Touch screen becomes unresponsive any ideas? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I just rooted my galaxy s4, i have gotten it replaced because it broke. So i rooted this and everything shows it was successful. I put a recovery on (first twrp and then CWM) but what i noticed is when i was using twrp everything worked fine until the screen turned off. as some of you may know once the screen turns off and turns back on with twrp you have to swipe to unlock. but once i try to unlock the touchscreen becomes unresponsive. It weird because it only happens after that screen turns off. I also come across the problem once i flash a ROM on the phone the touch screen doesnt work as well. anyone have any ideas? may i have possibly rooted it wrong or something?

No, rooting would not cause that issue. With TWRP you can set the screen timeout higher so it doesn't turn off the screen.

Help! Something wrong when I boot up my phone!

Guys,
I like to check with you all whether any solution for the below problem :
Every time I boot up my phone, it will display the messaging menu on the background and I cannot view the HTC Sense main screen till I press any button.
Please see below photo of the problem :

Mine does exactly the same thing.
mine does the same thing too, it seems to be that messaging tries to open up on top of it, if you see on your screenshot, it says messaging at the top instead of start. Seems to be an issue with windows mobile i think as i had the same thing happen on my touch pro with a custom rom. it happens to me when i use the phone too, for example if i'm watching a video in full screen that messaging thing appears over it and exits full screen playback, doesnt happen all the time but enough to become annoying
Try booting the phone without the memory card inserted. Maybe it's corrupt.
I get this too. Tried searching for a fix but couldn't find one so good to see a thread started here about it.
Touching the screen will also take you to the main screen.
Weird. I get the "Launching HTC Sense" sometimes, but never the Messaging thing instead of Start.
It only happens on mine if the phone has been switched off for a while, for example over night, if I just switch the phone off and back on again it goes straight to the main screen.

[Q] only white and purple screen color??

Generally screen is normal but sometimes when i make a phonecall after that screen is turned into white and purple color like in the screenshot. And it stays that way until i reboot the phone. Anyone having this issue? Is it a hardware problem? I tried both wm 6.5 and android have the same issue...

Hi,
I've had what looks like a negative screen, where the phone is is still usable.
A reboot will fix it.
Imilka (DEV) said it was just a glitch.
Nothing to worry about.
Haven't had it for a while though.
yeah it doesn't effect the working of the phone. but nowadays it is happening more and i always had to reboot the phone:/

I have this issue occasionally using GBX. Found that when it happens, if you keep pressing the power off button several times quickly, to lock then unlock your phone. The screen will go back to normal. Alot quicker then rebooting.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
thank you, will keep that in mind
I do the same. sometimes. helps to restart
when changing the rum became less.
sorry for my english

[Q] Dropped phone, screen and touchscreen broken

Hi guys,
I accidentally dropped my phone on the floor.
This wasn't the first time I dropped but this time it's really broken.
The screen is broken and the touch screen isn't working anymore (looks like only 20% of the top part is working, rest of the screen not).

Is there any way how to control it from my pc now? It's rooted etc.
I'd like to make a backup for whatsapp and other apps.
Second thing, should I try to replace the screen and touch screen?
Thanks,
Niek

If the power and volume buttons still work you can use fastboot and adb.

Yeah I know I could use ADB.
But I thought that it's maybe possible to control it on your pc via an interface or something. So that you actually see your phone's screen on your pc screen.
There's an app called airdroid but i don't know how you can launch it without a touchscreen.

Cannot install any apk on my device

Please see picture attached.
I'm unable to install any applications and install button does not react on anything. Opposite button "Cancel" works fine.
Very weird situation which I never had before.
This appeared to happen when I flashed the latest Stock ROM with GNG1 bootloader and to resolve this problem I have tried 4 different Custom ROMs within the last few days but no luck, problem still persist.
And yes, I have performed full wipe and ticked "Unknown Sources" in settings.
What is interesting, problem is going away for short period of time after reboot.

This happens when you have any sort of screen overlay running, like Screen Filter.

LOL, you're the man ! Problem solved. Thx for that.

Not sure what happened. TWRP works fine, android doesn't. help?

So I've been running the same rom for the last ~2 months without issue. Yesterday the radio was dropping several times an hour. sometimes it would come back with data, sometimes not. I decided to wipe cache/dalvik cache. all night and this morning it was fine. around noon the radio dropped again. came back with data and seemed fine. a few hours later it started freaking out. whole screen goes black and slowly pops in with a black background like the launcher restarted. This progressively got worse to the point where I couldn't do anything on the phone.
Once I got home I wiped the phone. upon booting half the screen was black, half with the welcome setup screen. (the black wasn't a straight line, it was choppy across the screen like something out of tetris)
I then tried using the return to stock tool. SAME THING.
I reinstalled TWRP (lost it during the last step). Installed a stock 6.0 MM rom , same issue.
Here's the weird part, the bootloader and TWRP function and run perfect. So i'm inclined to think theres a software issue and not a hardware issue. Any thoughts on this???
I can even get screen shots showing the issue....

Looks like a sim card issue? Pop it out and put it back in. Or get a new one.

I pulled the SIM and SD card early on. Borrowed a phone from a friend to hold me over, SIM works fine.
