I have a Sprint Galaxy S4 with a broken screen. It's still usable but there is a significant crack directly in front of the proximity sensor. My guess is this is causing the proximity sensor to malfunction and the phone thinks its next to my face every time a call is in progress. This only happens on CM roms. Stock ROM's work great. With CM ROMs I cannot make or receive calls because the screen goes black and we have to pull the battery.
I've tried all the different proximity sensor fix apps and even tried hex editing and scripting with terminal. Nothing is working. I have to stay on stock ROM unless I can find a way to disable the proximity sensor in CM Roms.
Any ideas?
You can turn off proximity sensor on OD2 Lollipop.

Sweet! Thanks for the reply. Is this just a regular setting or is there a hidden menu or something like that?

Hello, I was wondering where the ambient light sensor is on this little thing. i know that the proximity sensor (not what I'm looking for) is above the a on the atnt logo. Wondering if anyone knows?
I think its behind the speaker grille
I believe it is right next to the proximity sensor above the &

Me too. If you hold it to the light the right way, you can see something reflect in that spot.

I used a high powered LED flashlight to confirm (240 lumens). There is a sensor there, I just don't know what sensor it is... lol

Hey everyone
Today I realised that my HD2 vibration doesnt work, I dont know why and what happened but it doesnt work, the only thing that I can say and hear is the click that I can hear whenever I try to turn on the phone , it seems its trying to vibrate but cant , only one click and the phone boots up normally , everything else works fine , I can also hear the click whenever I recieve a call or text .
What can I do to fix it ?
Basically I could fix it, the problem was flash cover, camera flash cover or glass as you can see in the picture had been pushed in a little bit and because it is exactly on the vibration motor itd prevent it to work

So I opened the phone and pushed it back , now its working
I fixed it, and edited the topic coz thought it might be useful as this might happen to someone esle
cheers
Nice fix. Did the cover or it's supports break, or did it just pop out of position?
It wasnt loose, so probably something from outside caused it pop out of its position.
Hi guys,
I have a LS980, right now running Slimkat, but was using Cloudys G3 rom.. Anyways since I moved from stock (had 4.4.2 rooted) , when I'm in direct sunlight or another strong source of light and I unlock my phone the screen doesn't get bright, it just stays really dim at the point is not possible to see it, I have to lock it and unlock it multiple times, or reboot to get it to work.
I've tied moving from manual to auto brightness back and forth, but issue is still there, it just seems the light sensor (?) is not working appropriately and it just stays dim.
I've tried flashing the kitkat baseband as suggested in Cloudys thread.. Clean install both Slimkat and G3 ports but still the same. Issue was not happening when I was running stock.
Any ideas or suggestions? Has anybody have this issue?
Something else I noticed, is that my baseband shows unknown even if I flash kit Kat baseband again

So iv been having a weird issue with my s7 edge. it usually only happens just after unlocking the phone, not always. But when i go to swipe down my notification tray, ill swipe over the proximity sensor, and the sceen will turn off and the phone will lock. Even just hovering over the proximity sensor will do this. Has anyone else had this issue?

I've been having this same issue and it drives me nuts. I'm going to feel like an idiot if that one little trick fixed it lol. If it does fix it, then you are the man!

I have had problems during calls, as the telephone would not lock screen when close to the face. I went to investigate the issue, and apparently there is a manufacturer menu to diagnose the sensors (*#0*# from phone app). I was shocked to see that not only the proximity sensor is not working, but also the light and compass. Here is a screenshot of the problem:

Things I have tried:
Remove the case (not a magnetic case) and restart the phone multiple times (the phone has no screen protector)
Calibrate the compass by rotating the phone multiple times through the 3-axis
Calibrate the compass by doing a '8' movement multiple times
Do you think it might be solved by doing a factory reset, or are there other solutions available?
Right after factory reset, sensors were back to normal. 2 weeks have passed, and they became non operative again. I can restart the phone as many times as I want to, and they don't come back to live.
Nobody experiencing the same problem?
Same problem here. Please help me. ???
I have the same problem with my A8.
