling point was the timely stock updates.
2-4 weeks is timely compared to how it works now.

It does suck for those who actually got fooled with the GPe devices. It SHOULDN'T take them that long as they clearly have been working on it since the leaks have surfaced. I'm just ready to laugh when we see a partially working AOSP 4.3 build up before HTC releases the official OTA.

Well it only has been a couple hours since they announced it. The whole point of the GE was to get updates similar to the Nexus devices and if HTC can at least release it this week i will be happy . If not, this (sadly) is my last HTC phone as i have had several bad experiences with them already (but that is a whole different topic).
My window to return is today, so I may opt to return it, in favor of waiting to see what the Moto X announcement will be.
If that turns out to be a mediocre device then I may just opt to hop back on the One.
My biggest issue is paying $640 and not getting updates for weeks, but as already said here, it's only been a few hours lol.
4.3 doesn't sound like much of an update. A lot of little stuff, not much of which will be apparent to the user unless you let your kids use your phone all the time.
How fast this gets rolled out to the GE phones is not something to get exercised about, IMO.

To be honest i don't think the Moto X will be any better as far as updates go. It will most likely ship with 4.3, but it is also a big step back as far as specs go (according to the leaked spec sheets)

I mostly care about the performance improvements. Other than that i won't use any of the multi-user features (i think that is pretty much the only new "feature" added as everything else seems to be under the hood optimizations and/or improvements.)

Edit: it may not be HTC/Samsung saying it directly, but it is in fact on the actual device page and it repetitively says you will have the latest and greatest updates from Google.

Thanks, I've edited my post. I found a few news stories as well about it. I hope it actually comes true.
So according to this the Verizon Nexus 6 will come with 5.1 Lollipop. Does this mean that Motorola will rollout Lollipop to the DT around this time? And will it be 5.1 Lollipop?
Verizon's Nexus 6 could arrive very soon http://www.engadget.com/2015/02/27/verizon-nexus-6/ via Engadget Android
Update: Its been confirmed that the Nexus 6 will drop on Verizon tomorrow and with 5.1 Lollipop. No word on a locked down BL though.
Google's Nexus 6 will finally reach Verizon on March 12th http://www.engadget.com/2015/03/11/google-nexus-6-for-verizon/ via Engadget Android
While the Nexus 6 has been confirmed to have 5.1, no word has been given about the DT being upgraded to 5.1 or any other version of Lollipop as of yet.
So according to what?
Sorry forgot to attach the link - OP updated
I'm hoping we are updated by then, but I seriously doubt that it will be 5.1, most likely 5.0.2 which has been cycling through the Moto line.

True, we most likely get 5.1, I just don't think this update. Most likely the next update, which should be faster once we are on lollipop.

Nope... U think Verizon sits n adds bloat n release the software? Nope.... They give the apps that need to be added to Moto's software Developers... the Verizon framework is allover the System partition on the turbo, so its not just adding a bunch of apps its integrated deep... Then Motorola makes loads of builds with one build a day n test the siftware on prototype phones... Once they feel the software is stable enough then send it to Verizon for approval... If Verizon is not satisfied with the bloat, they reject it and Motos gotta start adding the bloat n test it out again...
Not holding my breath on any updates soon on the Turbo. This phone has been out for over half a year now with nothing in the works. For a near stock phone I'm not sure why it's taking a back seat to all of these other devices that are getting Lollipop. So much for my decision to go with a Motorola device because of a so-called quick update schedule.

Nothing in the works eh? So there have been NO updates then?
Oh and its been 4 months, but what's rounding it up by another two gonna hurt? It makes it more dramatic.
Everyone wants Lollipop, but doesn't care that it is less stable than Kitkat. Lollipop is just another ICS repeat. ICS didn't start becoming truly stable until 4.1, which Google for some reason deserved a name change. It took forever for devices to update to ICS, and by the time some did, Jellybean was out. Lollipop is a full point release, and major Android overhaul. This is not a 4.0 -> 4.1 -> 4.3 -> 4.4 transition. This is a 4.4 -> 5.0 transition and major parts of Adroid have been reworked. It isn't just a theme. It hasn't been a smooth launch. Verizon is strict with their testing, and we all know that. They are not going to let an OS less stable than its predecessor pass testing on one of their flagship devices. Despite what you want to believe, the Turbo is their specific flagship and they will want it to be the most stable.
Hey, I want Lollipop too. However, Im willing to take the instability with it. Verizon apparently is not after seeing how it fared on the X. The truth has always been out there, no matter how much people want to ignore it: If you want the ultimate network and stability, you got Verizon. If you want bleeding edge software on your devices, you go elsewhere.
So to be frank, anyone who bought the Turbo expecting blazing fast updates should blame their own misconceptions.
You can get excited about two minor updates with imperceptible bug fixes but I'm referring to OS updates.

Then you shouldn't be on Verizon. Verizon has had a few quick updates over the years, but it doesn't erase all the slow ones.
This is nothing new.
It sucks, but sometimes the bitter truth is what people need. I only stick with Verizon because I am potentially on call 24/7 and my phone at work is tied into my cell phone. I need a reliable carrier and due to where I live, where I travel, and where I work, Verizon is the most reliable.

By far most reliable for me. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the concept of XLTE or how it ties in with VoLTE but since the DT had it's second VoLTE update I haven't dropped one call and with XLTE I'm on LTE 97% even underground here in Chicago. And I make a lot of calls everyday. We all want updates as soon as possible but as long as what we have works then I can wait.

for me, I'm in no rush. unless lollipop fixes this extremely laggy phone I can care less. this phone, as powerful as the specs say it is, is a slow, laggy, bad camera POS. I'm eligible for jump on 9/25 and it cannot come soon enough. I had a Moto X before this, and I was happy with it. the Note 4 is full of disappointment. I don't see how all of the early reviews were so positive for it, the moto x had embarrassing specs but performed perfect, the camera wasn't good but I preferred it over this one, at least it opened and focused quickly.
I still wouldnt call it a "rush" though when its the slowest to market.

I have been using the unmodified port of SM-N910W8 Lollipop firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...t-unmodified-port-sm-n910w8-lollipop-t3072920) for a while now and it has made my phone better. That said i rather wait for the tmo version without bugs instead of right now and render my phone unusable. Also there are many 5.0 roms already out which are infinite better than anything tmo can ever gives us .

I agree with a lot of what was said here, but if you're on XDA, why not root and flash a custom ROM if you're unhappy with your phone? I've tried at least 4 ROMs for the Note 4 (and many more with the Note 3) and have found at least a couple are almost perfect and most have been far superior to stock in every way. And I'm just talking about normal performance; with root you also have the ability to add and subtract apps and features and theme your device and truly make it yours. With a custom ROM and all the options and performance root brings, we really won't need to update for years from the current OS. But if Samsung would lighten up TouchWiz, the updates would come faster.

In this video we match the Note 5 against the LG G4 in an all out brawl to the death. The first round tests the phones ability to launch apps while the second round tests multitasking performance. I was very much surprised by the results. The Note 5 has to reload every app in the second round while I found the on screen buttons of the LG G4 to be a bit cumbersome for the purposes of this test. Jumping to the homescreen to launch the next app was much easier with the Note 5's physical button. Which phone has performed better for you?
note 5 can get better at the second run with future updates. the lg is as fast as it will ever get.

Don't be so sure. I've had the S6 Edge since it launched and it's had that memory management issue the entire time. Have to reload the app on every launch. Then they just released 2 more flagships with the same exact problem.

Why would you presume if the Note 5 could get a performance update, the LG wouldn't get a performance update from its manufacturer ?
Likewise this is not a 'new issue' affecting a new SOC. It's been a lingering issue on the S6 & S6 Edge for months and we have not seen a fix, and despite an extra 1gb of ram - the Note 5 is suffering the same aggressive ram issues.
Video and relevant threads are on my Twitter account. I suggest you guys tweet the same thing ending with the #RAMGATE. Lets draw some attention. RT through my twitter account if you'd like or make your own tweets. This type of issue shouldn't crop up like that on such a new device.

Already been down that route. It was my own S6 Edge Aggressive Ram thread and the equivalent S6 Aggressive Ram threads that were all reported on when the issue first cropped up on the S6 & S6 Edge. (Google the issue, look at the news article and click on sources - they all link back to our threads), however there has been no fix or official acknowledgement by Samsung. The fact they have released new devices (even with extra ram) with the same issue persistent would leave me to believe it's never going to get addressed unfortunately.

I bet it doesn't. What I can bet though is that I will be unlocking my bootloader to let a real dev address the issue. This is ridiculous. 4 gigs of ram only to reload every app? I guess the OS needs to save precious resources for s-health and other useless apps. So annoying.

I bet it at least get's fixed in marshmallow. I can't imagine they would fix it under lollipop with it's EOL coming up soon.

I doubt it. The issue is also on the S6 and Samsung has made no attempt at fixing it there.

And what exactly are you betting? What evidence or proof do you have that even gives you that idea?
What do you know that we don't? Do you work for Samsung? For LG?
Or.. Was this just made up?
i can confirrm this.
mine stopped pandora if it feels like it might slow me down which is crazy consider this thing has a 4GB RAM
hopefully XDA guys can fix this but won't hold my breath since this thing is running exynos
Hey guys!
I don't know if you already heard it but the Galaxy S6 lineup will probably receive Android 8.0. Many Samsung employees confirmed that and there is already a leaked list of devices which will get the update. Today I noticed that not only the S6 was mentioned on that list... the Galaxy Tab S2 will probably receive the update as well! In my opinion it is really great to see that the first premium devices from Samsung will get another update
What do you think?

What do I think? Your post is misleading. This is nothing official...
Indeed nothing official. It's mostly rumors and leaks at the very best. BUT I wont lie, I want this to happen and that'll be awesome!

I wouldn't get too excited. That list is just devices that could potentially run Oreo. It does not mean they will actually get the update. There's a good few on there that I'm certain wont. Would you really think the Tab series would get Oreo when they didn't even get nougat or Marshmallow?

Right, it looks like I misread the image. It seemed that the original Tab series was included. In reflection its actually the header. :silly:

I made the same mistake when I saw it the first time?
Maybe we will get Samsung Experience 9.0 with the update. It would be very great to get some S8/S9 UI feauters
If Samsung's track record holds of two major version updates per flagship device, the 2016 Tab S2 should get Oreo. The 2015 may or may not - I guess it depends on whether Sammy is feeling generous.
I'm not sure who would hope their device doesn't get the update? While it's possible Samsung could pull an Apple stunt and kill performance with an Oreo update, that generally hasn't been an issue. In reality, it will just be security patches and support for newer apps. The days of new Android versions bringing sea changes of improvements appear to be in the past.

I agree Samsung seem to give 2 major updates to their flagships and higher spec devices.
The S2(2) should get Oreo. I'd say unlikely the S2(1)will see it.
As a 2015 owner, all I want for the last major update is a stable build without any major bugs. From then on, I'd just like the same build with the security updates. The current Nougat is pretty solid but the screen brightness does keep going up and down on some occasions.
i would love to see something for the 819N, i mean there isn't even any custom roms for that version of the tablet, i hope at least samsung goes oreo for it.
How you get it ? What is the name of app ? @edan1979

Thank you my friend.

Probably 2016 model can hope for it because it has been shipped with 6.0 and also is not sure...but 2015 model should kill the idea because has been shipped with 5.0.1. Even if we could run oreo Sammy will never give a third major update to a 2015 device, even if the only difference between 2015 and 2016 is the CPU (correct me if i'm wrong)
I think it's crazy how Samsumg abandons its own products. I can understand their budget devices getting updates, but this is their only tablet line. Not to mention they were selling these for $400+ a pop (i got mine out of a pricing error for $200 though).
Just shows you that iPad should be the only tablet product to purchase from here on out... I think the last year and a couple months I've owned this it's been updated a whopping 3 times! Never again will I buy Samsung.

How do you mean their only tablet line? There's also the Tab A, Tab E, Tab pro, plus older Tab 2, 3, 4 etc.
